Everything in the Tome of Life and Death could traverse space and time. The treasure could travel back to the past and affect the empty nothing to manifest the Three Thousand.

Lu Yun’s cultivation increased explosively with the change and he crossed into peak grand supreme.

“But empyrean supreme? Sacred supreme?” He frowned slightly. If he wanted to, he could ascend to those levels on the spot.

He didn’t do so, however. Becoming an empyrean or sacred supreme held no meaning for him anymore. The Tome of Life and Death transforming into a book of paper meant that it’d reached the height of perfection.

If he entered the nothing now, he would become the “one” of nothing. The order of ethos that came from inception.

It didn’t mean anything to Lu Yun. He didn’t need to become that grand existence. He had his wives, son, and disciples.

He didn’t want to become such a grand existence—that would remove him from the same plane as living beings. If he took the leap, his mentality would change from a person with thoughts and feelings to something close to dao, one that transcended a human being.

He had no desire to turn into something like that. In his eyes, there was no difference between his current peak grand supreme and the other higher cultivation levels.

“The nothing?” Lu Yun looked down at his hands and murmured, “It’s not nihil, but another cultivation level that can’t be readily explained or defined.”

He suddenly recalled Jin Huo’s assessment of Pangu. Pangu wasn’t an empyrean or sacred supreme, but he possessed an incomparably strong realm close to nihil. Yet, he wasn’t a being from the nihil.

His current status placed him on a similar footing to Pangu’s cultivation level.

The Tome of Life and Death had reached peak perfection, enabling him to see into the past, present, and future. Anything that wasn’t purposefully hidden from general sight was easily available to his purview.

He saw the Dao King carefully pick his way through the ancient world of immortals and condense unbounded tomb qi into a separation layout to protect the world of immortals. But at the same time, the tomb’s strength continuously leaked into the world of immortals and turned it into a large tomb.

He also saw the Dao King step into the air, directing the ground to swallow the immortals that’d fallen in battle. They were placed into tombs to help diffuse the tomb qi filtering into the world through Ancestor’s tomb.

The Dao King also made sure to preserve the primordial immortal dao civilization.

He was the one behind the curses on the dragons, immortal dao, and divines. They were strong enough to thoroughly shatter the burgeoning immortal dao, but Yun Yi’s guidance ensured that they left a chance of survival in each of the curses. Whoever could break the curse was the one they were looking for.

He saw numerous Lu Yuns throw himself against the curses again and again throughout the cycles of reincarnation. Even Ancestor, as the overlord of Ice, tried to undo them. It wasn’t until the final cycle that Lu Yun managed to do so through the Tome of Life and Death and fully realize everyone’s goals.

When he wielded the Imperial Seal, he was only one of many seeds of potential. The Land of Reincarnation had ended only because he jumped out of reincarnation and set foot on his own path.

Lu Yun heaved a long exhale after he saw all this.

“Greetings to the master!” A trembling dark empyrean supreme knelt at the young man’s feet. The current Lu Yun could absolutely slap him to death with one blow, despite looking to be only a regular peak grand supreme.

It wasn’t a matter of strength, but level. The level of “one” that the Tome of Life and Death became after it finished evolving.

Lu Yun was that “one”.

“You… you did it!” An incredulous Disordered Empyrean Supreme appeared by Lu Yun’s side. She’d spontaneously received the complete hell dao after the Tome of Life and Death fully evolved. She was the new mistress of hell, which was why she’d suddenly arrived at the World Heart. Even she herself hadn’t thought that the young man would so easily give her the combined dao of three hells.

She was a sacred supreme now. Having been in the Three Thousand just moments before, she received power from the Three Thousand when the strength of hell poured into her body. Her own great dao was fully unfettered after ascending to sacred supreme and jumped in a vibrant, prosperous state.

However, her surroundings repelled the sacred supreme from the outside. If it wasn’t for Lu Yun pulling her back through hell dao, the light of great dao would’ve swiftly obliterated her.

“I did it,” Lu Yun nodded smilingly.

“And you’re just giving me hell dao? Along with Ruina and the Firmament Prison?” Having pursued the true hell dao for so long, she didn’t know what to do after suddenly obtaining it.

“Hell dao descends from reincarnation in the first place, it is subordinate to reincarnation.” Lu Yun grinned broadly.

The Disordered Empyrean Supreme nodded silently, seemingly having become Lu Yun’s subordinate. But he didn’t restrict her in any way, shape, or form. Such was the agreement that they’d reached before.

“This is the World Heart, the wills of everyone who died in this patch of existence are here. Go do anything you want to do, I’ll help you.” He smiled at her. The empyrean supreme was so fixated on hell dao for one reason—she wanted to resurrect the shamanic ancestor.

Everything she possessed was a result of his sacrifice. As his daughter, resurrecting him was her lifelong goal.

It was also why Yun Yi had chosen to bring the Disordered Empyrean Supreme back to life and had her accompany Lu Yun to the Three Thousand. It was a very important characteristic that the empyrean supreme was no heartless ingrate.

Some could sacrifice their own flesh and blood in pursuit of great dao and their own ideals. Meanwhile, the only motivation that the Disordered Empyrean Supreme held in pursuing great dao was her father.

“No need, I can do it myself.” She smiled radiantly back at him and left.

“Jin Huo’s died three thousand and six hundred eighty-seven times…” Lu Yun noted that she was currently scaling a mountain.

A mountain of blades.

A figure in blue sat cross-legged upon it, looking for all intents and purposes like he was dead.

The tree god.

Once she scaled the mountain of blades, she would be able to bring back the tree god from the past. She had to do it alone, no one could help her.

“Am I done here after Jin Huo brings back the tree god?” Lu Yun furrowed his brows. He looked into the past and present again, but found no hints of anything else. Formula dao wasn’t forthcoming either.

He gazed at Quietus stabbed into the World Heart, splitting the region into two worlds. The side he was on was the world of light. Peace, tranquility, and dappled sunshine reigned. The other saw thunder and lightning streak through it while raging fires painted a veritable picture of purgatory.

The demons in the World Heart were suppressed while the ones on the other side ran free. They were only kept out of this side because of Quietus.





In the world that seemed like purgatory, Lu Yun saw sacred supremes, nihil powerhouses, and the vicious beasts of the Three Thousand. Although they were free, they’d been tormented out of their intelligence and become killing machines.

“Why is this the case?” Lu Yun’s frown deepened.

“It’s the overseer!” answered the dark empyrean supreme. “That side of the world is his demonic breeding grounds. He wants to be the only liege of the Three Thousand and endless nothing, so he cages gods and demons like livestock to turn them into killing machines. They are his soldiers!

“Don’t go over there, master. Many nihil powerhouses have died there and become his puppets.”
