Chapter 79.2 – Want Me To Feed You Too?

The structure of a family always seemed inseparable from the existence called children. The two had been married for three years; they loved each other very much, and this had never changed.

But at the same time, when no news of offspring came, there would always be some rumors forming outside. They were young and didn’t care, but as time passed, even if they weren’t affected by what the world thinks, they would gradually feel that there was something missing.

Lu Qipei had long made plans for the future. Even when Qi Bo sent Lu Sheng here, she was very clear about his intentions. But although she thought Qi Yang would think of adopting Lu Sheng, she didn’t expect that it would happen so quickly.

Today was the first time she really interacted with Lu Sheng!

After a brief silence, Lu Qipei said, “There’s no rush. It’s not easy to raise a child.” After saying that, she rolled over slightly and laid on her side, taking Qi Yang into her arms. “And Lu Sheng is not suitable.”

Qi Yang looked up from her arms, smelling the familiar plum blossom fragrance on her body, and asked, “Why is Lu Sheng unsuitable?”

Qi Yang actually thought a lot that evening. If she wanted to adopt Lu Sheng, then the most important thing for her was the child’s father. In both lives, Lu Qicheng died by their hands. Setting aside the previous life, in this life, Lu Qipei and Lu Sheng shared the grudge of her father’s murder.

It was impossible for Qi Yang to be so big hearted that she didn’t care about raising the daughter of her enemy, but she also wasn’t ruthless enough to get rid of the innocent child.

After thinking about it, there was no difference between keeping her by her side or her keeping her somewhere else. Plus, you would always feel more comfortable with children that you raise yourself. Today, she could see that Lu Sheng’s nature wasn’t bad.

But that was not what Lu Qipei meant. She stroked Qi Yang’s back and slowly said, “Look at how similar Lu Sheng’s face is with mine. There are rumors everywhere nowadays. If you really adopted her, who knows what the outside world would say?”

Qi Yang was stunned. She didn’t expect that this was the thing Lu Qipei was most worried about.

Lu Qipei buried her head against her neck again, rubbing it against her. There was a slight grievance in her voice, “You and I can ignore the rumors. They’re not true anyway. But if news spread to the palace, His Majesty and the Crown Prince would know…”

Her father-in-law and brother-in-law had always been staring at her these years. Usually, the relationship between husband and wife was fine, but if something really happened, they would definitely beat her up.

Lu Qipei really felt that she could not provoke them. She really wondered how she fell into this situation after being reborn?

Qi Yang couldn’t help laughing after hearing what she said. After laughing, she felt that it really was troublesome. Gossip really could kill people sometimes.

Even looking at the mansion, everyone there could see the couple’s lovey-dovey life everyday. But the moment they saw Lu Sheng, including Zhi Ting, they still became suspicious of Lu Qipei and felt a rejection towards Lu Sheng.

It really would be troublesome if news reached the Emperor and the Crown Prince. Plus, she was still young, so it was too early to talk about adopting an heir.

After a while of thinking about it, Qi Yang stopped pondering and asked, “Then, what do you want to do with Lu Sheng?”

Lu Qipei remained silent for a while, and suddenly sighed, “Let’s raise her like this first. She is my niece, so it doesn’t matter if she is raised in the mansion with this status. If you like her, you can spend more time with her.”

In reality, this was just a matter of status. In the end, they would not have their own children. As long as they made up their minds to raise someone, it didn’t matter whether they had her family name changed.

It was just Qi Yang who thought too much – to put it more ruthlessly, it was better not to change her name. If Lu Sheng grew up evil in the future, it would be much easier for them to give her up.

Qi Yang thought the same, so she gave up on the matter. Then, she thought of something and said, “I’m going to the palace tomorrow.”

The topic changed so fast that Lu Qipei couldn’t react for a while. “Why, what happened in the palace?”

Qi Yang leaned back into her arms, shook her head and said in a muffled voice, “Nothing serious. I just heard that Royal Brother was handling political matters until night two days ago and accidentally caught a cold. I haven’t visited him yet.” After a pause, she added: “On the way, I will explain a couple things on your behalf.”

It had been more than a month since Lu Sheng came to the mansion, and news had reached back to the palace. The Emperor and the Crown prince had been giving her a cold look recently. Lu Qipei didn’t say this to Qi Yang, but hearing what she said today, how could she not have thought of it?

What’s more, she really should go to the palace.

Lu Qipei didn’t think much after hearing that, especially about the Crown Prince’s illness. In fact, he had gotten ill a lot more in the past three years. The man who looked so powerful back then had actually been exhausted after his triumphant return, and every winter ever since had been hard on him.

It was normal to catch a cold once in a while, and sometimes he would stay bedridden when he was seriously ill. It was rare that the Emperor never gave up on such a Crown Prince.

“Then go to the palace and have a look. Ah Ning must remember to say a lot of good words on my behalf.” Lu Qipei said with a soft smile. After that, she remembered something and added, “I sent people to look for famous doctors everywhere last year. Now I have found two. How about recommending them to His Royal Highness The Crown Prince when they come to the capital in a few days? Maybe it will be useful?”

Qi Yang agreed. She felt a little worried, but being on Lu Qipei’s arms made her feel relieved.

They exchanged a couple more words, then fell asleep before they realized.

Author notes:

Qi Yang (sourly): Prince Consort look at me, look at me! Don’t look at others, don’t feed others!

Lu Qipei looked at the child, then at Qi Yang, and finally delivered the spoon to her wife’s mouth…
