Chapter 62 Conclusion

A spell struck Nathan and made his head hit the ground. He almost lost consciousness from the impact.

Luna, flying near him, landed on the ground and walked slowly toward him. "Master Nathan…. Are you okay? What can I do to help? Don't you intend to use the Sword of Disidia?" she asked nervously.

Nathan didn't respond. His mind was blank because he saw nothing but darkness. He was unable to think straight.

"Nathan! Please listen to me! Whatever you think, do otherwise! Leon! The key is on him!" Marco said, forcing Nathan to wake him up.

Nathan groaned softly as if waking from a nightmare. He heard Edna shouting in distress, along with some other voices that sounded as though they had been crying in pain or sadness. But none of it made any sense in his mind at all; everything seemed hazy and blurry at first glance until he suddenly noticed the air around his head moving due to the sound waves that kept coming out from everywhere. It made the surroundings vibrate like an earthquake.

"Nathan?" asked Marco worriedly. "Please, survive."

Luna looked at both of them from afar. She kept repeating the same words over and over again: "Master Nathan, please survive."

"I'm going to kill everyone in this place tonight. I don't care anymore." Nathan said without even thinking about it. He couldn't take much more of this hellish world where nothing worked properly except for death itself. His body hurt every single time he tried doing something simple, such as breathing normally. He started trembling uncontrollably after a few moments.

Marco raised his voice. "That's not right!" He shook his head in disapproval. "What will happen then?"

Nathan opened his eyes, which were still filled with blackness. "Just give me one good reason why I should be nice." Nathan whispered slowly, with his lips moving very slowly. It sounded like he was having trouble talking properly.

Luna stood still, listening closely to their conversation; she wanted to help, but she couldn't understand what was being said by the two of them.

Marco closed his eyes tightly and took a deep breath before replying to Nathan calmly. "It is wrong because we have no idea what we are dealing with yet! There is no way we can win if we attack them randomly. Leon! He is behind all this and maybe our only hope tonight. He put you in this situation on purpose." Marco's voice sounded very urgent now, as if there was no time left.

"Leon... What does he want from me?" Nathan closed his eyes for a moment before opening them once more.

Marco answered him carefully, "I think maybe he wants your power or something in your possession, or perhaps even both."

Nathan gasped softly at those words.

"I don't know the details, but I'm sure he wants something from you."

Nathan nodded slowly before answering, "So, that means my enemy is Leon?" Nathan asked himself. It made sense, though, when one thought deeply enough, he could see things clearly after everything had been sorted out properly. His mind worked better now. He felt relieved to finally know why things were happening. There wasn't any need to look further than as far as he knew now.

"I don't know how I survived Nicholas' attack 10 years ago. Since that incident, I have lost the ability to walk. I was kicked out of my house, with only Edna accompanying me. She never left me one bit, even though she had the choice to do it.

A few weeks ago, Leon came and kicked me out of my mom's house. He even destroyed it. And now, he is also involved in what happened tonight? What does he want from me? Does this have something to do with the Toxic Queen, my stepmom? Is this related to the Sword of Disidia?" He said to Luna.

"This must be the reason they attacked us tonight and started this battle," Luna replied. "Leon is the person behind all of this!" she cried. "He will never give up on this!"

"Marco," Nathan called out to him. "Thanks. I think I know the answer."

He tried to lift his face, looking at Edna, who was suffering from Roger's treatment.

"Edna!!!!" he shouted loudly.

Everyone around stopped moving when hearing that.

Roger looked back.

"Edna can still be saved if she returns to Yunatea. The New World law does not apply there." Marco said.

She would have to exert all the strength at her disposal or even do something out of line, which she probably had never done before.

"Edna!!!" He shouted, "Don't hold yourself anymore. I'll see you in Yunatea."

Edna shook her head slightly while standing still like a statue, showing no signs of pain; she simply couldn't move anything but her eyes. She just stared blankly into space. Blood poured out of her mouth again and splattered onto the ground.

Edna lifted her face towards Nathan, tears streaming down her face. She nodded slowly. "Yes... Please take care of yourself, young master." Edna could barely speak clearly because of the blood filling her throat. "I won't let anyone else hurt me ever again!"

Nathan stood frozen by Edna's words as he took out his sword from his inventory.

A burst of energy immediately exploded around her, sending Roger and anyone near her thrown back.

A pair of wings sprouted from her back, a pair of silver dragon wings. A pair of horns was also sticking out of her head.

She fell back on one knee with an expressionless face, yet it seemed almost as if she were smiling underneath the veil that covered her face with blood dripping from her lips. Her body shimmered brightly under the moonlight as if reflecting light itself. It was more beautiful than any other woman in existence, causing everyone to stare at her in silence for a moment. Even Roger froze, staring at Edna without moving an inch after witnessing her new form.

Everyone looked at each other silently. The soldiers began to regain their senses while trying to catch up. They drew their swords once again.

"Who are you?" Roger asked fearfully after regaining his senses.

His voice sounded very hoarse now. He stared wide-eyed at Edna before looking up. "No... You're..." he muttered softly in a trembling voice.

Edna jumped lightly, then darted quickly to grab Roger, who had fallen to the ground. Her hands grabbed tightly onto the man as she raised him high above the momentum of her leap, then she slammed him into the ground again with great strength before turning herself upside down, flying like an inverted pendulum.

Roger screamed in agony. He pulled himself away from Edna, trying to get free, but he could do nothing.

Nathan kept his eyes on Edna as she continued throwing Roger around mercilessly, showing no mercy whatsoever towards the person who did those unspeakable things to her. After catching sight of her actions several times, Nathan noticed something different about her now compared to when he first saw her: she didn't show any signs of discomfort at all during any of those moves. She would simply land right where she started and instantly stand back up in place, looking almost like a ghost doing some kind of dance while moving fast and effortlessly, with perfect balance and control.

Edna grabbed Roger. Her wings flapped and quickly took them both high up in the sky above everyone's head, soaring through the darkness with grace and elegance that could only belong to angels themselves.

A massive roar filled the entire battlefield, along with an explosion of golden flames from Edna as soon as she was out of everyone's vision; everything went quiet after that, as even the sounds stopped. There were no more shouts coming from either side.

Edna floated in the sky, illuminated by the moonlight.

She returned to the ground, followed by another large blast and several small explosions around her, even though she landed slowly and silently. A very faint light glowed under her skin, forming a shimmering aura around her body.

Her hair was blowing gently in the wind like a halo around her. It seemed like it couldn't be real—as if the moon itself had just taken human form. Her eyes flashed bright with blue fire within her gaze. Her teeth sparkled like precious stones when seen clearly now that she wasn't covered by the blood.

"Kill her!"

"Don't let her escape!"

"We must kill her now!"

"That's right! Kill her!"

Everyone shouted at the same time.

She dropped Roger's body, which had been dry-burned by the blast, into the center of the arena where no one stood.

Marco sighed deeply as he muttered aloud, "She killed him." He couldn't help but feel pity for him. He had never seen anyone look like that in his life before.

The soldiers surrounding them just stood still for a while after seeing this scene unfold, not knowing what they should do anymore. They weren't sure if this girl was really human or a demon. It looked too real. Then it occurred to them they might be the ones that were actually being fooled by someone here.

After witnessing and observing how terrifying that sight was, some of their companions ran away without waiting any longer.

Nathan kept watching Edna. Her new form left everyone speechless at first sight. "Is this over? Is it all over?" He said in relief before he completely lost consciousness.

The person watching them from afar was someone they had expected: Leon!

"Bo- ring… send some escort to rescue her to Yunatea." He stood up, yawning, "Two of my three plans worked. So, not bad I guess?"
