Chapter 228 - 228 Repairs

228 Repairs

Qiao Yue used to be a conservator-restorer. She had restored cultural relics as well as old buildings. Her understanding of the style and structure of ancient city towers was no less than any expert’s.

It was not difficult for her to repair a stage prop created by students.

She walked up to the pile of Styrofoam and collected the scattered pieces and nails.

Qiao Yue placed the pieces together in the same order as before. Other than the connection points which had been destroyed, there was no other damage.

“Does anyone have a pair of scissors?” Qiao Yue asked.

Someone quickly handed her a pair of scissors. Qiao Yue cut one of the Styrofoam boards from the middle and a few uneven shapes at the joint.

Xu Hao, who was watching, was a little confused. “Qiao Yue, are you planning to nail them together?”

Qiao Yue shook her head. If she used nails to connect the damaged parts together, it was easy to damage it further with vibration from the floor.

The method she used was to attach the boards together with tab and slot joints. This way, the structure would be stable, but there wouldn’t be enough boards.

Thus, she would have to alter the design of the city tower.

This was, of course, also not a problem for Qiao Yue. She was an ancient architecture enthusiast. She had seen many structures of ancient buildings, and it was easy to find a template to build a prop city tower.

Very quickly, she finished the repairs.

The finished city tower looked sturdier than before, and more stylish.

Everyone gathered around, and some even reached out to touch it carefully.

“This structure is very stable. It can withstand touching.” Qiao Yue explained with a smile.

Qiao Xin looked at the repaired city tower indignantly. “Isn’t it still a prop? It’ll break with a kick. It’s still made out of paper!”

Qiao Xin said as she walked over to kick the prop again.

Qiao Yue’s classmates all stood in front of Qiao Xin.

Qiao Yu said, “Qiao Xin, don’t be so childish. If you still act childishly, I’ll go back and tell Grandpa.”

Tell Grandpa?

Qiao Xin rolled her eyes at Qiao Yu.

“Qiao Yu, don’t think that just because you’re well-liked by the adults in the family, you can complain as you please. If you are going to report me, do you have any evidence?”

“Of course,” Qiao Yue said to Qiao Xin as he pointed at the surveillance camera on the ceiling.

“The school hall is an important place in school. There are surveillance cameras everywhere.”

Qiao Xin didn’t say more. She just rolled her eyes furiously at Qiao Yu and Qiao Yue and walked out.

Hong Ning walked up to Qiao Yue and patted him on the shoulder. “Thanks so much. If it weren’t for you, I really wouldn’t know how to explain this to our form teacher.”

“It’s fine. It’s a small matter. Anything to ensure that our class performance go well.” Qiao Yue said to Hong Ning with a smile.

Suddenly, there was a heart-wrenching scream from the crowd.

A girl in her performance outfit was sitting on the ground in pain, holding her foot.

“What’s wrong?” Hong Ning hurried over.

Blood flowed from the girl’s fingertips. Upon closer inspection, she had probably just stepped on a nail.

Everyone hurriedly brought over the first aid kit.

Hong Ning disinfected the girl’s injured foot with gauze and alcohol.

“The nail probably had bacteria and rust on it. You should get a tetanus shot soon.” Qiao Yue said.

The girl nodded her head in pain and grabbed Hong Ning’s hand. “I’m really sorry. I didn’t see it just now. I only realized after I stepped on it. I’m really sorry about today’s performance.”

Hong Ning’s mind was in a mess. “I’ll think of a way.”

This girl was in charge of the sword dance solo. She was quite tall, so her clothes wouldn’t fit many girls.

It would be difficult to find a girl who could do a sword dance wearing her costume.

Hong Ning glanced at the boys in the class. None of them looked like they knew how to dance.

“We’re done for. Why don’t we delete that part of the music?” Hong Ning looked at a practice video on her phone.

“If we delete part of it, our class performance would be too short and we might lose our chance to win the award,” a classmate reminded.

“But I don’t think anyone can learn the moves so quickly.”

Just as they were frowning, Qiao Yue watched the dance sequence on the practice video and sighed, “If there’s no one else, I’ll do it.”

Everyone turned around and looked at Qiao Yue.

“Qiao Yue, you know how to dance?”
