Chapter 139 Upgrading In The Night

Nodding in response to the staff's words as he told them he was gonna get out, Valyr took in a deep breath before letting out a satisfied sigh, shaking off the blood on his spear before affixing it on his back. After that, he went through the passage connected to the pit, eventually ending up on the surface once more sometime later.

Seeing as some of the staff were making their way towards him, Valyr quickly understood that it was time for him to give part of the experience he earned from the pit to them. With that in mind, he went ahead and commanded the system to show him how much unused XP he had, only to left at a slight loss for words at the six figure digit that was shown in front of him.

'I'm already used to seeing bigger numbers than this, but wow. This just shows that the Experience Pit truly is the best way to gain experience in a short amount of time.' Letting out a light chuckle, he made a few calculations in his mind, stopping once the staff were in front of him.

"According to what we've recorded, you have killed a total of 120 monsters during the past three hours or so," one of the staff said to him. "Except for the first 30 that ranged from Level 14 to Level 19, the remaining 90 monsters were all at Level 20."

Looking at the tablet the man held for a bit as he infused a bit of mana, he then looked back at Valyr as he opened his mouth once more. "Taking into consideration the level disparity between you and the monsters, you have earned a total of 491,290 XP during the session. Since 30% of the experience you earn has to be given back to the pit, we need you to give us 147,387 XP."

'Half a million XP in just a bit over than three hours.' Hearing the words that came out of the staff's mouth, Valyr could not help but let out a light chuckle yet again as he soon nodded, opening up a screen in front to send part of the experience he earned to one of the staff. 'I wonder how much XP I could gain from the Experience Pit if I were of a higher level? Or perhaps, if I could grind XP all day?'

'Unfortunately, I'll have to save those thoughts for the future for now.' Once he had sent part of the experience to one of the staff, Valyr went ahead and asked them to confirm if they have obtained the correct amount. Obtaining nods in response to his question, he then thanked the staff for taking care of him while he was in the pit before proceeding to leave the premises.

Taking a look at the sky to see that the sun was around halfway to setting, Valyr then made his way to the inn that he stayed in the previous night as he wondered whether there was anything else in his list of tasks in the city he hadn't finished yet.

Naturally, the thought of the quest Damian gave him popped up in his mind while thinking about it, but since he came to an agreement with Tryndall regarding the fact that he would return to the village for a while, Valyr more or less came to the conclusion that he had finished all of the tasks he wanted to do before returning.

With that, he hastily made his way to the dining area of the inn he previously stayed in, ordering a slightly hearty dinner as he ate his food at a relaxed pace. While doing so, he took a look at the amount of unused XP that remained with him after giving part of it back to the staff, which was about 50,000 XP shy of reaching 400,000.

Pondering over how he was going to allocate his experience aside from using part of it to reach Level 15, he continued to savor the taste of the food he had ordered, finishing around an hour and a half later as he headed to the room he had booked yesterday.

Once there, he swiftly entered the bathroom and took a long warm shower, thinking about how much he moved around today during the tests in the training hall and the Experience Pit. Coming out of the bathroom feeling refreshed and relaxed, he changed into a set of clothes more suited for sleeping as he lied down on the bed, thinking of heading to bed early.

However, before doing so, he opened up his status screen and his skill screen before proceeding to allocate most, if not all of the XP he had earned earlier, starting off with increasing his level to Level 15.

Ding!

[156,656 XP has been allocated. You are now Level 15.]

[You have gained the following stats: +12 VIT, +12 STR, +8 AGI, +20 DEX, +20 INT, +8 WIS, +12 PER, and +4 LUK.]

[You have gained 16 unassigned stat points.]

Not too long after receiving a string of notifications regarding his increase in level, Valyr instantly felt the effects of the increase in stats, prompting him to get out of his bed as he did a few basic combat movements to get acclimated to it.

Making sure to not go all out lest he wanted the room to become messy, Valyr eventually got used to his newfound stats… only to repeat it once more as he allocated his unassigned stat points evenly between DEX and INT, putting 10 points each into both stats.

Once he felt like he had truly gotten used to his increased stats, Valyr laid himself down on the bed once more, opening up the status screen to check out his new and improved stats before letting out a chuckle. "To think both my DEX and INT are already close to reaching 70 points thanks to this class of mine… I think I can fight against a newly ascended Rank 2 fighter to a draw with my current stats."

"Anyways, time to put my attention on the skills." With this statement coming out of his mouth, Valyr opened his skill list once more, his mind already made up before even looking at the screen.

Ding!

[10,561 XP has been allocated. 'Inferior Heal' has been upgraded to Level 6.]

[10,561 XP has been allocated. 'Serpent Steps Movement Style' has been upgraded to Level 6.]

Since he was going to tackle a dungeon for the meantime, Valyr focused on upgrading all of the combat skills he had to Level 6 first, specifically the three skills he had gotten from the contribution point shop, as well as the [Serpent Steps Movement Style] he personally asked Damian to obtain.

After that, he took a look at the amount of XP he had remaining, which amounted to around 150,000 XP. Thinking that the remaining amount was more than enough to max out one of his combat skills to Level 10 and upgrade another one by a couple levels, he went ahead and did as such, maxing out [Strong Pierce] to Level 10, only to find out he still had more than enough XP remaining to max out another one.

And so he maxed out [Serpent Spear Combat Style] after that.

With only slightly above 4,000 XP remaining after the two massive upgrades, Valyr felt content with how he had allocated the experience in preparation for the dungeon, lightly yawning before eventually falling into a deep sleep.
