Chapter 3 [Part 1] - What Curse?

Chapter 3 [Part 1] – What Curse?

‘No…..Why is this man here?’

As soon as I caught a glimpse of the man’s face, I remembered that night.

The night when we lost our necks for the crime of revolting.

10 years have passed since then. Yes, ten years.

‘No…..It’s been 10 years. Why can I recognize him at a glance?’

Shouldn’t I have at least examined his face further and think, ‘Who is he? I think I saw him somewhere.’

I lived thinking that Renna Cornelli’s memories had faded away. Now, I realized that it was just an illusion of mine.

“Kal……igo?”

Ashia muttered his name unconsciously.

Then, Kaligo’s insensitive, slender gaze moved slowly.

“…..I see, Grand Duke.”

My heart sank when I called his name without even realizing it.

Fortunately, the name of her ex-husband and the male protagonist of the novel are the same. That is also the reason why Ashia remembers the man.

Naturally, he lowered his head slightly as she let go of the hem of her dress and lifted her head. Beyond her hood, she could see the man’s face in front of her in a little more detail.

‘Wow, he really….looks like him.’

His face was identical to her ex-husband, Kaligo Edmund.

Dark eyebrows like that of an artwork’s, and red eyes with an indifferent and languid atmosphere around them. Those were the eyes of the man who stared at Ashia.

‘No…..Maybe they just have similar features.’

Ashia began to take a closer look at him starting from his slick, seductive hair.

‘He’s not him. He’s not him. Find proof that he’s not him. ’

His height soared above hers’ and his magnificent figure was enough to cover her whole body.

He was like a predator who reigned at the top of the food chain and was slow yet oppressive.

Contrary to her earnest desire, he was too much alike with her husband to only be regarded as similar.

‘I must be crazy…….’

If that’s not Kaligo, then who the hell is he?

Again, the man moved one step closer to her.

In response, all the lamps in the office turned on at once.

As her dark vision brightened, the Grand Duke’s appearance became clearer.

“I should’ve visited you myself, but my condition is far worse than it seems.”

The man spoke in a low voice with no trace of arrogance.

I only thought he looked similar to him, but his voice, tone, and beautiful and noble atmosphere were appallingly the same.

‘He’s definitely Kaligo.’

Upon realizing that it was him, I was shaken for a while as I still naively believed that it might be someone else.

I was furious, but when I reincarnated in the novel, I never said that no one wasn’t allowed to do the same.

Including my ex-husband.

‘Come to think of it, the temperature in the room suddenly dropped ever since I realized that the male lead and my ex-husband’s name were the same.’

Still, I never thought that this Kaligo would be my ex-husband.

She suppressed her thoughts to try to calm her thumping heart.

Ashia wasn’t quick-witted, but her ability to understand and adapt to the situation wasn’t bad.

‘Calm down. If you think of the many things that you’ve been through….you’ll be fine. Everything will work out.’

Can this be considered a simple matter? Can I treat my reunion with my ex-husband, who died with me, as something of minor importance?

‘No, that reason does not suffice for me to be desperate to reunite with him with a passionate hug and a sweet kiss, does it?”

Of course, I had many questions.

How were we able to come here? How do I remember my memories of my past life? Why did we revolt? Why did we have to die that way?

I wanted to ask those questions and hear proper explanations right away.

However, this man is the male lead of the novel.

I’d be glad to reunite with my ex-husband, but he’s the main character of this novel now.

Ashia gently rubbed her neck, which was somehow calming.

Is it vicious of me to say that he might be the person who’ll cause blood to appear and complicate my peaceful life?

‘Ha…….’

She took a deep breath that was low enough for him not to hear.

As if taking a deep breath worked, she was finally able to maintain her composure and stop her eyes from trembling.

She calmly raised her hand above her head and naturally pulled the hood over to the tip of her nose.

The most important thing to her now was to hide her face in front of the man who might be her ex-husband.

“No, Your Highness. Rather, it’s an honor to meet the Grand Duke in person, whom I’ve only heard about before.”

“……Is that so?”

Followed by his heavy voice, his piercing gaze poured upon Ashia.

Even though the hood was covering half of my face, I could obviously feel his glare.

His glare was as hot and prickly as his red eyes.

Kaligo, who looked at her for a while, beckoned and started walking towards the sofa.

“First of all, let’s sit down and talk.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”
