Chapter 37.2 – Your Highness, Sweet (2)

By the time Liu Chen got outside the House of Happiness in a hurry, the princess’s carriage had already gone far away.

The bright sign on the carriage was one from the palace. The identity of Lu Qipei’s “fiancée” was clear. But now that everything had been confirmed, Liu Chen no longer felt complacent – there was only some kind of fear that disaster was imminent.

Qi Yang had not gone out of the palace for several days. The Emperor had already expressed that he didn’t care about a marriage alliance, and no one else had seen the letter of credence. But with the rumors spreading around, there were still people who came up with ideas.

The Third Prince was the most active among them. He didn’t want Qi Yang’s marriage to increase the Crown Prince’s power, and he also personally had some disagreements with Qi Yang. It would be the best choice to send her to the political marriage. So without waiting for the Emperor to make a statement, he had already made his move and connected all kinds of people in the imperial court.

He couldn’t wait to make the marriage a reality, to pack up and send this thorn in the eye of a sister to the barbarians’ land.

Of course, Qi Yang wasn’t someone who could be easily bullied. The Crown Prince also knew what the Third Prince was thinking – he actually despised this ambitious but incompetent younger brother of his. But his mother’s family was powerful, and he also had a lot of influence in the court. The two were always opposing each other.

In the past, to keep the powers balanced and decentralized, the Emperor would not put too much pressure on the Third Prince. But this time, he had gone too far.

Not to mention that what he did was against what the Emperor wanted, his ability to connect all kinds of people in the court was something that made the Emperor apprehensive. And the most important was; by rushing to send a princess to a marriage alliance like this, where would the great Liang State’s dignity go?

The brother and sister almost didn’t need to think about it – they knew that the Third Prince would probably offend the Emperor this time, and he would be out of luck. Of course they were happy to see this happen, and they also wanted to kick him while he was down and pour oil on the fire.

The past few days, Qi Yang had seen all kinds of joke about the disgraced Third Prince in the palace. She was just thinking of how to kick him when he was down when she unexpectedly received news that Lu Qipei went to the House of Happiness for a drink with other people.

It wasn’t a big deal for Lu Qipei to drink with others, so Qi Yang didn’t pay much attention to it at first. She just thought that Lu Qipei’s identity as a woman disguising as a man should be covered up well, so she had some hidden guards keep an eye on her so she wouldn’t get drunk and cause any trouble.

It wasn’t too much trouble for the hidden guards. In order to ensure her safety, they quickly checked the House of Happiness and the people who invited her to drink, and they easily found out the problem.

Liu Chen wasn’t some sort of master schemer either. This young man in his early twenties was ambitious, but his methods were still immature. Whether it was the drugged cup of wine, the fake carriage coachman or the other stuff planned for afterwards, they were all already found out over the course of their banquet.

With the hidden guards protecting Lu Qipei, there was really no more problem. But Qi Yang was still worried, which led to the scene where she personally intercepted Lu Qipei outside the House of Happiness.

She managed to intercept Lu Qipei, but Qi Yang was still angry. She poked the person leaning against her with her finger and complained, “Just how were you raised? How could you be so defenseless!?”

She didn’t know what kind of drug Liu Chen used. Lu Qipei was dizzy as if she was drunk, but she never really fell asleep. After Qi Yang poked her, she opened her hazy and drunken eyes. Her black eyes glistened with water and she said innocently, “Your Highness?”

Tonight, all she could do was say ‘Your Highness’. Qi Yang was helpless and could only preach to her after she wakes up tomorrow.

But as soon as Qi Yang thought like that, she felt something hot on her cheeks as she was kissed! She turned around in surprise, but the kiss immediately fell on her lips. It was warm and soft, with the familiar plum blossom fragrance, not the smell of wine like one would expect.

This was probably the first time Lu Qipei took the initiative to kiss her. In the past, it was always Qi Yang who tried to get more intimate with her.

Although she knew the one in front of her right now was a ‘drunkard’, Qi Yang’s heart still beat harder unrestrainedly. Her eyes flickered and she subconsciously grabbed Lu Qipei’s slender shoulders to deepen the kiss, but the latter withdrew at this moment.

Lu Qipei still looked drunk, and she was indeed not sober yet. The moment the two separated, Qi Yang saw her sticking out her tongue and licking her lips. The small residue of Qi Yang’s red lip balm left on Lu Qipei’s lips entered her mouth.

In the end, she smacked her lips and made a silly laugh, saying, “Sweet.”

Qi Yang’s face immediately turned bright red. In the end, she was still an inexperienced little girl. No matter how deeply in love she was with Lu Qipei in her previous life, they were already separated by yin and yang back then. She took more initiative in this life, but Lu Qipei had always been hesitant to move forward.

Qi Yang teased her over and over and didn’t feel anything, but now she felt embarrassed when the tables were turned.

However, Lu Qipei didn’t realize how ambiguous her words and actions were. She just felt that she wasn’t satisfied yet, so she put her arms around Qi Yang’s neck and leaned in to taste the sweetness of those lips again.

Qi Yang covered her mouth and pushed her away, not wanting to let the drunkard molest her anymore. As a result, the hot kiss fell on her palm instead.
