Chapter 40: Kushina’s Graduation

_

“Kushina, don’t worry about it; just let her be. Nanami, is Tsunade still in the village?”

“It seems that Lady Tsunade hasn’t left the village. I saw her in the village the day before yesterday.”

Nanami replied, but she was still thinking about what happened with Kushina earlier. Did “let her be” mean to ignore her or to pay attention to her? Was Kushina implying that she should reveal information about their boss?

Cain nodded and said, “Help me get in touch with Tsunade. If she has time, I’ll invite her to drink on the second floor of Cain Izakaya.”

“I understand.”

Later, Nanami talked to Cain about other things. The thirteen shops in Konoha were doing well, with all businesses except the pharmacy steadily increasing their revenue. The game store, dessert shop, and izakaya were becoming the signature businesses of Konoha.

The convergence of people brought about a stable increase in fame, especially since this street was full of consumers, and it would naturally attract others to come here. At this time, in Konoha, the only commercial street gathering place was Cain’s place. Even the Uchiha clan’s people would come here to consume, and it seemed that quite a few people in their clan liked sweets.

The sponsorship of the orphanage has continued for more than a year. Up to now, Cain has gained a considerable reputation in Konoha. Many people know that Cain sponsors the orphanage with 2.1 million Ryo every month, allowing the homeless children who lost their homes due to the war to have enough food and clothing.

Because the number of children adopted by the orphanage has increased significantly, the amount of sponsorship has increased from 500,000 Ryo to 700,000 Ryo six months ago. At present, the number of war orphans adopted by the three orphanages has exceeded 300. Konoha wouldn’t want to bear such a large expense if it weren’t for Cain’s sponsorship.

This approach is also effective. Thirteen people were sent by Cain to the ninja academy from the three orphanages, among whom Nono Yakushi is the smartest. She is in the same grade as Kushina and ranked fourth in the last exam.

Her practical class grades were a little behind, but her theoretical class grades were undoubtedly the first.

Moreover, Nono Yakushi also occasionally tells Cain some information she has collected in the ninja academy. Although this is not Cain’s order, Nono does this voluntarily. She has a low profile in daily life. Still, when listening to discussions among small groups in the academy, she can get a lot of information about the other party’s family.

Nono Yakushi doesn’t know which information is useful and which is not, but Cain is still very satisfied with her performance, except that sometimes she is too obvious.

After Nanami left, Cain waited for the evening to come into the house.

Even if Tsunade hadn’t left the village, she was probably busy with medical reform. In the past year and a half, Tsunade’s reputation has become increasingly prominent, but it has little to do with the Sannins. Her fame is due to her medical ninjutsu.

Although Cain doesn’t live in Konoha much, the house is cleaned very cleanly, and Cain has also set up several cameras. Every time he comes back, he will check them. At present, he hasn’t found anyone entering without permission except for those who clean the house.

After a while, a familiar voice suddenly came from outside, followed by the sound of footsteps. After the lesson that cost over 100,000 Ryo last time, Kushina had developed the habit of knocking before entering for more than a year since then.

“Come in.”

As soon as Cain finished speaking, the door was opened, and a red-haired head poked in. Upon seeing Cain sitting at the tea table, Kushina smiled and walked in.

“Boss, I didn’t expect you to come back so soon.”

As Kushina spoke, she skillfully poured herself a cup of tea and sat on the other side of the table.

“I bet you didn’t expect me to return and find you here. It seems we’re really destined to meet. Congratulations on graduating from the ninja academy, Kushina.”

Cain’s first sentence made Kushina smile, but upon hearing the second sentence, she proudly pulled back her flame-like red hair, revealing her forehead protector.

“How do you like it? This forehead protector is pretty cool. I was third in the whole academy!”

“Indeed impressive. This is a graduation gift for you.”

After Cain finished speaking, he took out a piece of chocolate from the snack box beside him and placed it in front of Kushina. This perfunctory gesture immediately wiped the smile off Kushina’s face, and she looked at Cain displeased.

“You’re too stingy, boss, and these snacks are the ones you confiscated last time.”

“Is that so?” Cain chuckled and then got up to walk into the room. “Wait a minute, I’ll get you a different gift.”

Seeing Cain’s action, the displeasure on Kushina’s face dissipated. She sat there, feeling a little hopeful. After all, the little girl was still quite easy to please.

After a while, when Cain walked out of the room, Kushina immediately opened her mouth in surprise.

Although she had eaten cake twice before, she had never seen a nearly one-meter-tall cake like the one in front of her. She had only eaten one-layer cakes before.

“Boss, is this for me?”

Kushina asked, her eyes fixed on the cake. Under the table, she fidgeted with her small hands, eagerly waiting for Cain’s answer.

“That’s right, I gave it to you. Remember to eat it tonight; it might spoil if you leave it until tomorrow.”

After speaking, Cain placed the cake on the table, indicating that Kushina could take it away.

Kushina stared at the cake in front of her and licked her lips. “Then I’ll call my teammates to celebrate with me. Boss, why don’t you come too?”

“I’ll pass. I have something to do tonight. You go ahead and celebrate.”

Cain refused. He didn’t want to go to the Senju Clan’s place.

Later, Kushina stayed with Cain for a while before leaving to inform her teammates.

“Let me walk you home.”

Cain got up and walked with Kushina. At that moment, she looked a little comical, carrying a cake that covered her face, making it difficult for her to walk down the street without peeking out her head to avoid bumping into anyone.

As they left the dessert shop, Cain suddenly felt like someone was watching them. He looked around and saw someone behind the utility pole at the corner.

Cain signaled to Kushina, asking, “Do you know that person over there?”

“That guy? I know him, but we’re not close.”

Kushina saw Minato Namikaze pretending to walk past them and frowned. “He’s a classmate from the ninja academy, but he’s a bit effeminate and made fun of me before. What’s he doing here?”

“Maybe he’s here to celebrate with you?”

“I don’t want to celebrate with someone who made fun of me. Boss, I’m going home.”

Kushina said and cautiously walked back home with the cake. She would be heartbroken for half a month if she accidentally damaged the cake.
