Chapter 87.2 – Can See Me Anytime

After changing into dry clothes and drinking a bowl of her hated ginger soup, Lu Qipei sat opposite Qi Yang and finally found the opportunity to ask about earlier. “Ah Ning, did you have a nightmare earlier? What happened to make you so frightened?”

When Qi Yang heard this, her long eyelashes trembled slightly, then she pretended to be indifferent. “It’s nothing, it’s just a dream. I forgot when I woke up.”

However, Lu Qipei had a panoramic view of her expression. She thought for a while and asked, “Did you dream about me?” After asking that, the follow-up question seemed obvious. “Did you dream something bad about me? You don’t seem to have settled down yet.”

Qi Yang didn’t say anything, a tacit admittance. Lu Qipei had too many secrets – if any of them were exposed, it would be disastrous for both of them.

At the start, she only thought of being together, but now that she had time to think about it, she felt a lot of worry. Of course, she would never regret being with Lu Qipei, but as time went on, more worries weighed on her heart.

In fact, Qi Yang couldn’t have a good rest lately. Without Lu Qipei by her side, her heart was always worried. It’s exactly because of this that when she opened her eyes and saw Lu Qipei, she couldn’t hold back her emotions and held her tightly.

People say that what you think at day would be what you dream of at night. Lu Qipei didn’t have to ask what Qi Yang was worried about and what she might be dreaming about. The look on her eyes softened, and she took Qi Yang’s hand, saying, “Don’t worry, don’t be afraid. Leave everything to me.”

Qi Yang tightened her grip and gave a gentle “un”.

The heavy topic was left behind. Lu Qipei turned to a relaxed tone and asked, “How is Ah Ning doing in Huguo temple these days? Are you not used to the hardships in the temple?” After asking that, she explained herself without waiting for Qi Yang to open her mouth. “I have been out of the capital these days, and I couldn’t come to see you. Don’t be angry with me.”

Qi Yang glanced at her and replied, “It’s a bit boring. But with Lu Sheng accompanying me, being in this temple is still okay.”

When Lu Sheng was mentioned, Lu Qipei was somewhat concerned, so she carefully asked, “I think Ah Ning seems to like children very much? Lu Sheng hasn’t been in the princess’s mansion for long, but I see that you’re very close to her.”

She thought that her tone was normal, but she didn’t realize that her words were full of jealousy.

Qi Yang obviously noticed this, the corner of her lips slightly raised, but she still maintained a serious face. “Not really, I just liked children who are well-behaved. Unlike those of my royal brothers, all spoiled into becoming little tyrants. I don’t like them very much. It’s not like Ah Sheng, who’s very clever and doesn’t make people worry…”

She praised her quietly and saw Lu Qipei’s face turning darker and darker like she wanted. The smile on the corner of Qi Yang’s lips turned wider.

Finally, the conversation turned another way. “And Lu Sheng looks so much like you. If you don’t come to see me, I can only look at the little girl and chat with her to alleviate my lovesickness.”

As she finished saying that, Qi Yang leaned forward and kissed Lu Qipei gently. She was going pull away after kissing her, but Lu Qipei unexpectedly raised her hand and put it around her waist.  Then, with a little force, she pulled her directly into her arms.

Her shallow kiss also deepened, as if to punish Qi Yang for her previous teasing, and to expel the lovesickness accumulated in these days.

At the end of the kiss, the two rubbed their forehead against each other with a slightly ambiguous atmosphere, their clothes slightly disordered.

Lu Qipei hugged Qi Yang, rubbed her neck, and then said softly, “Have prayed long enough? The heavy rain is blocking the road lately, so I’m not in a hurry to return to the capital to report. I will stay here with you, so if Ah Ning misses me, you can see me anytime.”

Qi Yang was pleasantly surprised to hear that, and her eyes brightened a little. Then, she realized something again and her thin fingers pinched Lu Qipei’s earlobe, saying, “Is Ah Pei being jealous of Lu Sheng?”

Lu Qipei snorted twice and whispered, “Can’t I?”

Qi Yang heard it, but pretended that she didn’t hear it clearly. She went up to Lu Qipei and asked her, “What did you say just now?”

Lu Qipei was thin skinned after all – how could she admit that she was really getting jealous with a small child? She immediately looked away and didn’t say anything else. But a while later, before Qi Yang could respond, she secretly moved her eyes back and met Qi Yang’s eyes that looked to be smiling but at the same time not.

Being caught peeking, Lu Qipei’s ears turned slightly red.

Qi Yang’s smile grew wider, but she didn’t tease her any further. She replied to her previous question, “It’s only one or two days more, then there’s a ceremony we need to do afterwards. If they heavy rain is not stopping, we’ll just return to the capital together.”

Lu Qipei was happy to hear that, and her hands tightened slightly around Qi Yang as the turned to listen at the rain falling outside. That noise had been an annoyance in the morning, but now it sounded a little pleasant, and she didn’t want it to stop soon.

Author notes:

Lu Qipei (jealously): Ah Ning, look at me! Don’t look at the dumpling, she’s not as good-looking as me!!

Lu Sheng (……): Taking the blame everyday… I’m shouldering too much for my age… I’m the scapegoat!
