Chapter 185

185 Chapter 184: Threatening the ancient dragons

“I suggest we gather our strength and stop him from acquiring the inheritance. We can’t afford to let them get their hands on It and grow stronger!” Pope Light argued but Gerald waved his hand to stop the old man from speaking.

Stop them?

Impossible.

“Once again we will be dragged into a battle which may cost us so much. All I can say for now is quite simple. We ignore everything going on and focus on building our defenses. I refuse the invaders controlled by the old gods and ancestral Dragons will let someone as Sol live long. We should let both sides clash first and finish off the winner” Gerald said with a thoughtful look.

Pope Light was going to argue but looking at the crown prince again, he dared not speak up.

“Do you feel sympathy for the enemy?”

Suddenly a voice rang across the room and everyone turned their eyes to Gerald. His eyes shifted to the figure beside him and it turned out the son of heaven was the one speaking.

“I was informed of the encounter at the endless desert and how you let the death mage go. So I have to ask. Do you feel sorry for the enemy?” The son of heaven asked with a raised eyebrow turning the entire courtroom cold but Gerald seemed unmoved by this.

“Pity? Not really. I just have the wisdom to differentiate between friends and foes and I realized the Death mage is not our foe instead, You and your people made an enemy out of him. It’s unfortunate I wasn’t here when that happened. Things wouldn’t have escalated this far if I were there” Gerald spoke freely to the son of heaven without fear. The heavy atmosphere in the room made it seem as if two kings were speaking.

.....

“What do you mean by that statement?” The son of heaven didn’t seem annoyed, instead, he asked another question, making it seem as if he was more curious than pissed.

“It means if I was here no one would dare lay his hands on a young man fighting hard for the sake of this kingdom.” Gerald snorted as he stood up casually and walked over to the son of heaven, standing in front of his throne.

“When I come across a fool, I do not hate them instantly. Instead, what I hate is a fool who is unwilling to learn. How many more times would you let yourself play the role of a pawn in this battle between the new and old gods?” Gerald asked with a frown and everyone turned pale in fear aside Dillain.

How dare the crown prince speak to the son of heaven this way?

Your Highness!

Your majesty!

Everyone expected the son of heaven to explode with rage but strangely he remained silent and pondered on Gerald’s words deeply.

“From now on, I will have everyone listen to me and Dillian. We will be in charge of the kingdoms safety so I’m going to have to ask you to sit back and watch me protect this kingdom my own way, father” Gerald said and quickly turned to leave causing his sleeves to flap violently.

Dillian just chuckled and followed Gerald from behind like a loyal servant meanwhile the sage of heaven remain silent and watched the duo leave, making people wonder who the real king is.

...........

Just like the Kingdom of Gyro, every other kingdom in the continent was shaken by the news of Damon’s death and the awakening of Sol, especially people at the blood mountain.

Blink sat up with bandages wrapped around his chest and other parts of his body. His eyes seemed heavy as tears ran down his eyes while the other members of the blood family stood around him.

Sol was the one who granted them this gift and made them immortal so they have an eternal gratitude for him but then again, even though Damon’s rule lasted for a short while he left a print in their hearts and these people truly wished to serve him.

Hearing of his death left everyone shaken and disturbed.

“I suggest you leave as soon as you can. Damon Ross may have loved you deeply but I can’t tell the same for Sol. Your position as the future leader of the blood mountain will be taken away from you. Even your life cannot be assured with this person in power now. Things will change” Cassius asked Blink with a sad look on his face.

He deeply respected Blink and Damon and liked both of them because they both made conscious efforts to create a better world for the people of the blood mountain. He didn’t want to see anything happen to Blink because of Damon’s death.

“No! My master said he would return! He said he would never leave me. So I will wait for his return and look him in the eye. Damon Ross is the strongest. That imposter will not be able to last for long” Blink snorted disdainfully while fierce killing intentions could be seen in his eyes.

All his life, Damon dedicated his time and energy to protecting him, but never got anything in return. Blink was determined to return Damon’s kindness before letting him die.

“You don’t have time for this.... It’s not time for you to be emotional. If Damon was here what would he want you to do?” Micheal Blood asked and Blink sneered with sheer anger in his eyes.

“If Damon was truly dead like they claimed then these undead soldiers hiding in my shadow would be gone. But they are still there. I can still feel his presence within his undead army but it’s just too faint. We can awaken him. I can awaken him!” Blink said with fierce determination in his eyes.

Buzzz!

His words sent shivers down everyone’s spine as they realized something. The undead soldiers placed here by Damon were yet to leave their post or stop their duty. The true death mage may not have noticed this minor thing but this was a reminder that Damon Ross was still alive and fighting within the body.

These people didn’t know whether to be happy to sad. They weren’t sure to who to give their loyalty.

“My master is the strongest there is. Not even the real death mage can compare!” Blink said with a fierce look in his eyes.

......

A week or so have passed as Sol lead the other three to the spot of the inheritance. It was a black whirlpool at the center of the endless seas. He and the others stood above the whirlpool, gazing at it with strange eyes.

“No one has come to stop us, especially since the news of your revival must have spread. Don’t you find that strange?” Gin shot a glance and Sol’s back as he asked the question.

During their journey, he soon realized something. Just like them, Sol is a calculative person but his pride and sense of superiority suppressed all his other instincts greatly.

He believed the other hosts also thought this way and that’s why they could never get along. The few times when the real hosts lost, it was purely because the new gods resented each other and could barely agree on a few things. That’s why Sol would rather have them as subordinates than revive his real comrades.

“It doesn’t matter what they do. If someone dares stand in my way I will kill him off, regardless of their Identity” Sol responded coldly but his frosty eyes were pinned on the surging black whirlpool below.

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????

It seemed as if he was searching for something.

“Damon was killed because of this attitude. There is no such thing as the absolute so we have to be careful” Gin said.

“Hmph! The death mage was right when he claimed to be the absolute. What is dead may never die. We death mages can never be killed fully once we acquire the inheritance unless our souls are destroyed as well. Damon understood this and that was the bases of his confidence. It’s just unfortunate the one he had to defend against was me” Sol responded nonchalantly, not bothering to look them in the face.

Brrrrrr!

The sky twisted and turned violently as a pair of eyes appeared above the clouds gazing down at them with fierce eyes. Soon three more eyes formed, each carrier a familiar aura which the hosts could remember.

The four ancestral Dragons!

“Your attempt to best the hosts has failed. Your actions were expected and we made countermeasures” Sol said coldly as he gazed at those eyes fearlessly.

“With the inheritance, I and the other hosts will reach a higher realm. I hope your invaders will be enough to hold me down because if they can’t, I will be coming to take your lives very soon” Sol said with a cruel smile on his face. The ancestral Dragons could only gaze at him fiercely but couldn’t reply.

Sol stood as the center of attention and even then he exuded an air of confidence when speaking to demigod level beings.
