Chapter 145 Corrupted Nobles

Researches are the lifeline of mages, especially those who practice dark magic or more commonly known as black mage.

To them, the research they do are irreplaceable. Therefore, whoever messed with them and tried to steal their research, most would only end up dead somewhere.

However, that was only the case for those powerful black mages and not those who have been captured already.

"Touch my research and I'll chop your finger off." The black mage threatened in a fierce tone.

"Oh my, I'm so scared. Should I run to my mommy and cry?" Lei Zhen replied sarcastically, clearly not putting her threat to mind.

"Hmph, fucking bastard."

"You can call me whatever you want to be honest. But at the end of the day, you're the loser and I'm the winner."

"Can you get the hell off the carriage already? I wished to be alone and not be stuck here with you."

"Sucks to suck then. I'm not letting you escape again." Lei Zhen shrugged his shoulders. After the explosion incident and how she was about to get a revenge strike, Lei Zhen dared not take any chances.

Since the soldiers could not be trusted at the moment, then he shall do everything himself.

At the very least, he wouldn't be betraying himself given that's an impossible feat.

Time slowly passed by, and the transportation carrier arrived at Yors Castle.

Upon their arrival, Lei Zhen heard loud cheering from outside the carrier, causing him to smile awkwardly behind the mask.

If it weren't for the additional problems that he had to face, then Lei Zhen would have been exhilarated by the cheers.

ραпdα nᴏνa| сom 'Sigh, why can't I be like these citizens… ignorant of the rotten soul within the walls of Yors Castle.' He thought to himself.

Meanwhile, Evan walked toward the carriage and wanted to ask Lei Zhen if he wished to greet the citizens, only to be denied.

"Not now, Training Commander Evan. I wish to return as soon as possible." Lei Zhen responded, unwilling to be hindered further.

Evan nodded his head and commanded the soldiers to make a path for the transportation carrier to move ahead.

Evan also patted his chest slightly since he realized Lei Zhen wasn't angry at him for the previous incident. Having a traitor sabotaged their achievement and almost caused a big disaster, Evan swore to capture the traitor personally.

It was a shame that nobody had the time to search for the traitor considering the situation was urgent at that time.

However, it wouldn't take long to figure out who the traitor was since every soldier had their information documented.

Sometime later, Lei Zhen hopped off the carrier and dragged the black mage, keeping a tight leash on her.

Not a single soldier dared to approach him and to top it off, Griselda was even standing behind with a menacing look, seemingly warning everyone to not make a move.

"Tie Longkun, if you see anyone making suspicious moves, you are permitted to use violence to handle the situation." Lei Zhen turned toward him and commanded.

Normally, Lei Zhen would never do this, but given the circumstances, he was sure the corrupted nobles had long gotten news of this successful capture.

The black mage was the treasure key to gather evidence of the corrupted nobles, so her life right now was in peril.

As long as the black mage died, all of their concerns would be cleansed.

"Rest assured, Guild Leader. I'll cut off anyone that wants to approach here sneakily." Tie Longkun pulled out his sword and said confidently.

"Don't worry, I'll keep watch of Tie Longkun and make sure he's really attacking those suspicious ones," Griselda interjected.

Lei Zhen nodded his head.

With that taken care of, Lei Zhen proceeded to drag the black mage like it was some merchandise, not caring about her resentful glare.

Dragging the black mage for a while, Lei Zhen officially entered Princess Kate's office. As for the guards that were standing outside, they only held a confused look and kept silent.

Who would dare to ask why the Chancellor was dragging a woman so forcefully?

They preferred to keep their life and pretended to be blind.

After entering, Kate was astonished to see Lei Zhen dragging a woman back.

"Weren't you off to apprehend a black mage?" She asked, her eyes glancing at the resentful woman.

"That's right, she's the black mage." Lei Zhen casually said, flicking the black mage aside, almost as if he was throwing out garbage.

"S-She's the black mage??!" Kate stood up in shock.

Her expression clearly showed that she was in disbelief to see such a beautiful woman was actually the vicious black mage that committed numerous heinous crimes.

Lei Zhen nodded his head.

"Woman or not, she's a criminal at the end of the day." He calmly said.

Changing your attitude toward something just because of their gender was different than what you expected was foolish.

He believed in gender equality so regardless if they're a man or woman, so long as they commit a crime, then they are a criminal.

"Y-You're right, Chancellor." Kate smiled bitterly as she was taught another life lesson by him.

"So what should we do to her? Execute her?"

"No, Princess Kate. Executing her would just make a lot of people happy, and we don't want that." Lei Zhen calmly said and explained the situation.

By the time he finished, Kate's face turned red from anger.

"Those damn corrupted nobles dared to do such a thing!" She shouted furiously and unleashed some of her mana accidentally, causing the floor to have a dent.

"Calm yourself, Princess Kate." Lei Zhen quickly said. "I'm not even angry like that since anger doesn't solve anything. You'll need to learn to control your emotions better."

Being reprimanded by Lei Zhen again, Kate felt like crawling into a hole to hide.

"I just lost my cool for a moment since you were almost placed in danger because of those wicked people." She said timidly, almost as if she wanted to justify her action.
