Chapter 67.2 – The Consequences of Willfulness

Although there wasn’t anything important to do, in the end, it was too embarrassing if Qi Yang laid in bed all day.

Before lunch, Lu Qipei pinched Qi Yang’s waist with her amateur-ish technique. Although she lost track of how many times that certain someone said she was going, Lu Qipei finally rescued Her Royal Highness The Princess from the bed successfully.

The two of them had lunch together as snow fell again outside. This gave Qi Yang an excuse not to go out – not going out of the mansion of course, but since she married to the Lu family, she should have at least walked around to look at the mansion.

Fortunately, it was snowy and cold outside, so there was no need to go for a stroll at the mansion. The two simply stayed nestled in the warm room and spent the first day of their marriage lazily.

Lu Qipei peeled an orange for Qi Yang and casually said, “This mansion is just a temporary residence anyway, and it’s not that beautiful. And I will be moving in to the princess’s mansion with you in a few days, so it doesn’t matter if you look at it or not.”

Qi Yang looked at her delicate eyes and brows and smiled. A peeled orange was delivered to her mouth, and she parted her red lips slightly to take it in. Intentionally or not, the lips brushed against Lu Qipei’s finger, leaving a small red mark.

Lu Qipei’s fingertip trembled, and she looked at Qi Yang helplessly.

After calming her heart, Lu Qipei also ate a piece of range and said, “I’ll take a break today, tomorrow I’ll be busy going around again. Ah Ning, what’s the plan?”

Marriage was a union between two families, regardless of status. So when a bride was married, she would have to greet the elders on the first day of marriage, meet the family, and even walk around with the relatives. It could be said that there was not a moment of leisure.

But there weren’t a lot of people in the Lu family, and Lu Qipei didn’t really have any family elders for Qi Yang to meet. Even the so-called uncle whose house they stayed in for the Spring Exam was found to only be a subordinate, so there was no need to visit him.

As a result, there was no need to do anything for Lu Qipei’s side of the family, and only Qi Yang’s was left.

Qi Yang unconcernedly bit a piece of orange from Lu Qipei’s hand when she heard this, then said, “There’s nothing here either. I grew up with Royal Father and the Crown Prince, and I’m not very close with my other brothers and sisters. Now Royal Brother is far away at the northern border. As for the others, it’s fine to go there a few days later.”

It wasn’t good to go too early, as if they had gotten close as soon as her Royal Brother left.

Of course, Lu Qipei listened to whatever Qi Yang said. The two of them lovey-doveyly shared a whole orange and chatted about other things. But at the beginning of their marriage, they wouldn’t talk about any heavy topics, so they just talked about romance in a relaxed and comfortable manner.

It was only in winter would you be able to sleep so well in the middle of the day. Later on, Qi Yang started to feel a little sleepy again on the soft chair.

Lu Qipei felt a little distressed when she saw that Qi Yang was going to sleep again. She got up to ask her to go back to bed, but then she heard a knock on the door outside. She stopped and turned around, then asked aloud, “What is it?”

Zhi Ting’s voice sounded from outside the door. “Prince Consort, I have something to report to Her Highness.”

Qi Yang blinked and instantly woke up when she heard the conversation. She said, “Come in.”

The door was opened softly, and Zhi Ting stepped inside the room wrapped by the cold wind from outside. She closed the door and walked around the screen1, then bowed and reported, “Your Highness, I just received news that the Third Prince has returned to the capital.”

Hearing that, Qi Yang sat up, a little surprised. “Why did he come back? Royal Father didn’t order him to return, right?”

Having said that, Qi Yang could not help but think about the recent news. The wedding date had been approaching, so she had put most of her mind on it and didn’t pay too much attention to the Crown Prince and the northern border.

Could it be that when she didn’t pay attention, the Third Prince had sent a letter back to the capital and managed to persuade the Emperor to change his mind and call him back? Or did the Third Prince’s Mother Consort do something in the royal harem?

While Qi Yang was thinking, Zhi Ting’s expression looked strange, and she finally mumbled, “I heard that the Third Prince was defeated and fled back, so he looked very embarrassed…”

As soon as those words came out, Qi Yang’s expression turned even more ugly. Lu Qipei and Qi Yang looked at each other with uncertainty – the Third Prince fled back to the capital, did something wrong happen in the northern border!?
