Chapter 64 A Dark Truth

"So, it started from the reason Bastien locked Linda up in his mansion," Marco said while looking straight at Nathan. "At first I was confused as to what his logical reason was, until I knew his true intention of collecting things and creatures that make little sense to most people."

Nathan listened quietly as he rested his arms across his knees and his elbows against them while resting his chin on his hands. He kept staring into space without blinking.

Marco shifted position while keeping his gaze fixed upon Nathan. "He has someone with clairvoyant abilities. Through his suggestions, Bastien hopes to find a way to a dimension where his son was trapped in."

Nathan leaned forward slowly with interest after hearing these words. "Yunatea?"

Marco shook his head. "No, not Yunatea. A different dimension." He paused for a moment before continuing: "He knows that his son is still alive somewhere in that world because his blood was mixed with some magic at his disposal that could monitor his status." Marco stopped speaking suddenly when Nathan opened his mouth and raised one hand to interrupt him.

"So, is that why he's looking for a spirit beast with a certain elemental component? And what about Linda?" His eyes widened, and he stared intently. "Does that mean Linda also has the possibility of mastering a power like a dimensional traveler?" he asked again in a low voice.

'Dimensional traveler?' He remembers one of his classes.

"You might be right about that. I think it depends on her magical affinity. Also, I've heard she might have more than one element. You see, I never believed in the existence of this kind of thing until I got involved in this case last night." Marco shrugged his shoulders casually.

"What do you mean?"

"God's apostles, I blatantly guessed this topic to Leon. And he confirmed when I mentioned there might be more than one God's apostle among us." He let out a sigh and continued talking slowly and carefully: "Sorry, but I suspect there are other gods besides the God of the Sins in Yunatea, Nathan."

Nathan didn't show any sign of surprise. He looked straight ahead and continued to listen patiently.

"There could be another god or gods who is/are managing the world we know now, the New World, our world. But I would not be able to answer your question properly, I can only say so much," Marco said with uncertainty in his voice as he stared down at his hands on his knees.

Nathan leaned back, crossing his arms in front of his chest. "Why?" he asked.

"Because I can't prove it. But I believe it." Marco was quiet for a moment. "I don't know how to explain it, but I just have a gut feeling that this might be true. If you can, I would love to hear about it."

Nathan didn't say anything but nodded in silence. "Now then, you think there will be God's apostles as representatives of this world too?"

"Well, that's all I can talk about so far." Marco said and smiled. "Of course, I won't ask for confirmation of the source of your ability, either. Although, I do hope that someday you'll open up to me."

Nathan shrugged his shoulders and sat silently after hearing these words.

Marco went silent for some time before he spoke again: "The next part is very important... There's good news and bad news, which do you want to hear first?"

"Let's start with the bad one." Nathan's face remained impassive as he replied calmly.

"CEHA, they have a new acting grand master this year. Someone who is known to have a very unique ideology and views the future of Hunters differently from most people." He paused briefly before continuing: "And because of this reason, the test to enter CEHA may differ completely from previous years."

"Is that really that bad? I mean, if they changed their standards, I would not be surprised at all!" Nathan said while trying to suppress his excitement by biting his lower lip.

"That's only half correct! The problem lies in the acting grand master himself." Marco kept looking straight into Nathan's eyes. "Okay, I think it would be better if you find out for yourself later."

Nathan furrowed his brows. "Then the good news?"

Marco looked down for a moment as he hesitated with an expression like he was afraid of something. When he raised his head, he looked directly back at Nathan with a determined look in his eyes. "There is a possibility that all learning activities will be transferred to Yunatea. That means,"

He stopped speaking for a few seconds and continued: "That means you don't need to wait that long until you can do some exploration on Yunatea. Or even to meet again with Edna."

Nathan leaned forward and took a deep breath before letting it go and sitting still again. "Alright, I think there will be lots of interesting things in the future."

Marco stood up slowly, making sure he could keep eye contact with him. "Well... The last thing is, Linda will also register for CEHA. She is level 65, so she meets the requirements. I hope you will get along well with her. You can stay alert if you don't fully trust her yet. That's fine."

Nathan turned around, facing Marco with wide eyes while he mumbled something under his breath. He shook his head slowly. "Don't worry, I understand now."

"Excuse me..." A voice called out from outside. "Marco, Nathan-san... can we come in?"

"Ah! Come in!" Marco yelled as he went over to the door.

The girl who came through the door had a cheerful look on her face. She glanced at Nathan as if wanting to say something. She hurried and sat on the chair near the bed. "Hi, my prince. How are you?" She said and smiled.

Linda was holding Polly, a fox with white fur with green patches. The little fox jumped into Nathan's lap. "Master Nathan, I miss you." She said and lay on his lap.

"Hi, Polly…. I see you're in a good condition."

Nathan stared at Linda, who looked completely different from last night when he met her. She wore a casual sleeveless white shirt with blue pants that were suitable for any kind of outdoor activity. Her blond hair fell loosely behind her back. But most importantly, her expression seemed much brighter than yesterday, giving off an aura of friendliness.

"Thanks Linda, I'm getting better."

"Hi, Nathan-san. I bought some chocolate for you," Muramoto said and placed the box he had brought in front of Nathan.

"Thanks everyone." He responded.

Muramoto bowed slightly in response to his words.

Linda nodded without looking away from Nathan. "So, we are going to be classmates soon? My prince? That means... Maybe I can join your group after all this?" her voice sounded excited but hopeful.

Nathan tried to remain calm. "Well, sure, I'm looking forward to it. You know, having someone willing to stand up to people who might bully me later in school would greatly benefit me." He said and glanced at Marco.

Linda showed a shocked expression, and then she turned to Marco. She stood up and approached him. "What have you told him?" She asked him with narrowed eyes.

Marco stepped closer to her as well. "I only tell him what is necessary. Do you understand that?"

Nathan let them solve their problems. He turned to Muramoto. "So, Muramoto-San, what is your plan? What do you think about joining us at CEHA?"

Muramoto shook his head slowly before answering, "I hmmm...."

"I will hire you to be my assistant, to take care of the dungeons and parties we will work on in the future. As a down payment, I will cover all fees to enter CEHA, including lodging and food." Nathan said quickly while trying to convince Muramoto with a smile on his face.

Muramoto stared into space for a moment. Then he answered softly: "Hmm... Sounds good... Thanks, Nathan-san…" he smiled slightly.

Linda started laughing. Her cheeks were turning red with joy. "Yes! This is great!"

Linda tapped Muramoto on the shoulder really hard. "Haha, I'm so happy. There's someone I can bully later."

"Linda-chan... Come on, don't you know that your hand is as strong as... oops... sorry...." Muramoto stood and ran, going outside as fast as he could, escaping from Linda.

They were about to take Marco to the teleportation gate to Yunatea. But Nathan wanted to do another thing first.

Nathan held Polly in his arms, with Luna hovering close to him. "I heard it by accident from Marco. Mea, Zander's daughter, is being treated here." She spoke with a quiet voice.

"I want to see her," he added after looking back at Luna.

They walked towards the room where Mea was being treated. Two nurses were standing beside the door.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" The nurse said and moved aside.

"For some reason, I know the father of the girl being treated inside. It's kind of strange because I have never seen her before. But I want to see her to say some greetings." He said while holding up the little white fox, and then he placed her on his left shoulder like a child carrier.

The nurse stepped forward. "Please wait here. We will let you meet her for a few minutes." She opened the door and allowed Nathan into the room after a while.

A ten-year-old girl was sitting on the bed. She turned her head to Nathan.

She has short white hair and a skinny body. Her eyes had blue irises. She glanced again at Nathan without any expression on her face.

He nodded slightly in response to her glance. "Hi, my name is Nathan. Nice meeting you."

Her gaze remained fixed on his face before nodding lightly once more.

"Hello..." she answered softly as if talking to herself. "Who are you?" she continued in the same soft voice as before.

Nathan swallowed nervously before replying. "I heard stories about you from people around here. I just want to be your friend."

"Hmmm... okay.... My name is Mea." She gave a weak smile.

Nathan only chatted for a while, introduced himself, then said goodbye.

"Bye Mea, I'll see you later."

"Bye, Nathan Oppa... Thanks for visiting me." She waved weakly. And she was finally showing a smile on her face.

There was no one to provide for the girl anymore. Nathan secretly provided funds for her needs.

"Aren't you afraid if she finds out that it was you..." Luna said but didn't finish her words.

Nathan shook his head. "I just do what I have to do. Life is short, I don't want to live with regret. Let me face whatever risks I will encounter in the future."
