Chapter 529

"What do you mean?" Cedric asked, on the outside Cedric was calm and collected, but on the inside he was already panicking.

Was Benedict playing with them this whole time? Was this some sort of plot twist?

He couldn't help but wonder if Benedict brought him out here as a distraction, if they had fallen into his perfect trap.

Benedict seemed to be the brains of Aiden's whole operation, so was it possible that Benedict had been toying with them all along.

"I know what you are thinking."  Benedict suddenly said. "I devised that plan to hopefully get close to your father or you. I needed to know if my sister was still alive, and I assumed that if anyone would know it would be you or your father."

"My father knew, but I only found out after your brother attacked us." Cedric said with a frown. "So how did he do it?"

"You've  seen Aiden and his effect on women, right?" Benedict asked, to which Cedric simply nodded.

"Aiden has always been the better looking one between the two of us. Tall, brooding, handsome with his dark hair and dark eyes. That whole mysterious intimidating man seems to have quite the effect on women." Benedict said with a frown.

"So you used his looks to get into our compound?" Cedric asked, giving Benedict a confused look. How could someone's looks get them through the tightest security in the country.

"I asked him to make one of the maids fall in love with him." Benedict said with a shrug. "It wasn't difficult either. Once the woman was smitten with him she gave him one of those family passes."

"But my security team had images of him all over, surely someone would have recognized him?" Cedric asked, curious as to how Aiden had managed to slip in.

"He took a page out of your book most likely." Benedict explained. "He probably wore a facemask and said he was sick. Or he could have dyed his hair and worn contacts."

"Thank you for telling me this." Cedric said as he poured them another glass. "I guess I'll need to be stricter with those family passes."

"Or you could house your staff off the premises. That way only the employees could come in and out of the compound freely." Benedict suggested.

"I'll consider it." Cedric said. He thought Benedict was quite smart and would be such a big loss to Aiden.

"Well, it's late." Cedric said as he got up and walked to the door. "I'll see you tomorrow. Breakfast is at the main house."

"Cedric, wait." Benedict said, stopping Cedric from leaving.

Cedric turned and gave him a puzzled look. He was quite exhausted from the day and simply wanted to get to his bed and sleep.

"Thank you." Benedict said with a weary smile. "Thank you for watching out for my sister all these years."

Cedric simply nodded and left.

The next few days were quite hectic for Cedric and everyone else. The girls were busy planning Emilio's birthday party while Cedric and the others helped Camilla and Benedict settle down.

"Are you sure you want to sell that house?" Camilla asked Benedict as they sat in Cedric's office.

"Yes." Benedict said with a nod. "It has too many painful memories. I want a fresh start, I'm a new person, sister." He told Camilla.

"I can help you sell the house and purchase a new one." Cedric told Benedict.

"I was hoping to settle down at the Mountain View Community, are there any lots available?" Benedict asked.

"There are a few." Cedric said with a nod.

"As you know, money isn't an issue." Benedict said with a grin. "I've made a good living with stocks and some other illegal means. I want to buy two houses."

"Two houses? Are you crazy Benedict?" Camilla asked, outraged by her brother's decision.

"I can afford it, plus Cedric has offered me a position in the international strategic department of the Reyes Group. I can afford two houses." Benedict told his sister with a shrug.

"Why the hell are you preparing a house for that asshole?" Camilla angrily asked her brother. By the looks of it she was ready to storm off and never speak to him again.

Suddenly both Benedict and Cedric bust out laughing, angering Camilla even more.

"You can't be alright with this Cedric? What the hell?" Camilla asked as she glared at her boss. "Aiden killed your mother, Mia, Jam, and countless others."

"Camilla, your brother isn't buying the house for Aiden." Cedric said laughing.

"Oh, what?" Camilla asked in surprise.

"She's usually not this daft." Cedric said, pointing at Camilla. "I have a cell in one of Ray's controlled prisons with his name on it. He will wish for death every day."

"Camilla, the other house is for you." Benedict said with a smile.

"Brother, no." Camilla said in a panic as she realized what her brother was buying for her. "I can afford a decent home on my own. Cedric pays me a lot."

"Yes, but let me do this for you." Benedict said as he walked over to his sister. "I should have come to you as soon as I could, I shouldn't have stayed by Aiden's side."

"Benedict, it's not your fault. He is your brother." Cedric said, understanding why Benedict had chosen to stay with his ruthless older brother.

"No matter how you put it Cedric, Aiden was wrong." Benedict said with a frown. "I will not deny that there were days where his words swayed me into thinking that Camilla was truly gone."

"Brother.. ." Camilla said as she hugged him. "What matters is that you are here now." Camilla said with a sweet smile.

"Camilla, I promise to do everything that I can to make it up to you." Benedict promised.

"Benedict, just being a better person than Aiden is more than enough." Camilla said with a smile as she hugged her brother tightly.

"I'm glad you have both made up, maybe now Camilla can go to work and I can introduce Benedict to his new team." Cedric said impatiently.

"So greedy." Camilla teased as she left the room. "I'm off to work brother. I'll pick you up later." Camilla told Benedict as she left.

"What? Money doesn't grow in trees." Cedric said with a shrug as he noticed Benedict giving him a nasty look.
