Chapter 2: Trading System

_

Cain drove to the location Jimmy gave him. Although it was a bit out of the way, it was still within New York City, not far from the suburbs.

After getting out of the car, Cain went straight in without knocking. It was a standard gun shop, with legal guns on display for sale in the United States. Cain looked around; if these were the only guns available, he wouldn’t have needed to come out and ask Jimmy for information.

“Boss?”

After Cain spoke, a middle-aged man slowly stood up from behind the cash register. His beard was untrimmed, and his messy hair almost merged, making him look like a legless ape.

“If you’re old enough to buy a gun, feel free to look around.”

Seeing Cain’s age, the gun shop owner thought he was a young man interested in guns who had come to buy one secretly. These customers usually had little money and could only afford the cheapest hunting rifle with all their savings.

“Choose whatever you want, and let me know after you’ve made your choice. Since it’s your first time here, I’ll give you a discount.”

“I’ve already made my choice, and I want everything on this list, boss.”

Cain walked up to the cash register and took a list from his pocket, placing it on the counter and handing it to the owner. The gun shop owner took a glance at the list and frowned. There were not only a large number of items on it, but also many of them were prohibited.

“I was introduced by Jimmy.”

The shop owner’s temper was not good, and he asked, “Why didn’t he introduce you to Stark Industries?”

“Stark Industries won’t break the law for such a small amount of money, boss. You can name your price.”

Cain indicated he was willing to pay a high price for the items on the list. Even though they would be more expensive, he wanted to buy them now. At least this gun shop owner didn’t seem dangerous. If Jimmy had introduced him to the Mafia, Cain would rather buy guns through legal channels.

Cain’s connections were completely useless in this regard. Among all the people he knew, only Jimmy was willing to introduce him to a way to buy guns for money. Other people would advise Cain to find the police or hire bodyguards.

But his golden finger wouldn’t recognize the NYPD or bodyguards. Even if Cain produced a contract, it wouldn’t help.

The gun shop owner seriously told Cain, “Selling these items is a crime, and if the police find out, I’ll be in trouble.”

Bang.

Cain took out thirty thousand dollars from his pocket and slammed it on the table.

“This is a deposit, boss. If the deal can be made, the final payment will also be in cash.” The gun shop owner was interested after seeing the money, so Cain continued, “Besides, you should know Jimmy. He has no reason to harm you, right? This is not just a transaction. I will come to you again in the future.”

The current $30,000 is still very valuable, and what Kahn wants is only for his own use. He has both pistols and rifles, and there are more bullets, grenades, and explosives, but the total price will not exceed $150,000.

This was a big deal, and the gun shop owner thought for a while, repeatedly looking at Cain’s expression, but he didn’t see anything. Moreover, he couldn’t fully understand Cain’s background in such a short time.

“I can make this deal. These things will be ready in five days. You should leave me an address.”

After thinking momentarily, the gun store owner decided to take on the deal. Jimmy’s introduction was one reason, as he was reliable and had not caused any problems. The other reason was that Cain seemed too young and didn’t dress or drive expensive vehicles.

Cain took a pen and paper from the cash register and wrote down an address and phone number. “This is my phone number and address. It’s best to call me before coming.”

It was another residence left by Cain’s parents, only four streets away with a large garage, but Cain rarely went there.

After the gun store owner received Cain’s contact information, he accepted the $30,000 and thought it would be enough to earn for three months.

After the deal was made, Cain left in his car.

When he returned home, Cain planned to self-study some medical knowledge. His excellent memory was the reason why he ranked first in Midtown High School. Therefore, Cain didn’t want to waste his time on some boring video games, especially those from the year 2000, which he found to be very dull in terms of both graphics and storyline.

Cain’s self-study of medical knowledge was not because of the 34% hospital shares but because it would help him in his travels around different universes. Weapons could only give him a sense of security when facing humanoid creatures, but medical knowledge could ensure his survival in case of emergencies.

He knew how to bandage, suture, apply for medicines, and diagnose illnesses. His family ran a hospital, and his deceased parents left many books on the subject. Cain even tested some operations on a dummy, with a 100% success rate, but he didn’t know how many real people he could save.

Today, Cain was excited. After receiving the weapons, he could try to use his golden finger.

He might face danger, but Cain was prepared. There were few ways for him to gain extraordinary power as an ordinary person, and the system he brought with him from his time travel was the most suitable method.

“I’ll be using the trading system in five days. Should I practice more beforehand? I’m skilled with firearms, but I’ve only watched videos on weapons like rocket launchers.”

Cain was excited today but only studied for two hours before giving up self-study. After taking a shower, he poured himself a glass of red wine. As long as the police didn’t come knocking, he wouldn’t be considered a criminal.

“First, let’s see what world I can refresh. If there are no problems, then I’ll check out the system.”

A transparent panel appeared in front of Cain. Only he could see the system’s panel, which he had tested many times in front of his classmates.

The information on the panel was not extensive, and the functions were straightforward.

“The system can collect information on a world, and then Cain must personally conduct business in that world. Only when he obtains the trading demands of any native of that world can the Multiverse Trading System deploy a trading marker in that world. After that, Cain can freely enter and exit that world for trading using the system.

In other words, the first trade was the most dangerous. After the first successful trade, Cain could quickly return to the Marvel world through the system or slowly build his influence in the trading world.

The system also came with fifty space slots, each of which could only hold one type of item. One hundred kilograms of an item would show as one unit in the space slot, and a slot could hold up to 999 units. If Cain traded the most basic flour, the fifty space slots could hold up to 4995 tons of flour, which was a considerable amount.

There were risks and opportunities, but as long as he succeeded, the opportunities would far outweigh the risks. Cain felt he could take a gamble, as he had thought it over carefully. The life of an ordinary millionaire was not what he wanted.

Cain wanted to see more of the world.
