"A job?" Jonathan asked, confused as to what Ray had just said. "And what? Wait, how is it possible that you are the King of the Underworld and a prominent public figure as well? How have people not found out?"

"Yes, a job." Ray said as he laughed at the confused man standing in front of him. "One question at a time, kid."

"Sorry, but what?" Jonathan asked again, unsure about how to treat the situation.

His confusion made Cedric laugh, he found it quite amusing that as Jonathan tried to process the job he was being offered he was also trying to understand how Ray was King of the Underworld.

Ray took a deep breath and shook his head. He decided to explain things in full first so that Jonathan wouldn't be so confused and distracted.

"You seem to be someone we can trust, Jonathan, and to someone like me that is very important." Ray said with a smile. "The Laurence family has long been involved in the underworld, my ancestors started out as one of the big mafia families."

Jonathan nodded as he paid close attention to the story Ray was telling.

"Over the years the different groups began to fight among themselves, and eventually wars broke out. These wars not only endangered the lives of those in the underworld but of innocent people as well." Ray explained.

"It was a very dark time in the country's history, but all we know is the legal side." Cedric added as he tried to give better context to the story.

Jonathan nodded at the two men's words.

"At that time the Laurence family was moving from a Mafia family to a more proper one, that was when one of my ancestors decided to change things. I'd rather not tell you the details but one thing led to another and he became the first King of the Underworld." Ray said.

"Since the Laurence family was starting to rise as a family deeply involved in more legal businesses, my ancestors decided that the best thing to do would be to keep their identities a secret." Ray explained. "That's why only the heads of the gangs and mafias know who the King of the Underworld actually is."

"How do you get them to follow?" Jonathan asked. "If they don't know who you are, why do they follow?"

"Just because those in the underworld don't know who we are doesn't mean they don't feel our presence." Ray said with a grin. "We protect them from the government through our connections as long as they keep all the fights away from the public."

"Did you know that our country has been more peaceful since?" Cedric asked as he laughed at the irony.

"That's odd." Jonathan noted.

"With the underworld in control the rest of the country can go on with their lives as they please." Ray explained. "And before you ask, yes we have our own men. Most of them have worked for the Laurence family for generations."

"So how did you become king of the underworld?" Jonathan asked Ray.

"I worked for it." He said with a casual shrug. "When I was fifteen I joined the Dean Family Mafia with my cousin, Alexi. We experienced what it was like to be a low level member of the Mafia. Interestingly the current head of the Dean family was also there pretending to be an ordinary person." Ray said with a laugh as he shook his head.

"What kind of work will you need me to do?" Jonathan asked.

"Honestly, I want you to be on both sides of my business, but I don't think you will be comfortable with that." Ray said with a frown.

"Cedric and Adrianna trust you." Jonathan said as he glanced at Cedric. "I'm willing to give it a shot because of them."

"I haven't even told you what you will do." Ray said, surprised by the man's response.

"I trust that they wouldn't do something that could harm me." Jonathan replied with a nod.

"If you were wondering it's investments, he wants you to run his investments." Cedric said as he knew that Jonathan had to have the right to know.

"I'm not -" Before Jonathan could complete his sentence, Ray's phone began to ring, cutting their conversation short.

"It's my pilot." Ray said as he pointed at his phone.

Cedric simply nodded as Ray answered the call and placed it on speaker.

"Mr. Laurence. I hope I didn't call at a bad time." The pilot said in a respectful tone.

"No, it's fine." Ray said, his voice intimidating and cold.

"We have landed at Kashmere, sir." The pilot said. "No one suspected a thing when I picked Miss Tiu up in Spain with Mr. Ming's plane."

"Good." Ray said.

"Sir, there was a slight complication." The pilot said nervously.

"Well, out with it." Ray ordered.

"Sir, Miss Tiu seems to be sick." The pilot informed them.

Cedric watched as Jonathan suddenly turned pale as he tried not to speak.

"Have you taken her to the hospital?" Ray asked.

"Yes sir, as soon as we landed." The pilot replied.

"I will have Dr. Chan fly over to check on her." Ray said as he dropped the call.

"M. . .my sister." Jonathan said in a shaky voice.

"Let me give Miguel a call." Cedric said as he took out his phone and quickly stepped out of the room.

It seemed that Miguel was not that busy as the doctor quickly picked up the call.

"Cedric, what's up?" Miguel asked as he answered.

"How fast can you get to the airport?" Cedric asked as he noticed Jonathan and Ray step out of the room.

"I asked Jonathan to pack his things and be ready to go. We don't know how what Julia's situation is." Ray said as he nodded at Jonathan who wordlessly thanked him and made his way to his room.

"Do you think this is safe?" Cedric asked.

"Is what safe?" Miguel asked over the phone as he overheard the conversation.

"You need to get to the airport, there was a complication with Julia's arrival. She's at Kashmere." Cedric informed his friend.

"V, can you pack me a bag?" Miguel called out to his wife, it seemed like they were currently at home.

"Ray just asked Jonathan to pack a bag to go to Kashmere." Cedric informed Miguel.

"That's not too smart." Miguel said as he voiced his concern over the phone.

"Miguel dosn't think it's the best idea either." Cedric told Ray.

"It's his sister, I'm sure we can get him to the island secretly. Trust me on this." Ray argued.

"What do you think?" Cedric asked Miguel. "I want to let him as long as we can hide who he is."

"We can pretend that he is one of my nurses or assistants." Miguel said as he thought of a good disguise.

"See, problem solved." Ray said with a chuckle.

"Meet us at the airport as soon as you can." Cedric said in a serious tone as he dropped the call.

"Are you sure that you should go?" Ray asked his brother-in-law.

"And why not?" Cedric asked.

"Who will we say is in the hospital that you need to be there?" Ray asked.

"Do we need to give a statement?" Cedric questioned his friend. "It's a personal matter."

"They will find out that it is Guan Ming's plane that landed, people are not stupid, they will know it is someone close to him, someone important." Ray explained. "If you go there it could risk your plans."

"If I don't go it will seem out of character." Cedric argued. "As a businessman I should take advantage of the situation."

"But as Cedric Reyes, would you?" Ray asked. "Plus someone has to stay behind."

Cedric remained silent for a while as he considered what needed to be done.

"You need to set the plan in motion, you cannot let things delay it. The longer you wait the worse the implications." Ray told Cedric.

Cedric sighed and nodded, his friend was correct, he needed to stay behind. It was for the best for all of them.

"I'll stay behind, but you better update me." He warned.

"When have I not?" Ray asked with a grin as he turned and left to pack up his things.

Cedric sighed as he decided to work and get his plan going while Lucius Ting was sure to be distracted with Guan Ming's mother.
