Chapter 237 - 237 In Trouble

237 In Trouble

When the two of them arrived at the Qiao residence, it was already dinner time.

There was an unexpected guest here today: Qiao Ze.

Qiao Ze had brought an ordinary looking man with black-rimmed glasses to the Qiao residence.

He stared at Qiao Yue the moment they walked in.

Old Master Qiao did not say anything about Qiao Ze’s return. He just asked Qiao Ze to join them for dinner.

Qiao Li and Qiao Xin were also seated at the dining table.

There were still tears on Qiao Xin’s face as she glared at Qiao Yue viciously.

Qiao Li stared at Qiao Jing without a word.

No one dared to mention Qiao Xin’s matter.

The Qiao family had always advocated kindness towards others. Qiao Xin’s actions were disgraceful and brought shame to the family.

But compared to Qiao Xin, Qiao Jing’s actions made Qiao Li even angrier. In such a situation, he should have defended his family unconditionally. But Qiao Jing sided with Qiao Yue to deal with Qiao Xin.

Qiao Jing was his usual self as he chatted and ate with Old Master Qiao.

No one at the table brought up Qiao Xin’s matter.

Old Master Qiao’s health had just turned better. If Qiao Xin’s matter was brought up, it would upset Old Master Qiao to the point of relapse.

Although Qiao Li wasn’t capable, he was afraid to bear the consequences if he upset the old master.

So, he just kept quiet as he glared angrily at Qiao Yue and Qiao Jing.

Old Master Qiao noticed Qiao Xin’s abnormal behavior. “Xiao Xin, what’s wrong? Did something happen at school? Why are you crying?”

Qiao Xin dared not mention that she had been suspended from school, so she sobbed to her grandfather, “I’m just upset and blaming myself for not getting first place at the school anniversary show.”

Qiao Yue looked at Qiao Xin in surprise. Qiao Xin did have some talent as an artiste because she could cry on command.

“But it’s good that Qiao Yue’s class got first place.”

Although she was complimenting Qiao Yue, Qiao Yue could hear the grudge in her words.

“That’s good. Second place isn’t too shabby either.” Old Master Qiao nodded. “Qiao Yue did well this time. Next time, Qiao Xin will do better and win first place.”

“That’s right. Qiao Yue will do better next time and win first place.” Qiao Li said as he fixed his gaze on Qiao Yue.

He realized that he’d really underestimated Qiao Yue. A few days ago, when Qiao Yi was kicked out of the house, he’d thought that it was because of the conflict between Qiao Yi and the old master. It looked like Qiao Yue was the catalyst.

Today’s incident made him realize that Qiao Yue was no simpleton.

He hadn’t been living at the Qiao residence for long, but he had managed to get the people with the right to speak in the family, from Old Master Qiao to Qiao Jing, on his side.

Although Qiao Xin had butt heads many times with Qiao Yue, she had never suffered any substantial damage. But today, Qiao Yue had actually reported Qiao Xin to the principal of Harvey.

Qiao Xin would probably have to stay home for at least half a year before she could go back to school.

Although this was beneficial for the execution of Qiao Li’s plan, the thought that everything was masterminded by Qiao Yue scared him.

Old Master Qiao said to Qiao Yue, “You’ve done well in your exams and extra-curricular activities. Let your brother take you out to celebrate Christmas.”

Christmas. Qiao Yue was heartened.

Christmas was not a traditional holiday in C-Country, so people didn’t pay much attention to it. It was just a school holiday for the Harvey students, a day for them to go out with friends.

When Qiao Yue was still at the Godfather’s side, she had celebrated Christmas a few times.

People at the organization would gather, have a Christmas feast, and then exchange gifts.

Christmas was also a time when everyone would be off mission, so the base would be decorated like a real home.

Although Qiao Yue hadn’t been back at the base for a long time, the mention of Christmas made her miss the rare idle days at the organization.

The organization had changed a lot recently. She couldn’t help but have doubts about it.

Qiao Yue was a little distracted as she thought about this. She didn’t notice that the man beside Qiao Ze was looking at her.

“Let me introduce to everyone – this is a talent manager who’s a close friend of mine.” Qiao Ze introduced the man to everyone. “He’s here today to discuss collaboration with our family.”

Cheng Yang looked at the Qiao’s and smiled politely. “My name is Cheng Yang and I’m an agent.”
