Chapter 42 42 Dungeon

"Can I interest you in a task, you look like an adventurer and you are coming to buy potions so I'm guessing you are an adventurer, I have a task for you and you're going to be paid"

"What do you need?" Alex asked immediately.

"An ingredient, but I need it in large quantities"

"Where can I find it?"

"In the great forest...give me a minute" the man bent down and brought out a small map.

"This is the map of the great forest, the plants are located in this area, you need to bring about 5 leaves of the moonlight plant"

"I thought you said you needed it in large quantities, but you are only asking for 5 leaves?" Alex was surprised.

"5 is enough but if you can bring more I would pay you extra, 1000 coins for each of the leaves, and mind you, you can only find them at night, they are shiny blue plants"

"We have a deal... it's quite far but I'll definitely bring the leaves to you" Alex smiled, 1000 coins for a piece of leaf, this was like a dream.

[Quest/Task]

[Retrieve leaves of the moonlight plant]

[Reward: 1000 blue coins for each leaf]

[Reward: Relationship with Matthew would increase]

[Failure: Banned from Melmond potion shop]

[Time limit: One week]

'This quest has a time limit, the forest is very large so it's supposed to have a time limit, but I can complete the quest before the week runs out so I have nothing to worry about'

"Are you a mage?" Alex asked Matthew.

"No, but I attended a magic school, I'm an Alchemist"

"Okay...how much for the healing potion? I'll buy it just in case" Alex mumbled.

"It's 1000 coins for you," Matthew said.

pαпdα`noνɐ1`сoМ "I'll take two of them" Alex replied.

Alex exited the shop after he bought two healing potions, his coins were down to 10,080 blue coins, he stepped inside the weapons shop next to him.

The weapons shop was bustling with players as Alex stepped in, just like the weapon shop in the newbie village this shop had a list of all its weapons on the wall.

First Alex glanced at all the players in the shop, their names and levels, only two players bothered Alex because they were both level 8 players.

Alex glanced through the list of weapons on the wall and found nothing for an assassin class, the only weapon he saw was the steel dagger which he already has.

The weapons were divided into three classes, ranged, close combat, and daggers. Only the steel dagger was available so Alex sighed and walked towards the exit.

[Dungeon Alert]

[Low-level dungeon]

The notification appeared in Alex's front and also appeared to all the players in the shop, immediately Alex's map was opened and his location and the location of the dungeon were displayed.

The dungeon was just outside of the city, it was slightly close to the mountains Alex came from, Alex was still pondering if he should go or not as he walked outside.

Alex's jaws dropped open as he looked at the streets, players were rushing towards the dungeon as soon as they got the notification.

The door to the weapon shop was pushed open and players rushed out of the shop all of them were rushing towards the dungeon.

'I should also go...the time limit on my task is one week so I have enough time, but first I need good equipment'

'All dungeon contains a boss according to the information and you have to clear the dungeon, so how would low-level players defeat a dungeon boss' Alex wondered.

Alex went straight to the armor shop and walked inside, because of the dungeon alert all the players had exited all the shops and the armor shop was empty. Only one man was standing in front of the counter.

"Hey there, do you need anything," the man in the shop asked eagerly as he heard the door open.

"Yes," Alex replied, he was surprised at the man's action but he wasn't bothered.

"Everyone suddenly left, I don't know why" the man sighed, "you are here to buy right?"

Alex didn't bother looking at the man's level or name, instead he was interested in the array of armor that was displayed around the man's shop.

The armor shop was the largest shop he had seen since among the shops he had visited, different armor was displayed on wooden mannequins. The front of the shop and the inside was beautifully decorated with crystals to attract buyers.

The owner was heartbroken when all the players left his shop, he didn't know that they all left to gain XP or possibly new items.

Most of the armor in the shop were heavy-looking armor not fitting for an assassin that needs to move quickly, Alex looked around and was disappointed at the armory shop.

"What are you looking for?" the man asked as he followed Alex around.

"Something flexible, something I can run comfortably with," Alex told the man.

"I have something like that, wait here..." the man ran to the far end of his shop.

Alex looked as the man used a piece of clothing to clean the armor he had for Alex, the armor was like a normal cloth.

"Here..." the man handed the armor to Alex with a smile on his face.

[Leather Armor - Common]

[Effect +20 HP]

"How much for this?" Alex asked.

'This has been in my shop for too long I should sell it out, but wait this is the only leather armor he can find in this city, so he would buy even if I jack up the price' a smile flashed on the man's face.

"How much for this?" Alex shouted this time.

"I'm sorry, I'm just thinking about my family, this equipment is pretty rare you know, this is the only piece in the city," the man said.

"It's not rare, it's just old" Alex spoke, he knew what the man was trying to do, the man was trying to rip him off.
