Chapter 152 A Scarebear . . . ?

It was a Scarebear!
It was a bear-like creature and usually docile omnivore that preferred to eat fruits than flesh. Normally, it looked like a round fluffy bear with some soft scale on its body which resembled a heart shape.
But when it was threatened or got scared, it could transform into a giant abomination with large, strong arms and claws, multiple rows of teeth, sturdy scales, and razor-sharp spikes.
In that form, Scarebear would lose its eyes and rely on its sharpened senses of hearing and smell, and it would blindly attack anything around it until it felt safe again.
It was quite docile and curios and most likely to approach strangers, but everyone was warned not to approach it due to the risk of accidentally spooking it.
"Let's go," I whispered, holding my breath. "Let's leave it while it's still busy."
"What are you talking about?" Roger stared at me like I was crazy. "There's only one instance that a student ever defeated a Scarebear. If we killed it, we'll not only receive huge EXP, gil, and items, but its mana core would surely get us that 10 000 CR points."
"And a contract," added Yuji.
"It's a Scarebear," I said with an edge.
Roger shrugged. "So what if it's a Scarebear? At most, its ATP is only nearing a hundred. If we work together, we will be able to defeat it."
"It's dangerous," I told them. "The [Monocle] only showed its superficial stat. Once it got scared and entered Berserk Mode, its ATP would change. We don't know what its ATP would be by then."
Roger sneered. "If you're scared. Then stay here, or you can go back."
The three then moved, attempting to ambush the Bear. They were blinded by their desperation for a contract and better life. I knew I wasn't the right person to lecture them because, according to them, I would never understand since I was blessed for being a BUG player and having a beautiful face that attracted even the son of an influential family.
My future was set in stone even if I would never work a day in my life.
I only took a deep breath and shook my head as I readied my staff to heal them.
"If things go wrong, then don't say that I didn't warn you." I put a good distance away from them. I didn't want to be in the line of the Bear when it attacks.
The Scarebear was minding its own business of eating berries while protecting its food from the other beasts that were coveting its food when arrows suddenly rained above it.
The Scarebear roared and shielded its head with its hands while Roger blinked behind it and punched it hard on its side.
Saliva spat from the Scarebear's mouth, and it flew sideways before it crushed on the ground. Not giving it a chance to recover, Nira attacked the Scarebear with fire.
Fire and water were the weakness of most beasts. However, Nira's low ATP couldn't even reduce 20% of the bear's HP.
Their intentions were clear. They wanted to end the Bear's life before it had the chance to enter Berserk Mode, but their damage was lacking.
Roger was quick on his feet and activated his skill, raining barraged of punches against the beast.
I was going to help them and cast [Reverse Heal] on the Bear to further lessen its HP when a loud roar stunned us in place.
The Scarebear's roar was so loud that it shook the ground and stunned everything within a hundred-meter radius. There were rustles everywhere, and they must be from beasts who scattered away from the area, afraid to be implicated from the bear's wrath.
[The Scarebear entered Berserk Mode!]
Before anyone could react, the beast slapped Roger to the side with just a simple swipe of its hand.
"Roger!"
At Yujie's horrified voice, my attention went to Roger, and my eyes stretched so wide when Roger was slowly turning into particles and disappeared.
With one strike, Roger was gone.
"N-no way . . ." I shook my head in dread. "This isn't just an ordinary Scarebear . . . it's a King!"
A King Scarebear had all its ATP in the three hundreds. Even veteran hunters would have a hard time killing it, much less a group of students that was fifty percent made up of noobs.
I couldn't believe that from all the Scarebear in the forest, we just had to stumble upon a King!
"Run!"
My warnings came too late when the Scarebear went on a rampage spree, and it attacked everything it could smell and hear.
Nira was the closest next to Roger, and the girl stood frozen in shock. Even without the effect of [Fear] from the roar that temporarily stunned us in place for ten seconds, Nira would still not move from how badly she was shaken.
Her gaze slowly turned towards my direction. I couldn't look away when she stared at me with tears-stained eyes and face full of anguish helplessness.
"H-help me . . ."
With one swipe of the Scarebear's claws, Nina's body was cut into multiple pieces.
I closed my eyes tight and bit back a scream. I didn't want to attract the beast's attention.
Within five seconds, two of my group mates died.
But the Scarebear didn't care and went after Yujie next. The man was parched over a tree, and the best quickly leaped from branches to branches like it weighed nothing.
And in a fraction of a second, it was in front of Yujie.
Still stunned, Yujie could do nothing but scream in fear.
"HeeEeLpP! I don't want to die!"
His screams didn't help to save his head from detaching on his shoulders at all.
As soon as the stun effect was over, I yelled at Thomas. "Run!"
Without another word, I [Teleported] away from the area. My [Teleportation] skill only worked once per day and could only teleport me a hundred meters away because it was still low level.
I didn't know what happened to Thomas, but I wasn't in a situation where I could worry about others right now.
One slap from the Scarebear, and I was a goner.
After teleporting, I ran my fastest. Using the map of the area, I retraced the path back to the entrance of the woodlands when a loud roar almost made me stumble on my feet.
