Chapter 33 Useless System

"What on earth is going on here?" Lucas' face turned pale as he watched the red-haired fellow walk away.

"You've got to be kidding me..." He took a deep breath.

Izek's name on the wall struck him as suspicious again. He'd been tired before, but now he felt wide awake again.

"What was he doing here anyway, and why did they leave me in the same cell he was in?" Lucas spoke aloud to himself.

He tried to touch an iron bar and his hand immediately flew to his chest as electricity shook his skin.

Lucas' heart almost stopped and he was rooted to the spot.

"What the hell?" He asked. 'Iron bars are electrified so I can't escape, that's so stupid.' He sighed.

Knowing there was nothing he could do at the moment, he decided to return to the bed and look at the name again.

He reached his bed and pulled the old, leather shoes off his feet. Lucas sat down and lifted his feet up, straightening his whole body and stretching his back a little.

He turned back to the wall on which the name was carved and looked at it more closely.

It looked as if it had been made with a small needle, 'impossible that the hand of a human could do that.' He put his hand on the name, thinking it would help him get a better clue as to what Izek was doing here in the first place, but there was nothing left to see.

'If Izek was here too, what else do I've to do with it?'

He turned around and looked at the black ceiling.

Small white dots from old age reminded him of the stars, he felt as if he were watching the stars in the sky at night.

"System, activate." Suddenly the words came out of his mouth without him realising it.

He was too tired to realise what he'd just said.

[System activated]

[What do you want?]

Lucas' eyes widened and he leaned forward: "Why is the system here?" he gasped.

[I don't have time for you, what do you want?]

The system sounded again with an attitude.

"I didn't call for you, why are you here?" Lucas shook his head.

[Are you stupid, why else would I be here?]

"Because you want to?" He raised an eyebrow.

[I don't have time for you, bye]

"Wait, don't go!" Shouted Lucas, hoping it would listen to him.

[Then what do you want? And why are you locked in here?]

"I don't know, this whole thing seems suspicious, can you get me out of here?"

[No chance, I'm busy]

The system's response was short and sweet.

"What kind of system are you?" A rage rose in Lucas' blood that made him clench a fist.

[A unique one, don't forget to get the gem for future announcements either]

"What kind of gem? What announcements?" Lucas got up from his bed again.

[Your goal is to find a gem and form a team for missions]

"What team? What kind of missions? Can you explain everything slowly?"

[Can't be asked]

'That bitch...' Lucas gritted his teeth in anger.

He was angry at the system's attitude and the way it treated him.

"Can you at least tell me about my mission?" He hoped to get an answer to that.

[Sigh.]

He heard the system let out a long breath, and for a moment he thought a human was speaking behind that voice.

[You need to get the gem, the elves will tell you which gem you need and form a team for your missions]

"Bu-but what kind of missions are you talking about?" Lucas put a hand to his forehead, everything seemed ridiculous to him at the moment.

[You still don't know, what a dumbass.]

This sentence set Lucas' mind racing, "how am I supposed to know everything if no one here tells me anything?" He closed his eyes forcibly to relax, then spoke again, "do you at least know where Kali is?"

[She's fine, don't worry.]

"How do I know you're telling me the truth?"

[I don't have a lying function]

The system replied again with an attitude, 'if it was a human, it would probably be like my maths teacher.' Thought Lucas.

"How do I get out of here?"

[Form a team, complete all the missions, follow the rules and win the tournament]

He backed away a little, "what tournament?" He asked the system.

This surprised him again because when he entered this place he'd never heard of a tournament.

[The tournament is your way out, if you manage to win it, this place will grant you a wish]

"A wish?" His pulse was beating faster through his veins now because he knew there was a chance he could get out of here without having to find the wizard, but this whole team thing made him doubt it a little, 'the only teammate to me is Kali.' He sighed.

What was more important to him was the last sentence of the system: 'What wish?'

"If my wish has anything to do with my human world, will it be granted when I get back?" He asked again.

[Your wish is your wish no matter where you're or where you go]

Luca's pupils enlarged, forcing him to breathe harder, "That's it, Mina... I've found a way to make you well again." His chest was heavy now, filled with joyful feelings that wanted to come out of his body.

"Is t-that true?" Lucas couldn't believe what the system had just told him.

If he managed to get away from this place without having to find the wizard, bring Kali with him, and be granted a wish. He could wish for Mina to be able to walk again, no more hospital bills, and no more stress and depression in his family.

Everything could go back to normal if he fulfills his mission and wins the tournament in this place.

"System, how do I put the team together?" Lucas' heart leaped with joy, his spirits lifted, and he was ready to do anything to win now.

[Too tired to explain, Goodbye.]

"That bitch..."
