Chapter 2660: Falling Into The Trap

Chapter 2660: Falling Into The Trap

Thud!

My feet gently landed by the base of the door; with the momentum I was moving, it would have been a deafening landing, but the no-fly zone was too powerful that it had sucked all the momentum of my flight, leaving me barely landing at the edge of the base.

I released the breath I was holding and turned back toward the bridge that had collapsed. I could see the pieces of the bridge falling down and hear the sound, even when the parts of the bridge disappeared from my eyes.

I kept looking for a minute before turning back toward the door with a shudder. I do not think I would survive that if I had fallen down.

I never had throught that I would have it easy when I had entered this building, but this close shave with death had made me even more cautious about it and also even more curious about what this thing is about.

I do not know much, but one thing is sure this ruin is no treasure palace; it is something different.

The collapsed building might have provided some clues, but it is utterly damaged, and seeing those cracked ruins, even I will dare to enter inside it.

There is a building beside the door; it is an unassuming and half-collapsed state with all its formations moving around. After what I have experienced, I will not take any risk, but still, I felt quite regretful about its state.

I shook my head and turned toward the door, which is a little rusted with age, but the formation on it is still good. Which is great news considering the risk I would have to take, as now there is no bridge to return to.

My clone had already copied the formation on the door and began to solve it; a minute later, I sat down and started to help it with that while Ashlyn and Nero watched over me.

"Done," I said and got up; it took me two hours and twenty-two minutes to solve the formation.

Buzz!

I did not waste any time and brought it out, and a few seconds later, it stuck to the door and activated, but I immediately went in; instead, my strings came out and formed the net, capturing a large number of runes.

Click!

I stored the runes safely the next brought before pushing the door open. It had opened smoothly with a click, and like before, there was a film stopping me from seeing what was on the other side.

Learning the lessons from the last time, I upped my defenses before stepping out of the door.

Buzz!

As I stepped onto the other side, I felt the formation activating before I saw anything else, and before I moved, I was assaulted by th strongest psychedelic energy I had ever suffered; it was at least five times stronger than the attack of the first monster that attacked me.

My defenses immediately activated; formation in my core which was sending out the lowest amount of soul-washing waves, immediately flared up, and huge waves of soul-washing energy came at my soul while I started to circulate the soul-cleansing energy faster and faster.

"Hun, only a single human; I was expecting more," I heard the sound of Grimm; not a normal Grimm, but a vidette, a yellow vidette.

It had been a long time since I had seen the Vidette since I had fought the Violet Vidette. I had fought quite a lot of Master Vidette but only got a chance to fight a single Grandmaster Vidette and now this yellow Vidette, represents the limit strength of High-Grandmaster class.

It is powerful that very few absolute limit High-Grandmasters could fight against them, as for killing them, that is a completely different game.

"Hun! It is Micheal Zaar; I had not humans would send such gem here," Vidette spoke from the boundary of the formation and moved its hand, and I felt it increasing the power of the formation even more.

"I have heard you are quite a willy bastard, good at getting away at impossible conditions; taking you lightly wouldn't be wise," It said, and I felt the power of formation stabilizing, but it did not make me feel any good.

"Even my vidette defenses wouldn't be able to survive such powerful energy; I wonder if the golden boy of humans have any way or artifacts survive it." It added as it massaged its hands while hallucinations began to float in my mind.

I have fallen into the trap that Grimms have created for the humans; the few flashes I have seen before closing my eyes have told me all the tale.

The Grimms have set the trap and not only this door but all the doors. I could see the formations they had created and powered them up with the resources and the monster cores.

It is right about the power of the formation; it is powerful, so powerful that High-Grandmasters could forget about resisting it, and the only reason I am maintaining a shred of sanity is because of the purple tablet, which is shining brightly as it protects my soul.

The trap set by the Grimms is too perfect; they have taken the account that we might take the anti-psychedelic artifact on us and made the formation powerful enough that no High-Grandmaster would be able to resist it, including them.

The powerful psychedelic attacking me is draining the power of the brick fast. If this continued, then in one and half a minute, all its power would be drained, and even with all the advancements I have made, I wouldn't be able to defend against this raw psychedelic power.

"It seemed like you humans do have some good artifacts, but how long will it last?" asked the yellow Vidette as the silver brooch in my chest lighted up and shone have, covered my whole body as I looked toward the Grimm vidette.

The brooch is a powerful soul-protecting artifact, but it is completely useless against the psychedelic energy with the residual law marks. I am just using it to fool it; it would be weird if I did not have an artifact on me.

"Rsas, we were just wondering whether you have died to old age, but it had turned out you have become a vidette; it seemed like we will be updating our records soon," I said, which shocked it considering even peak High Grandmasters wouldn't able to to talk, even with the protection of artifact.

"You think you will leave alive to tell them?" The Grimm asked soft smile as it took control of its emotions.

The Grimm in front of me Rsas of Twin Horned Tribe; an average strength high Grandmaster with average abilities. The only notable thing about it other than reaching the High Grandmaster class is its ability to survive.

This bastard is over three hundred and fifty years old and is extremely good at running away. I am quite surprised it had become a Vidette, considering how cowardly it is.

"I have survived much worse; I will survive this one too," I said with a shrug while I circulated the soul-cleansing energy rumblingly.

I lied to it, of course; I saw no chance of surviving. Even now, I am fighting the hallucinations around me, which feel even more real than reality, alluring me to get lost in them.
