Chapter 93.1 – Moving With The Family

Rest day soon arrived, and Zhi Ting had instructed some people to pack up their belongings and go to the hamlet early.

As a princess, Qi Yang was favored by the Emperor, so the dowry she got back then was quite a lot. Let alone a hamlet on the outskirts of the capital, the Emperor even prepared for her a courtyard outside Tangquan Palace, where every inch of land was exceptionally expensive.

In the past three years, the two of them had been busy for the sake of their future, so they hadn’t gone to the hamlet or the courtyard in Tangquan much. But it wasn’t sure what they were thinking, now that the kingdom was in troubled times, the two somehow had the time and mood to rest and go outside, as if they didn’t have any worries.

The princess’s mansion became lively in the morning. Although Qi Yang and Lu Qipei did not plan to stay in the hamlet for a long time, they still had to return to the capital at night before the city gate were closed. For someone with their identity, there was always a lot to prepare for a trip.

Fortunately, Qi Yang and Lu Qipei didn’t have to worry about these things themselves. They had breakfast in the courtyard and went hand in hand to find Lu Sheng.

After living in the princess’s mansion for several months, the little girl had gradually become familiar with everyone in the mansion. In particular, she was very close to Her Royal Highness The Princess, and Qi Yang was also very friendly to her, so the people in the princess’s mansion who had been hostile to her gradually dropped their prejudice.

In short, nowadays, Lu Sheng was like fish in water in the princess’s mansion. And when a child was spoiled by others, no matter how dull and reserved temperament her temperament was, she would subconsciously lower her guard and reveals her true self. She would cry and make a fuss, act spoiled and be unreasonable. Exactly how a child her age should be.

Of course, Lu Sheng didn’t turn bad just because she was spoiled. She just had some minor problems, such as waking up late.

The trip on rest day was something that had been agreed upon before. Lu just heard last night that she would be able to go out and play again, and was just as happy and excited as an ordinary child would.

But as the night passed, she became too excited to sleep, and couldn’t get up this morning.

When Qi Yang and Lu Qipei arrived, the maid who took care of Lu Sheng was waking her up. The little dumpling wrapped her head in a thin blanket and curled into a ball. She didn’t move at all despite anything the maid beside her said.

This would have been impossible when Lu Sheng first arrived at the princess’s mansion. Although the three-year-old child hadn’t even learnt how to read or write yet, she had never had any trouble waking up early.

Maybe due to her biological mother’s influence, she had developed a good habit of waking up early. At the beginning, there was no assigned maid to take care of her, and she could wash up and dress up by herself.

But that was all back then, and today’s Lu Sheng was clearly violating her usual living habits. The little girl who didn’t get enough sleep was lying on the bed, hiding herself in a thin blanket, as if she hadn’t heard anything outside.

The Lu Sheng that Qi Yang knew was very well-behaved. It was rare to see her look like this, and for a moment, she couldn’t but feel amused.

She glanced back at Lu Qipei, who understood the signal. After dismissing the maid, she personally stepped forward and began peeling off the small bundle on the bed, saying, “Ah Sheng, wake up. We agreed to go play at the hamlet today.”

The blanket was lifted, and the small steamed bun’s eyes opened a little, revealing the black and white of her eyes. But it was only for a moment, and then those big black eyes were closed again, as if they were glued shut.

She groaned twice, and when Lu Qipei reached out to embrace her, she subconsciously drilled into her arms with evasive gestures.

Lu Qipei laughed and hugged the little bun, asking Qi Yang, ‘She’s so sleepy, it would also be troublesome to bring her out. Why don’t we let her stay at home and sleep today?'”

However, Qi Yang shook her head and said, “We promised her last night, how can we go back on it?”

All right, since Her Royal Highness The Princess had said so, Lu Qipei would certainly not refuse. The two called the maids again and asked them to help the sleeping child wash up and get dressed. In fact, there weren’t much trouble, and soon they were ready.

After waiting for a while, Zhi Ting also ordered for the horses and carriages to be prepared. Lu Qipei followed Qi Yang with Lu Sheng in her arms, and boarded the carriage for the trip.

By the time Lu Sheng was fully awake, the princess mansion’s carriage had already left the city. She was the only one in the big carriage, lying unsteadily on a small couch. There were beddings on the outside, which had obviously been carefully arranged.

The wagon was shaking pretty often; after Lu Sheng woke up, she couldn’t sleep again. She opened her black eyes wide and looked around in slight panic, feeling that the scene was both familiar and unfamiliar. Before she could think where this place was in her memory, the fear of being alone filled her heart first.

Lu Sheng was insecure child, because she had heard words of hatred and abandonment from her mother more than once since she was young. She didn’t understand it well back then, and she still didn’t understand much even now, but she gradually became afraid of being abandoned.

She had been living a good life in the princess’s mansion lately and became familiar with the environment. So now that something like this happened suddenly, she naturally panicked.

Her small arms flailing and her short legs moving, Lu Sheng struggled to climb up from the comfortable little couch, struggled to cross the beddings obstructing her, and even fell as the carriage rocked.

But the little girl didn’t cry or make any noise. She got up and rushed to the back of the carriage door. But there was a coachman sitting outside, and she couldn’t push the door open with her little strength, so she turned and ran to the window to take a look around.

When she lifted up the carriage’s curtain, she could see the blue sky, the snow-white clouds, the lush flowers and trees under the sun, and the endless fields in the distance…
