Chapter 81.2 – Something Like That

Lu Qipei was helpless as Qi Yang gave her several looks, but her smile still reflected how much she was spoiling Qi Yang. Then, she heard Her Royal Highness The Princess speak with the tone of a child-kidnapper, “Ah Sheng, don’t worry. You have to eat rice, but you can also eat tanghulu. Eating tanghulu will not give you a stomachache. If you don’t believe me, let your uncle eat them first.”

While she said that, the stick of tanghulu was delivered to Lu Qipei’s lips, followed by two pair of eyes, one big and one small.

Lu Qipei had no choice but to bite one and chew it silently as an example.

Lu Sheng wavered a bit, but she still hesitated. Finally, Qi Yang herself bit off a tanghulu and ate it.

The two adults gave her a “demonstration”, and ate the tanghulu in one bite. When other people saw it, they only thought that these two were being so intimate in public, looking at each other once in a while and being sickly sweet.

But the little dumpling didn’t understand this. She finally couldn’t hold back anymore, looked at the tanghulu Qi Yang gave her, then tried stretching out her tongue to lick it. The sweet taste instantly captured the child’s heart.

Lu Qipei didn’t know what was the point of Qi Yang tried so hard to coax a child to eat tanghulu. Right now, she just reminded her, “Ah Sheng, just eat the sugar outside. Don’t eat the fruit inside.”

Lu Sheng licked the tanghulu, her black eyes sparkling brightly, and she obediently agreed.

Sugar was expensive, but if the tanghulu was too expensive, then children wouldn’t be able to afford them. So, the sugar coating outside was very thing. Soon, Lu Sheng finished licking the tanghulu, revealing the red fruit inside.

The child was very curious. Although Lu Qipei had warned her not to eat it, Lu Sheng still couldn’t help secretly taking a small bite.

She thought it would be as sweet as the coating outside, but the strong sourness immediately greeted her after the bite. Lu Sheng had never eaten such a sour food at her age, and her small face immediately wrinkled into a bun.

Of course, Qi Yang and Lu Qipei saw her little movements, but neither of them stopped her and just watched. Right now, Lu Sheng’s face was wrinkled by the hawthorn’s sourness, but she didn’t dare to spit it out. Finally, they couldn’t help laughing.

Lu Sheng was still young, but seeing their reaction, she also knew that she was being laughed at. She buried her head and hid in Lu Qipei’s arms.

Lu Qipei patted her on the back and coaxed her, but did not see her coming out. She and Qi Yang looked at each other with a smile. The two continued shopping with the child in their arms. They walked around and bought a lot of things, half of which were things for children.

There were things like toy whistles, rattan ball and so on. Being coaxed with toys, the child was also no longer shy.

The three happily walked along the street happily. Lu Sheng and Lu Qipei looked very much alike, so the passersby all thought that they were a family of three.

But they didn’t know that behind the window of a teahouse by the side, two people were watching at the three with deep eyes.

Nanping withdrew her gaze and snorted, “I know how proud Qi Yang is. Now, for a man, she would even acknowledge his illegitimate child.”

Sitting opposite her, King Chu took a sip a tea, but the corner of his lips was smiling. “Well said. With Qi Yang’s temperament, do you think she would just acknowledge her prince consort’s illegitimate child, and be a harmonious “family of three”?

Nanping looked at him suspiciously when she heard that and said, “What do you mean?”

King Chu put down his tea cup and said casually, “Qi Yang cannot tolerate sand in her eyes, and she wouldn’t compromise even more. So it’s either that this child is not her prince consort’s illegitimate son, or that even she had been tricked. It’s not like she gave birth to this child, right?”

Nanping finally rolled her eyes and said, “What nonsense are you talking about? If the child is really Qi Yang’s, she would have been pregnant when she got married, and it would have caused a noise long ago!”

After saying that, she realized what King Chu had said before, and looked at him excitedly. “Royal Brother, did you find out something? Tell me quickly.”

King Chu was not in a hurry, as a smile appeared on his lips. “I did some investigation. Lu Qipei did have a blood brother. They were said to be twins and looked very similar, but his brother died four years ago. Counting the days, the time just barely fits with the child’s existence. But before he died, he had been bedridden for a long time. Where would he have the strength to leave behind this child?”

Nanping’s eyes lit up. “So Qi Yang really is being deceived?!”

King Chu raised his eyebrows and smiled triumphantly. “Something like that.”

Nanping became even more excited. She immediately stood up and wanted to go. “I really want to see! With a green hat on her head, what face would she have to act proud and play lovey-dovey in front of me!?”

Hearing this, King Chu quickly stopped her. “Wait, stop! Don’t ruin my business!”

Nanping frowned and looked back a little unhappily, but King Chu pulled her over and whispered something.

Author notes:

Qi Yang (smashing angrily): You’re the one with a green hat! My prince consort is well-behaved… she can’t make children in the first place!

Lu Qipei (hugging and comforting her): It’s okay. Don’t be angry, Ah Ning. Let’s just quietly watch them make a fool of themselves.
