Chapter 203 Assistance

Lei Zhen and Jack Scarecrow talked for a few hours, discussing the previous hostile action and compensation.

And after getting a chance to know Jack Scarecrow alongside some great privilege of their visit, Lei Zhen decided to scratch the exorbitant asking prices to a more reasonable one.

So long as Athea compensated for the ship's damage and helped give them more supplies, then all is well.

As for the public apology, Lei Zhen didn't wish to push the matter further since it wouldn't do him good anyway.

After all, they are still on the land and soil of Athea currently.

Having them humiliated at their home ground was an insult and would create more unnecessary obstacles for them.

The main culprit, Peter Heisen, and his three accomplices have been executed already, and as for Charter Heisen, he was going to be tried at a military court.

This meant that the incident should have a closure as well.

"Anyway, it was a pleasure to chat with someone that I can hit it off with." Jack Scarecrow smiled brightly, extending his hand.

"The pleasure is mine as well. I didn't expect we have a lot in common too." Lei Zhen smiled back and shook his hand.

"All details of Cinderton could be found at the desk over there, Junior Lei. I'll have to leave now." Jack Scarecrow then bid farewell.

After they had left, Lei Zhen turned to his crewmen and told them to enjoy the night thoroughly.

Although they had not complained once, Lei Zhen felt guilty that they needed to experience such a whirlwind incident.

Hence, he shall let them fill their bellies to the max, including boozes and other alcoholic drinks that he had banned previously.

While letting his crewmen enjoy a wild night, Lei Zhen sneakily left the area for a room to rest.

They might not need to plan for anything, but as the employer and technically the boss, Lei Zhen had to do a lot of planning for what was to come next.

However, Lei Zhen didn't expect that while he was trying to figure out the next move, Candice was like a ghost, following right behind him.

"What are you doing, Candice?" Lei Zhen raised an eyebrow. "You can enjoy the feast with the rest of the crewmen and Howard as well."

"I much prefer to stay here and assist the Master," Candice replied swiftly.

"Is it because of the wind again?"

Candice remained silent, but her silence was enough for Lei Zhen to understand.

Lei Zhen nodded his head. "So what did the "wind," told you again?"

"They didn't reveal much to me, only that you might need my assistance."

"And for that alone, you decided to follow me instead of celebrating with the rest?" Lei Zhen was smiling bitterly as he wondered if she was relying too heavily on this wind.

Even back when she got captured and transported, she didn't try to resist even though she was perfectly capable of resisting.

This was proven back when he commanded her to attack Peter Heisen in which he had witnessed her fearsome power. It was a power that not any tom, dick, or harry could have simply captured her and treated her like a normal slave.

"It's fine, you can just enjoy the feast. I alone can solve it." Lei Zhen brushed it off and tried to dismiss her, only to be hit with an unexpected response.

"You're lying, Master," Candice said straightforwardly.

"You are currently excited but dare not to reveal much of it. Also, you are struggling to find a solution to become powerful in a short amount of time to explore some dangerous regions." She added.

"When did communicating with the wind become a mind-reading ability?"

"It's not, but your action alone could determine some fixed variables pathway. And I chose to say this specifically given the time that I have known you."

Having his mindset revealed was astonishing for Lei Zhen to say the least.

He was never the type to reveal much of his thoughts to an outsider until he was certain of something.

After all, there was no point in rambling on about something, only for it to end up in a failure and lifting up hopes for no reason.

Yet Candice's appearance at the moment might change his method of thinking subtly.

"That's right, I've been thinking lately about the musketeer pistol that I used on Peter Heisen. Not the killing part of the course, but the usage of the gun." Lei Zhen calmly said and took out the gun plus his staff.

"My staff isn't used much since I can't output damage with the boost it gives compared to a normal pistol. Thus, I was thinking that since we're here in Athea in which the machinery seemed so advanced, would it be possible to modify my staff to be able to transform into a gun right away?" He added.

Candice pondered for a moment with her eyes closed. She seemed to be in thought or was communicating with the wind for a searchable solution.

A few minutes later, Candice reopened her eyes with a calm expression.

"The wind informed me that such a method should not be possible, but a person has done it before. He was a blacksmith called Smither Gary, but his location was currently unknown to the public." She then said, flashing a cheeky smile.

Seeing that cheeky smile, Lei Zhen laughed and stood up, giving her a hug in the process.

"You know, Candice… the more you showcase your ability like this, the more I would be relying on you. And that's not going to be good for you when you want to regain your freedom." Lei Zhen teased.

Both were clever people, so Candice didn't need to convey everything clearly between them to have Lei Zhen understand her meaning.

The keyword was unknown to the public, but apparently, not to her. This meant that they had information about the blacksmith including its location.

"Happy to be of your assistance, Master." Candice giggled and stuck her tongue out slightly.
