Chapter 19: Publication of Novels

_

“Good, good, this is a really great book!”

The owner of the Rijun Nookstore in the capital of the Fire Nation was completely absorbed in Cain’s manuscript. It wasn’t until he finished reading the first volume that he suddenly came to his senses and exclaimed. However, he felt a bit embarrassed when he realized he had been so engrossed in the story.

Afterwards, the owner, Miki, asked reluctantly, “Cain-san, do you have any sequels to this book?”

“Of course, I’ve already finished writing the book. But Miki-san, could we discuss business first?”

Cain raised an eyebrow and asked. He was absolutely confident in the novel he had brought with him, given that the ninja world was currently in a cultural desert. Before coming to the Rijun Nookstore, Cain had bought a few bestsellers, but they were completely unappealing.

They were full of encouragement and praise but were headache-inducing and lacked the desire to continue reading. So when Cain presented his masterpiece, which was a culmination of another world, it was impossible not to make a profit. Even the bookstore owner was so engrossed in the novel that it was bound to be a huge success.

“Of course, we can discuss it. With Cain-san’s skill level, I can guarantee a 20% cut.”

However, Cain shook his head and interrupted Miki’s words. He said, “Miki-san, you’re not showing enough sincerity. Before I came here, I read through the so-called ‘bestsellers’ of the Rijun Bookstore. I must say… heh heh. I have two other novels of equal quality to the one you just read. If the deal you’re offering is just this, I’ll have to decline.”

“Wait, wait.”

After hearing what Cain said, Miki quickly stopped him.

“Cain-san, did you say you have two other novels of similar quality? I wonder if I could take a look?”

“Of course, but it’s best if you don’t read them all at once, or you won’t have enough time.”

Cain handed Miki the first volume of the other two novels from his backpack.

After receiving the novels, Miki couldn’t wait to read them and was immediately drawn into the story. Those who can run a bookstore at least have some ability to appreciate novels, and Miki has great confidence in his own taste.

After a while, Cain coughed to remind Miki, still engrossed in the novel, to finish reading. Then, Miki picked up the last novel and began reading it.

After finishing them all, Miki couldn’t help but sigh. “I can give you a 37% cut, Cain-san. That’s the highest sincerity I can offer. I don’t think anyone in the ninja world can offer a higher percentage.”

Miki’s face was solemn. Typically, in the ninja world, the cut for a novel was around 10% to 22%. But he was offering Cain a 37% cut, and he would also have to bear the costs. It was a very sincere offer.

If Miki wasn’t certain that all three novels were good and would definitely sell well, he wouldn’t have made such an offer.

“That’s settled then, Miki-san. After the contract is signed, I will give you the first three volumes of the novel,” said Cain with a smile. As for shaking hands, he didn’t want to shake hands with someone who had just “held a gun.”

Soon after, Cain and Miki signed the contract, and Cain handed over the first three volumes to Miki. He even reminded him that he could open a bookstore in Konoha. With the population of Konoha, there was still a considerable market.

Jiraiya earned at least a few hundred million Ryo from his three books, and there was no reason for Cain not to make this kind of money. All he had to do was move his fingers, and he could have a steady stream of income coming in.

After finalizing the deal with Rijun Bookstore, Cain toured the capital city of the Fire Country. It was much more prosperous than Konoha, with a population that dwarfed Konoha’s.

With two teams of Konoha ninjas guarding him, Cain enjoyed several good meals. Although the team leader, a Chunin, tried to decline, he was eventually persuaded by Cain and his four subordinates. As long as they didn’t drink alcohol, eating a little food was not against the ninja code. Moreover, the capital city was not dangerous, so it was okay to relax a bit.

These ninjas had a conscience. After enjoying Cain’s delicious food, they would not say anything too bad when they reported back on their mission. They might even embellish a little.

After touring the capital city of the Fire Country for two days, Cain understood the economic situation and development of the ninja world. Overall, it was similar to the 1970s in their world, where many resources were scarce, and industry was just starting to take off. However, the nobles and daimyos did not care about the industry’s development potential.

This gave Cain a lot of opportunities. The first step was the dessert factory. Next, he needed to control the food and manpower in the Fire Country. After accumulating some influence in the Fire Country, he would move on to developing small countries without ninja villages. In that way, Cain could easily sieze the power of a whole nation.

After leaving the capital city of the Fire Country, Cain toured many prosperous towns in the country. He took notes along the way and finally returned to Kawaki Town. He decided to open his dessert factory there.

It was not too far from Konoha but within a safe distance, with no bandits or thieves around. There were also many common people living there. If Cain opened a factory, he could easily recruit many workers. As for management personnel, he could recruit some members of the Senju clan, just like Natsuhawa. The Senju clan had been trained since childhood, and their family history ensured they would not produce evil people. The rest was just training in professional skills.

Cain needed to establish the dessert factory as soon as possible. After returning to Kawaki Town, he found the officials in the Fire Country and bought a large piece of land. He then hired a construction team to construct a large factory and warehouse according to his plan.

Buying the land and constructing the factory and warehouses already cost Kahn several million Ryo. However, there were still equipment purchases to be made. Cain discovered that the Shinobi world did not have the needed equipment, so he planned to return to the Marvel world to purchase some production equipment. Equipment from twenty years ago would suffice. As for the land near Kawaki town, he could also plant cocoa trees there.

Cain stayed in Kawaki Town for three more days. When his commissioned mission was almost over, Cain finished the construction of the dessert factory and only needed to wait for the appointed time for inspection.

After that, he returned to Konoha.
