Volume 1 - CH 4

I was sitting on the back of the wagon with my head in my hands.

“I’m going to turn these bandits over to the Andersen police. You see that big ginkgo tree standing at the top of that hill over there? I’ll meet you there in two hours.”

With these words, the female warrior left.

This happened about an hour ago.

This may sound like a romantic date meeting phrase, but the reality is quite different.

In fact, it was the opposite: it was a dueling rendezvous.

“I’m screwed.”

I mutter to myself.

In case you are wondering, it’s almost impossible to turn away from a duel.

It is international common knowledge that when two humans duel, they must submit a “dueling application” to the government office of the state that governs the territory where the duel is to take place.

The application for a duel must be stamped or signed by both parties, and the terms and conditions must be clearly written on the form, but this has just been done, and the female warrior is now ready to submit the form to the authorities.

As to why I signed such an application, I have to admit that I don’t know.

All I can say is that my head’s calm judgment of “No, it’s no good, it’s a loss, it’s not worth it, it’s scary” was overtaken by something hot and lustful that surged from my lower abdomen whenever I looked at the female warrior’s voluptuous body.

But, well, it’s too late for regrets.

I couldn’t keep my head in the clouds forever, so I cast a lock spell on the wagon and drove it into the woods.

I still had about an hour to spare, so I hoped to find a spot where I could get water.

After four or five minutes, I heard the faint sound of running water, and the woods opened up to reveal a gently flowing creek.

I sat down on a rock at the edge of the creek, took out my folding fishing rod, and cast just the line.

It doesn’t have a hook on it, so I can’t catch any fish, but it’s the best way to calm down and plan before a battle.

That female warrior is certainly strong.

However, I’ve journeyed around the world as a traveling merchant since I was a child.

It is not the first time I have been forced to fight monsters in harsh dungeons or duel with humans. If y ou are ab le to r e ad th is mess a ge, yo u are re adin g fr om an una uthor ized agg re gate si te. Plus, she also has her weaknesses.

As seen in her fight with the skinhead bandit, she is weak against magic.

She is so confident that she can win that she is willing to put her chastity on the line, but at the very least, I won’t lose ten times in ten attempts.

However, there was something else I had been worrying about.

That is, “Am I capable of acting violently on a girl?”

No, I don’t mean to sound sexist.

I understand the logic that it’s a duel, so there’s no need to be too rough or soft.

However, my father, who is my teacher, taught me very strictly that boys should not hit girls, so I am concerned that I may not be able to touch them physiologically.

In any case, it’s now time. I took the Blue Dragon Sword out of the carriage and decided to use it as a weapon.

It was a choice made for the passive reason that the female warrior would be hesitant to land a full blow on the weapon that she was supposed to receive later, kind of like a hostage. But even though this was something I made on the spot, I think it’s a pretty good tactic.

When I headed for the promised hill, the female warrior was already standing under the ginkgo tree.

The sun’s rays shone on its golden leaves, decorating the woman’s beautiful figure with dignity.

“I’m sorry. Did I keep you waiting?”

“No, not at all. I just came.”

Hmmm? She seems to be in a good mood.

I looked behind the female warrior and noticed that there was another person beside her.

I hadn’t noticed her because she was leaning against the shade of a tree.

The woman was dressed in a traditional priestess’s uniform of the Messianic faith, and her silvery hair complimented it well.

She was a beautiful woman with a well-developed face, but her eyes were slightly upturned, giving her a sharp impression, though the majority of it was coming from the simple, unfriendly expression on her face.

“Hey, who is she?”

“She’s the notary witness.”

In Messianic countries, it is customary for the clergy to perform the complicated act of witnessing “in the name of the one and only God” from time to time.

If, for example, I lose the duel today and renege on my promise to hand over the Blue Dragon Sword, the Messianic priests will come by the hundreds and beat me up in the “name of the one and only God.”

Moreover, the priests stationed in Andersen’s State Church are also an elite group.

I see. So it’s that. The female warrior brought this priestess with her, considering the possibility that I would renege on my promise.

And she is in such a good mood because she is convinced that the Blue Dragon Sword will be hers now.

I was totally underestimated.

“Then let me confirm the application for the duel.”

The priestess opened her mouth for the first time. Her voice sounded stern.

“Alright. Please do so.”

I responded, and the priestess read the contents of the duel application form.

“And that’s all. Is this correct?”

“Yes~.”

Towards the female warrior who answered with a smile, the priestess’s eyes were piercing, and it looked like he was glaring at me from behind her silver bangs. Th is cha pt er trans lat ion is m ade pos si ble by stab bi ng wi th a s yri nge tra nslat ions. I again turned toward the female warrior and asked her.

“Hey, isn’t that priestess angry?”

“Really? But even if she is, it’s not like she can do anything. After all, it won’t do good for the Messianic faith if she complained here.”

“I see. I hope she doesn’t get mad at me later.”

“Now then, get ready.”

I readied my Blue Dragon Sword and faced the female warrior. I have to concentrate and try to keep up with her speed.

However, that concentration was cut into pieces in the scene that followed.

“Wait a minute! Hold on!”

The female warrior shouted.

“What is it?”

To which the priestess frowned.

“I want to use that Blue Dragon Sword.”

“What?”

“I want to use it to cut hi- no, a trial. Yes, I want to test out that sword and see how it works.”

You, did you just say you want to cut me down?

With my own sword, even?

I mean, killing someone in a duel is not a crime.

But she’s clearly using this as an opportunity.

You want to negotiate? Fine, I will also negotiate.

After all, this is a merchant’s field of expertise.

“I will lend you the sword. But on one condition.”

“Condition?”

“Yes. If you agree, I will lend you the Blue Dragon Sword in this duel. But in exchange, I will not attack you.”

“What do you mean?”

“Let’s see…. Yes. Thirty minutes is enough. If I keep dodging your attacks for thirty minutes, I win.”

“Are you saying that a woman can’t hit you?”

“No, I didn’t mean that. It’s just that I’m not confident in my ability to hit a woman, especially of your caliber.”

The female warrior thought for a moment. But eventually, she agreed.
