Chapter 230 - You Deserved It!

When Madam Su woke up, she heard some noise coming from outside. Recalling the scene when she fainted earlier, her heart suddenly sank. “Ninghua!”

She had felt that something was wrong with her body these past two days, but no problem was found after seeing a doctor. It wasn’t until she fainted in the imperial garden that she suddenly realized that she might have become the bait for others to plot against Shen Ninghua. She was so anxious that she wanted to get up, but she felt dizzy.

“Auntie, don’t get up. You’re still very weak.” Shen Ninghua was seated on a chair not far from the bed. Seeing that Madam Su wanted to get up, she hurriedly stepped forward to stop her.

Hearing Shen Ninghua’s voice, Madam Su’s mind relaxed when she saw her standing there safe and sound. “Ninghua, I fainted. Nothing happened, right?”

Hearing Madam Su’s probing tone, Shen Ninghua immediately knew that she had guessed the reason for her fainting. She frowned and said, “You fainted because of poisoning. How could there be nothing?”

“Poisoning?”

“Yes.” As soon as Shen Ninghua finished speaking, loud noises suddenly came from outside.

Madam Su’s heart skipped a beat as she subconsciously looked at Shen Ninghua. “Ninghua…”

Shen Ninghua nodded to comfort her. “Auntie, don’t worry. I’ll go out and take a look.”

Zhao Huiying followed behind Baili Qingcang, accompanied by a group of palace maids and guards.

Baili Qingcang walked in the front with a gloomy expression, and his entire body was filled with rage.

Zhao Huiying had an awkward expression and said softly, “Don’t be angry, Your Majesty. The words of a palace maid may not be taken seriously. Moreover, Anqing has always been the most obedient. Chu Junyi and Ninghua are deeply in love. So they wouldn’t do anything that goes against the ethics.”

“Hmph, whether they went against the ethics, I’ll see for myself!” Baili Qingcang’s expression was still gloomy as he strode into Veluriyam Palace and headed straight for the main hall where Baili Anqing was resting.

Behind them was a palace maid with a panicked expression. As she staggered forward, she kept shouting, “Your Majesties, I’m wronged. It was Lord Chu and Princess Anqing who had an affair. They met in the main hall behind the back of Princess Zhaohua. It was none of my business.”

Baili Qingcang frowned and turned to look at the palace maid angrily. He said to the guard who was escorting her, “Block her mouth. I don’t want to hear another word from her.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

When Baili Qingcang reached the entrance of the main hall, he stopped.

Zhao Huiying blinked and concealed the light in her eyes. She stepped forward and said softly, “Your Majesty, after all, this matter concerns the two princesses. There are still so many ladies and young girls in the Palace who have come to the flower viewing banquet today. If news of this were to spread out, how could the dignity of the royal family be maintained? How about letting someone in to take a look first?”

Baili Qingcang pursed his lips and the veins on his forehead slightly stood out. The light in his eyes became even colder. After a while, he finally nodded and said, “Alright, send someone in to take a look first.”

Zhao Huiying smiled vaguely. She turned to look at Fangxue and nodded slightly at her.

Fangxue understood and nodded slightly in response. She pushed open the door and walked in. As soon as she entered, she saw Baili Anqing’s clothes scattered on the ground. Half of the curtain on the bedside was dragged down, revealing only a small piece of a jade-colored arm. A look of joy flashed across her eyes as she thought to herself. “Done!”

Then she put on a panicked expression and exclaimed, “Ah, Princess Anqing, how…how can you…”

Outside the door, Baili Qingcang gritted his teeth and directly kicked the door open.

Instantly, he frowned at the smell in the room. Seeing the clothes scattered on the ground, his chest heaved for a long time before he finally suppressed his rage.

Zhao Huiying’s voice was slightly panicked. “Your Majesty, calm down. The kids didn’t know any better. I think there should be a reason. Let’s…”

Before she could finish her sentence, she suddenly stopped. Didn’t Rui Xue follow her instructions and lead Shen Ninghua into the main hall?

Baili Qingcang frowned and turned his head. His expression suddenly changed. “Ninghua?”

Shen Ninghua asked curiously, “Greetings, Father Emperor and Mother Empress. I was accompanying my aunt when I suddenly heard a noise outside, so I come out to take a look. Father Emperor, didn’t you go to rest? Why are you here?”

As she spoke, she looked at the bedside and exclaimed in a low voice, “This…Sister Anqing, why…Aunt Fangxue, Sister Anqing’s arm is still exposed. Why didn’t you cover it up?”

As she spoke, she directly stepped forward and closed the other half of the curtain. The curtain came down, completely blocking the scene on the bed.

Fangxue knelt on the ground and said in a low voice, “Your Highness, don’t be too sad. His Majesty and Her Majesty will definitely do justice to you.”

Shen Ninghua turned her head doubtfully. “Sad? Justice? Aunt Fangxue, what do you mean by that?”

“This…” Fangxue looked at Zhao Huiying awkwardly. “Your Majesty…”

Zhao Huiying sighed and looked at Shen Ninghua with pity. “Ninghua, there are many things that are out of our control. The same goes for love. Moreover, there is nothing unchangeable in this world. Many things change, and so do people.”

Shen Ninghua’s expression became even more puzzled. “Mother Empress, what did you mean by those words? I am totally at a loss. Father Emperor, what happened that brought you and Mother Empress here? Did something happen to Anqing?”

As she spoke, she suddenly turned around and looked at the bed covered by the curtain. She quickly walked over and lifted a corner of the curtain. Then, she was stunned and the curtain in her hand fell.

Zhao Huiying narrowed her eyes slightly and said softly, “Ninghua, my poor girl. Fangxue, quickly help her sit down by the side to calm down.”

Shen Ninghua looked as if she had been stricken by lightning. She stood there motionless in a daze. Only when Fangxue stepped forward to support her arm did she suddenly restore her senses. “Father Emperor, Mother Empress, Anqing…”

Baili Anning walked in quickly. “Greetings, Father Emperor and Mother Empress. Ninghua, what’s wrong with you? Why is your face so pale?”

Shen Ninghua bit her lips and said, “I’m fine. It’s Anqing.” As she spoke, her body shook slightly and she was supported by Fangxue.

Baili Anning stepped forward worriedly to take Fangxue’s place. “Ninghua, what’s wrong with you?”

“The smell in this room is quite strange. I’m a little dizzy.”

“Aunt Fangxue, please go outside and tell Lord Chu. Let him come in and take a look at Ninghua.”

As soon as Baili Anning finished speaking, the expressions of the people in the hall all changed.

Baili Qingcang asked directly, “Anning, what did you just say? Chu Junyi is outside?”

Being stared at by a few pairs of eyes, Baili Anning was a little nervous, now knowing if she had said anything wrong. “Yeah. Hasn’t he been waiting outside the palace all the time?”

“All the time?” Baili Qingcang’s eyes narrowed abruptly as he swept his gaze past the palace maid escorted by the guards, as well as the Empress and Fangxue. The light in his eyes was unclear. “Summon Chu Junyi in.”

The guards immediately ran out to announce his order.

Not long after, Chu Junyi arrived. “Greetings, Father Emperor, Mother Empress and Your Highness.”

Chu Junyi behaved righteously, and his voice was soft and straightforward. He had a gentle expression on his handsome face that looked like a clear breeze and a bright moon. No matter what, no one would connect him to any filthy thing such as cheating on his wife.

“As you were.” Baili Qingcang paused for a moment before saying, “You have been waiting outside the palace all the time?”

“Veluriyam Palace is Princess Anqing’s residence, and it is not proper for me to be here. Therefore, I have been waiting outside the palace.”

“Then why didn’t I see you when I entered?”

“I heard that Madam Su was not feeling well, so I took the prescription and went to the Academy of Imperial Physicians to consult with Doctor Chen.”

Chen Yun was Baili Qingcang’s exclusive doctor. He wouldn’t check others’ pulses without Baili Qingcang’s order. If Chu Junyi wanted to consult him, he must personally pay him a visit.

Baili Qingcang nodded and cast a saber-like gaze at Fangxue, who was now stunned. “You cried out because you saw something. What did you see?”

Fangxue bit her lips so that she wouldn’t lose her composure. “Your Majesty, I saw Princess Anqing lying on the bed.”

“Isn’t it normal for her to lie in bed? What’s there to make a fuss about?”

“It’s because…because…ah, it’s because she seems to have fainted.” They had been talking in the hall for such a long time, but Baili Anqing hadn’t moved at all. Apparently, something had happened to her. Fangxue finally found an excuse.

Zhao Huiying breathed a sigh of relief. Her gaze swept across Chu Junyi and Shen Ninghua, and she was furious. Obviously, her plan failed again! Moreover, not only did it fail, but she also fell into their trap instead!

“Anning, go and see what happened to Baili Anqing.”

Baili Anning nodded. “Yes, Father Emperor.”

Baili Anning looked at Shen Ninghua and found that there was no abnormality in her expression. Only then did she feel relieved. She thought that there shouldn’t be any big deal.

But the moment she lifted the curtain, she smelled alcohol. Baili Anqing’s face was bright red as she lay on the bed. “Anqing…Anqing…Ah…”

Baili Anning suddenly cried out in alarm.

Baili Qingcang shouted, “What’s wrong?”

Baili Anning took a few steps back before balancing herself. “Father Emperor, Anqing seems to be drunk. She is sleeping, and…and…there is a memorial tablet on her bed!”

“Memorial tablet?” Baili Qingcang turned to look at the two nurses beside him. “You two go take a look, wake Baili Anqing up, and bring that tablet over!”

The two nurses quickly stepped forward and one of them pulled Baili Anqing’s clothes together. “Princess Anqing, Your Highness!”

The other nurse lifted the quilt and saw the tablet on the bed. Her expression changed abruptly. She picked it up and carefully presented it to Baili Qingcang.

“In memory of my deceased husband Yang Lin…Good, good, very good!” Baili Qingcang’s face was ashen. Seeing Baili Anqing who was still unconscious after being helped up by the nurses, he strode forward and slapped her in the face.

“Despicable monster!”

Baili Anqing suddenly opened her eyes and was stunned when she saw the scene in the hall. Then, she was stunned by the slap on her face. “Father Emperor…”

“Shut up, I am not your Father Emperor, and you are not my daughter! Aren’t you thinking about that Yang Lin? Alright, I will let you marry that dead man as you wish!”

“Father Emperor!”
