Chapter 56 Florin

As a baby abandoned by her parents and living in the orphanage's care, Florin had received too little love but a lot to give.

Faced with early hardship in life, she learned to adapt to a twisted way of thinking. Her way of life was always her first and others second.

There was no wrong with it . . . until she killed the sisters in the orphanage because they were going to cut her hair. She killed a boy and opened his guts because he said he was in pain because of stomach ache.

She wasn't a killer. Don't get her wrong. Florin was merely trying to help. She thought and believed it one hundred percent.

In fact, she was timid. Just don't complain to her about any pain because her initial instinct was to kill them to end their suffering.

Faced with the law at only fourteen, she went to a mental institute. But instead of helping her, they made her into a monster.

She had no family to claim her or file a case if she died, so different doctors did things to her. They were constantly administering pain to see how her body handled all levels. It only took a week of torture before her mind broke.

And when she was doomed without knowing anything but pain and inflicting pain, she was transported into another world.

Like in a fantasy gaming world, she was given stats and abilities, but she was not the only one who had received those gifts.

Being a newbie and didn't know what to do, she followed a group like her. However, she didn't last long with them when they all attempted to kill her because she was only saving one of their members by cutting her head off because she was badly injured. Why was she in the wrong when she only ended her suffering?

She roamed some more and was attached to multiple groups, but the ending was still the same. None understood her, and no one made any effort to understand her.

Until this point, when she was abducted and held inside this manor, a lot of players were crying and begging, and Florin wondered if that would work. She tried it before, but nothing happened. It never works.

But she still joined in for the fun of it.

And then this Jayson guy came in and started to massacre everyone. Florin's eyes sparkled, and she thought that he was like her. Maybe they could be friends? Could she no longer be alone now?

But the more she studied the man, the more she was convinced that they weren't alike. The man was a killer for the sake of it. There was no reason behind his murder but to be a slave in exchange for food and shelter. There was no art. No depth. He was empthy as he was ugly.

Florin sighed. It was better if Jayson was killing everyone because he was having fun. And not because it was his job or because he wanted to show off to others that he was a badass.

And then their eyes met, and she knew she was next. She didn't feel anything if she died. There was nothing for her in this world. Maybe she would cry and beg for the last time. At least her killer would feel good about killing her.

See? She was nice.

However, the death she was expecting didn't come when a man blocked the sword that was supposed to end her life. She didn't know how he broke free from his shackles when they were reduced to being mortal by those weird chains. She didn't notice him before, but one thing was for sure . . . that man would die.

It was evident from his dread-coated face, shaking voice, and trembling limbs that he had never killed before. And a player who killed countless lives would know that. Jayson would know that.

Florin giggled at the man's idiotic move. He could have escaped, but he chose to stay and confront Jayson instead. It was beyond stupid. The only thing he did was delay the inevitable. Nothing would come out from his stupidity but death.

Florin was so sure that the stupid guy would die, so she was surprised when the tables suddenly turned, and Jayson's two hands were ripped off from his shoulders.

Florin's eyes rounded when the guy stood to his feet. The cowardice man from before was nowhere to be found, and instead, the guy before them portrayed . . . nothing. No emotions. No expressions. Nothing.

His face was blank, and his eyes only showed calculative desires. He gave off a detachable air like everyone was dirt in his path.

He was very different from the guy before, and Florin wondered what had happened. Did the man have a double personality? How could that stupid, shaking guy before be the same confident man that was standing before them now? Who screamed nothing but danger.

Murderers were scary. But men with nothing to lose like the one she felt from the guy was scarier.

Florin blinked when one swipe of the man's sword, Jayson's head was cleanly cut into half.

How could a newbie player kill a player nearing hundreds of ATP? Was he just pretending before?

The others cried and asked for his help, but all Florin thought was, the guy was definitely not their savior. She could feel it. They were nothing in his eyes. That he could care less if they lived or died.

And then, the weirdest thing happened when their gazes met.

"Girl, right here, right now. I'll give you a choice. Come and serve me or die here and rot with the others."
