Chapter 254 - 254 Taken Ill

254 Taken Ill

Qiao Yue’s mind was racing.

The air in the school garden was quite fresh. She took a few deep breaths to let the fresh air calm her nerves.

Even so, she still felt a little dizzy.

She wasn’t a person who was afraid of difficulties, but recent events had been somewhat out of her control.

Most people in the organization didn’t notice anything abnormal about the Godfather, or that the organization was moving in a direction that was somewhat out of control.

She hadn’t even completed her investigations and she kept hitting dead ends.

With the appearance of Oswald, she began to doubt the organization and the Godfather’s real purpose.

It was as if the whole world was forcing her to give up what she was doing and go back to safety.

Today was a cloudy day. Qiao Yue looked up at the sky and saw no sun or fluffy white clouds. Only dark clouds covered the sky. Even her mood became sullen.

Qiao Yu didn’t feel at ease leaving Qiao Yue alone in the garden, so he followed her and watched her from a distance. He was afraid that something would happen to her.

In Qiao Yu’s eyes, Qiao Yue had always been a mysterious and independent person. However, Qiao Yue appeared weak today, exhibiting a vulnerability that Qiao Yu had never seen before.

His vulnerability seemed to come out of nowhere.

Just as Qiao Yu felt that Qiao Yue was fine and was about to go back, Qiao Yue’s legs seemed to have given way and he fell to the ground.

Qiao Yu rushed over, picked Qiao Yue up and ran to the school infirmary.

Qiao Jing took the earliest flight back home. He wasn’t finished with his affairs abroad yet, but he rushed home as soon as he heard that Qiao Yue was in trouble.

Qiao Yue had already been sent back to her room.

When Qiao Jing pushed open the door, he saw Qiao Yu sitting by Qiao Yue’s bed.

Qiao Yue was lying in bed, her cheeks and lips pale. She looked very fragile, like a paper doll that would break at the slightest touch.

And she was on an IV drip.

“What happened?” Qiao Jing asked with a frown.

Qiao Yu turned his head slowly to look at Qiao Jing. “It’s just low blood sugar. Our school and St. Faustina’s had a hacking competition today. He’s probably too tired, so he fainted.”

Qiao Jing heaved a sigh of relief at Qiao Yu’s reply. “I’ve already asked Lu Ying to come over. He’ll help take care of Qiao Yue.”

Qiao Yu could tell that Qiao Jing was asking him to leave.

He looked at Qiao Jing and chuckled. “Are you the only one who knows about fifth brother?”

Qiao Jing was confused, but his face remained cold. “What about?”

“You are not going to tell me, right?” Qiao Yu looked at Qiao Jing, his eyes cold.

Their relationship wasn’t bad but they seemed to be at each other’s throats now.

Qiao Jing narrowed his eyes. “What secret does Qiao Yue have? I’d like to know as well.”

“When fifth brother was inexplicably injured last time, you were the one who saved him, right? All the doctors were your people, second brother.” Qiao Yu replied coldly.

“You guys also seem to be planning something that I don’t know about.” Qiao Yu looked at Qiao Jing coldly. “I don’t know why fifth brother is hiding it from me, nor do I know what your plan is, but you’d better not do anything to him.”

Qiao Yu stared at Qiao Jing, his mask of obedience completely off.

Qiao Jing did not speak and just stood there quietly.

He already knew what Qiao Yu was talking about. “He didn’t mean to hide it from you. I only found out by accident.”

Qiao Yu walked up to Qiao Jing and looked at him, his eyes full of distrust.

He smelled a familiar scent on Qiao Jing. It was the scent of the perfume Qiao Jing had bought for Qiao Yue a few days ago.

The smell was exactly the same. In the past, he would have thought that the two brothers were too mushy together, but now Qiao Yu understood everything.

“Qiao Jing, you should hide your feelings.” Qiao Yu stood up and walked towards the door. “I know how you feel about fifth brother but think about it. Will Grandpa and the rest agree? Will fifth brother agree?”

“I don’t think I asked it correctly. I should have asked – will fifth sister agree?”

The door slammed shut behind Qiao Jing.
