Chapter 5 [Part 2] - In A Locked Room

Chapter 5 [Part 2] – In A Locked Room

Ashia, who was taken aback, hurriedly rose from her seat.

She reached out her hand in a hurry to stop Kaligo’s hand, but his movements were a little faster than hers.

Before she could even say, “I’ll place this on the palm of your hand.”, he had already started moving.

The mana stone engraved on the necklace, which was held by Kaligo, began to emit plenty of light.

Ashia, who was frightened, placed her hands over Kaligo’s and shut her eyelids tightly.

In an instant, a light flashed through his hand and permeated the whole office.

The little fellow, who gave off a colorful, brilliant light, disliked the sudden unexpected situation very much. In particular, it had the habit of exploding its power when it was directly touched by others without going through Ashia.

His power was very dangerous, even more so since he was touched by a rude man without permission. There was only one person whom he recognized as his master, Ashia.

But…..

‘Huh?’

Contrary to what she had imagined, somehow, nothing much happened.

Kaligo, who was holding the necklace, only stared at the light that was emitted through his fingers.

“……..”

“……..”

Then, Ashia took a deep breath before slowly slumping against the sofa.

“Wow…..I had to supervise it for 10 years.”

The mana stone in his grasp only gave off one red light. It was a pure fire property without any other attributes mixed in.

As the red light emitted by the mana stone went through his hand, a large black vein popped out of the back of his hand.

“Are you okay? You’re not hurt anywhere, are you?”

“I am, I just feel a little hot.”

Ashia’s eyes drooped down to ascertain his attributes once again.

“Your Highness…..was a pure fire attribute without any other properties.”

“…………”

It is easier to make potions for those people who have pure attributes as fewer ingredients are required in comparison to those with mixed attributes, but they cannot use ingredients of high class.

‘However, the ingredients used are of high class. Is it only to be expected because you are the main character…..?’

The main reason why the potions of the wizards from the council, the temple, or the Grand Duke’s residence were not effective. It could’ve been because they weren’t able to properly grasp Kaligo’s attribute, but even if that wasn’t the case, it would’ve been hard to get the ingredients.

No one probably has tried to cure him earnestly because of his threatening atmosphere and the wildness of his breath. Rather, they must’ve been busy trying to escape from him.

It was a bit unfortunate. Had they figured out and grasped his attribute in advance, he might’ve gotten help from Ashia sooner, even if they did not make a suitable potion and ran away for the fear of losing their lives.

A faint sigh came from Ashia’s mouth.

“That was dangerous. You should’ve kept listening until I finished speaking.”

“……That was thoughtless of me.”

“………..”

At Ashia’s reproachful words, Kaligo took out an apple at once. It was difficult to hear from a high-ranking nobleman’s lips that he admits his mistake, yet she actually heard it from him.

Because of that, Ashia, who was about to continue talking, just shut her lips after.

When Kaligo unfolded his fist, the mana stone engraved on the necklace gave off a stronger red glow.

“Is there anything I should do after?”

“…….Wait.”

Upon hearing her answer, Kaligo tilted his head.

“Wait?”

“That’s…..right.”

Ashia, who was grumbling, scratched her cheek and said in a low voice.

“We’re out of ingredients necessary in making the potions of those people who have the fire attribute.”

“……You’re saying you can’t make the potion right away?”

“Yes. Especially since only a few people look for the ingredients required, I think it’ll take a while.”

“Are you saying you’re going to get the ingredients yourself?”

Ashia took the necklace from him and hung it around her neck and continued talking.

“Yes. I can’t promise you an exact date because I have overdue requests, but I’ll try to make them as soon as possible.”

“……….”

She then rose up from her seat and fixed her robe again.

“First and foremost, please continue taking the potion you have at the moment until I get back.”

“…….I’ll do that.”

Following Ashia, Kaligo also rose up from his seat.

Then came the sound of someone speaking outside the office with a knock on its door.

“Your Grade, this is Redin.”

“Come in.”

As soon as permission was given for him to enter, the door of the office opened, and the man who had brought Ashia here came in.

After pausing for a moment, he quickly walked towards Kaligo and said,

“Your Highness, he has arrived.”

He didn’t specify who arrived, but Kaligo must’ve already been aware of his identity.

At Redin’s words, his forehead became wrinkled again.

“Go down, I’ll see you off.”

Kaligo said while looking at Ashia and reaching his hand out to the door. Meanwhile, Ashia flinched as she was startled by his words as if she heard a grotesque sound.

“What?! No need! I can go alone.”

It was more than enough for Redin to see me off. But now, I can’t believe the Grand Duke will accompany me on my way home when he is already burdensome as is.

Upon hearing his words, the potion I had just taken almost caused me to suffer from indigestion.

Sadly, however, it seems like Kaligo isn’t willing to comply with Ashia’s wishes.

“I’m afraid that a shabby person might cling onto the precious guest I have brought.”

“Pardon?”

A shabby person? He must be talking about the man Redin mentioned earlier. But, who the hell is that person Kaligo is so displeased with?

Kaligo left the office first, while Ashia followed him from behind.

***

As I followed Kaligo until we reached the first floor, unlike when I arrived, employees moving busily came into sight.

‘What is wrong…..What’s with this atmosphere?’

Walking behind Kaligo, she looked around on her way out of the mansion.

They walked on a straightened road between the splendid gardens. After a while, when they nearly reached the main gate,

“Kaligo.”

The voice of a young man calling Kaligo was heard in front of the two.

“Where are you going?”

At the man’s question, Kaligo stood in front of Ashia, covering her completely.

“Stay inside. I’ll be right back.”

“………”

Kaligo, who gave him a brief answer, turned around again to face Ashia and led her to the carriage. However, the man seemed to have no intention of entering the mansion quietly.

“Stop.”

The man’s voice was heard again once the two started heading towards the carriage.

“Who is that woman?”

Eventually, the two, who were walking towards the carriage, were forced to halt.
