Chapter 36 Words That Cause You Pain

"Lucas, are you awake now?"

A deep, masculine tone addressed him from above.

"Do you think he'll be all right?"

"Yes, he should be fine, maybe he's just sleeping very soundly?"

"No time to wait, wake him up!"

Xina stepped closer to Lucas and nudged him with her foot, "wake up!" She shouted at him as she nudged his body with her leg.

"Tttssh, this is driving me crazy, wake up you idiot!" She repeated herself.

-Do not listen to her... A voice in Lucas' head appeared again.

Fear flooded Lucas' back and he woke up immediately, "what's going on?" His eyes widened instantly as he saw Xina and Haya standing before him

Sweat covered his skin and forced him to breathe intensely

*whooh* *aah* *whooh* *aah*

He continued to breathe in, trying to understand what was happening at that moment.

There was a little concern on Haya's and Xina's faces. Eyebrows raised, lips puckered, wrinkles on their foreheads that looked like rays of sunlight, 'what have I done this time?' He asked, immediately putting the blame on himself.

"How are you? Any flaws?" Haya leaned forward towards him.

"I do not understand..." Lucas' face paled and his pupils also became smaller.

"You fainted, Renexa took all your energy, and we fled the elven city, but one thing that's bothering us right now is that the elf general is chasing us, so we have to keep moving." Haya raised his hand and placed it on his neck, he was walking in circles.

The words that came out of his mouth were always mean and direct, Lucas sometimes thought he really did not like him, especially the way he always spoke to him and treated him.

Lucas already accepted the fact that he should be nicer to the people who lived here and he should listen more if he wanted to survive and get out of there.

"So-so, we should be on our way then." He agreed with what Haya had said and immediately stood up. He removed the sticky and dead leaves from his now black-looking trousers and looked Haya straight in the eye.

To show him that he was ready to go and would do anything he was told, or maybe he just wanted to look like that?

"Okay, we should go then." He looked around searchingly for Kali, "Where-where is Kali?" He swallowed.

"She's on a watch, and will join us soon, we have a mission to finish first." Haya looked at Xina, diverted his gaze, and looked back at Lucas.

"What kind of mission?" Lucas raised an eyebrow and stepped back a little.

"We have finally started the game again, we need to move as quickly as possible to finish it." Xina interrupted him with a cold tone, 'does she always have to be like this?' Lucas rolled his eyes.

"Whatever you think, kid, but the system has destined us to be your subordinates in this game, there's nothing we can do right now if we want to be rewarded in the end." She added as she let out a long sigh of disappointment.

At least in Lucas' eyes, she looked disappointed.

Xina was not the type of person to hide her feelings, she was very blunt and never held back with her actions or words, she was arrogant but proved her strength many times, she was kind but not kind enough to care about people she did not know.

"I was not thinking of anything, but ok..." Lucas turned his gaze sideways to see if he could catch a glimpse of Kali anywhere.

Kali was nowhere to be seen with his eyes, instead, his feet made a stringing sound, he heard the cracking of twigs and leaves beneath his feet. A smell of transience floated in the air... no idea what lay ahead of him!

Gripping his fist tightly, he let his gaze continue to wander.

"She's nowhere to be seen," said Lucas aloud.

"Who, Kali?" Xina turned back to Lucas with a cold stare.

She was obviously giving him the impression that she didn't like him, and she wasn't hiding it.

"You know, ever since I've known you, you've always been rude to me, but nice to everyone else, what's your problem?" Lucas suddenly winced as a vibrating, sharp pain ran through his skin, making him move.

"What was that?" He froze, "seriously, what was that? Lucas felt as if his organs were growing colder from the inside. Winter was celebrating inside him, but where was this feeling coming from?

-If you talk to her like that, I may end you here on the spot.-

The same voice of Izek spoke in his head, with a loud and proud tone, the voice sounding as if it was ready to kill Lucas on the spot if one more word came out of his mouth.

'Why are you talking to me?' Lucas asked him back.

-' Because I do what I want, you peasant.-

The voice laughed.

"Lucas, are y'all right?" Haya shook him gently by the shoulders.

Lucas returned to normal and tilted his head to the side, "Yes, I'm fine, but something strange just happened." Shivers ran over his skin.

"What do you mean? What happened?" Xina interrupted him.

Lucas looked at her again to check if it would work again, "What do you care, I'm not talking to you." His tone was harsh.

"Ouch." Lucas' head filled with pain and it began to throb.

A sharp pain shot through him from the inside, his whole body, but he couldn't understand exactly where the pain was coming from. His white skin was covered with little red dots that tingled with pain.

He clung tightly to his side, where he felt the greatest ache in his spleen. He turned around and tried to hold himself upright, but the twinge was too strong, so his face contorted a bit

-I told you to watch what you say," Izek spoke again.

"Ugghh, now I see what's going on..." Lucas spoke loudly on purpose so Xina could hear what he was going to say next.

"Xina is Izek's lover."
