Chapter 59.1 – The Prince Consort’s Slyness (1)

Lu Qipei suddenly snapped back from conjecture. Before she could feel pleasantly surprised, she was overwhelmed in a massive panic.

Of course she loved Qi Yang. That she could accept the person in front of her so quickly in this life was mostly due to the foundation that had been laid in the past life. The Qi Yang she loved was the Qi Yang from the previous life, but also the Qi Yang from this life. The Qi Yang she wanted to make up to was the Qi Yang from this life, but also the Qi Yang from the previous life.

However, people’s behaviors were often like a paradox. When she didn’t know anything, Lu Qipei could approach her confidently and boldly. She could treat her well fearlessly, and did everything she could to make up for her regret. But when she was really facing the person she had been feeling guilty towards, the guilt and regret instantly overwhelmed her and filled her with a sense of fear and shame.

When she looked up again, her eyes met Qi Yang’s gaze. It looked inexplicably determined, but somehow also relaxed.

Lu Qipei’s lips shook, but no words would come out. She suddenly stood up, turned around and ran.

Right now, facing what was once her little princess, all she could think about was running away.

Qi Yang was caught off guard by her reaction. When she came back to her senses, she silently scolded her for being really spineless, but her hand did not slow down. Since Lu Qipei had run ahead of her and it was too late to try to catch up, she raised her teacup and threw it at the private room’s door.

The white porcelain teacup accurately hit the closed door. With a crisp “bang” sound, it instantly burst and its content splashed out. A piece flew towards Lu Qipei, who had almost reached the door. She quickly raised her hand to block it, and her hurried steps briefly stopped.

After this stop, there was no further need to continue thinking about running away, because Her Royal Highness The Princess’s voice had already sounded right behind her. “Where is Prince Consort going?”

The back of Lu Qipei who had run in shame suddenly froze. When she calmed down, she realized how guilty she felt when she turned around and ran away. And where could she escape to anyway? In this life, she had already given up everything to the little princess!

Thinking about it, she felt a little resigned to her fate.

Lu Qipei closed her eyes, breathed out, then finally turned around and walked back.

She sat down opposite to Qi Yang again, her clear eyes looking at her. This time, Her Royal Highness did not hold back her aura anymore. The sixteen years old princess suddenly became more graceful, her whole temperament turning mature and noble…

Although Qi Yang had not said anything explicit from the start to the end, Lu Qipei had lost the last shred of thought that everything that had happened was just a fluke. She looked at her while feeling helpless and guilty, her thin lips opening and closing a few times before she finally said, “Ah Ning, I’m sorry.”

Ah Ning was Qi Yang’s real name. Other than the Lu Qipei on the previous life, basically no one would call her that. Even the Emperor and the Crown Prince would usually call her My Child or Royal Sister, all called her by her title1.

This name seemed as if it had been sealed away with her Mother Consort’s death. That is, until she met that youth who came out from under the flower trees on that peach blossom forest, who made her tell her name in a daze.

Qi Yang’s eyes looked wet for a moment. At this moment, she was staring at the person in front of her, not knowing what to say.

Two people who had let each other slip away once before was once again brought together by destiny’s joke. Was it something to feel glad about? It should. But both of them had experienced too much sorrow and pain. When they saw their old acquaintance again, somehow, they suddenly felt as if they were no longer the same person.

Qi Yang was restless, and so was Lu Qipei. But when Lu Qipei saw the tears in Qi Yang’s eyes, she couldn’t help but panic a little. She hurriedly took out a handkerchief from her sleeves, but she didn’t know whether she should give it to her or not.

I have never seen such a dense person!

Qi Yang secretly grumbled and raised her hand to grab the handkerchief from Lu Qipei’s hand, then wiped the tears from her eyes.

Lu Qipei breathed a sigh of relief. She finally realized that the person in front of her was still the little princess she knew.

She didn’t feel resentful due to her deception in the previous life, nor did she stop thinking of her as her previous spouse and give up being acquainted with her. In fact, she had even actively pursued her… Qi Yang’s heart had never changed, and even became firmer with the tempering of time.

Instantly, all her restlessness seemed to disappear. Lu Qipei’s gaze at Qi Yang turned gentle again.

Seeing that Qi Yang was ignoring her, Lu Qipei suddenly stood up again. Qi Yang was startled by this action, almost thinking that Lu Qipei was going to run away at the drop of a hat again – you should know that the originally good atmosphere from recognizing each other again had been ruined because Lu Qipei had tried to run away without saying a word. If she dared to try running again, instead of hugging each other while reminiscing the past, she would just choose to break Lu Qipei’s legs to save herself from further worry!

Fortunately, Lu Qipei was still left with a little bit of survival instinct. She only got up to walk around the table and get in front of Qi Yang. She squatted down in front of her, looked up at Qi Yang, and repeated, “Ah Ning, I’m sorry.”

While saying that, Lu Qipei put one hand on Qi Yang’s knee and apologized with a tender gaze. She looked just like a poor little kitten.

Qi Yang was suddenly reminded of Lu Qipei’s expression when she was drunk that day; this tender Prince Consort was simply irresistible. She took a deep breath and raised her hand to touch Lu Qipei’s cheek, and the latter really started rubbing her face against her hand…

Her Royal Highness The Princess withdrew her hand without any expression on her face, and rubbed the tips of her fingers for a while. For the first time, she was feeling her Prince Consort’s slyness.

Author notes:

Qi Yang (tsk tsk): My Prince Consort would pretend to be cute and pitiful… what a delightful surprise!

Lu Qipei (…): It’s what life forced on me. I still want to survive, so what else can I do?

Qi Yang (patting her head): Good girl~

Lu Qipei: playing stupid and rubbing Her Highness’ palm
