Chapter 1483 - Curtain

The spheres reached the highest point they could and their direction changed downwards. But at that exact moment, the cracks on all of them opened up and an energy ripple spread out from each one of them.

Every ball had a different type of colour because of the elemental energy they held together and that painted a colourful picture.

But that was not the end of it.

When the ripples are expanding more and more, they overlapped because there is not much of distance between them in the first place.

As soon as the overlap occurred, streaks of energy lines spread out of the sphere. And the number of streaks is dependent on how many ripples of spheres did the overlap took place with.

The energy lines joined with other spheres through this overlap and the same thing happened in every single sphere.

Now each sphere has at least three to four lines spreading out of them connecting them to three or four other spheres.

This created a curtain of elemental energies spread by these spheres and the curtain is extremely dense. It is like a large fine-mesh covering the army marching forward.

Everyone stopped in their tracks immediately and that included the twenty or so Astral Plane peak stage Consummate cultivators. Even they could sense that something big is about to happen with this energy curtain.

When all the spheres are increasing their speed as they zoomed towards the army, one of the soldiers couldn't take it anymore and attacked it with an arrow.

But the arrow that was purely condensed with fire elemental energy was stopped by the curtain a ripple spread across the mesh.

The fire elemental energy lines within the mesh at one spot brightened up a bit more as they absorbed the elemental energy that was within the arrow.

"All of you don't attack. Just defend yourself."

One of the old men who saw this said out loud. He doesn't know what would happen if he attacked it and he definitely couldn't understand what would happen if it landed on them, so he went with the best option he could find, to neutrally defend themselves.

The spears rapidly fell down and as soon as they are less than a meter away from the people, they exploded.

*BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*

A series of explosive sounds occurred, but it is not some random explosion. Instead, it is a very powerful and closely contained explosion of energy and it stayed within the curtain mesh made out of energy streak lines.

The only thing that came out of the explosion is actually mental pieces of the spheres that are propelled by the after-effects of the explosions.

The old men who are leading the army were stunned.

They didn't expect such an impact. There is not much effect on them, but this even explosion of multiple colours that is extremely beautiful to look at is also like a curtain of death on them.

The cultivators who got stuck in the explosions felt as different elemental energies seeped into their bodies with excruciating pain while destroying the cells and in turn the flesh and bone.

Their internal organs shook and broke while the remaining intact pieces are completely corrupted with the elemental energy that is not theirs.

Even the grand elders took a little brunt of the attack. Their barriers are being eroded with the elemental energy that is running rampant all over.

Everyone from within the Gaja clan is surprised by what they saw.

"What the hell just happened?"

Gamin asked with his mouth wide open. Looking at his expression Saran couldn't help but shake his head.

The subordinates that are around them are all trying to make sense of it and are hoping that Gamin and Saran knew something. So, Gamin's blatant agreement to not understanding what just happened is a bit troubling.

He at least could have kept his dignity by keeping his mouth shut.

The reactions at the clan estate's wall are even more troubling.

"What fuck just happened? These things are the by-products of these large domes? What the hell is being made inside?"

"Something that I have been thinking about for a while. In fact, it is a new experimental project. Since Sivan would be coming with my own old designs, I wanted to find something that could counter that.

It is great, isn't it?"

Sam said with a smile.

"That chain reaction is fucking amazing."

Grivon said with a gulp as he looked at the explosion zone through the telescope. The cannons shot once again and another curtain appeared in the air. Even though each curtain is creating a large expanse, the army is spread over an even larger area. It only destroyed a small piece of it and even that was not complete destruction.

Looking at the curtain, one of the old men attacked it directly before it could react.

The spear he threw cut the curtain into two and the aftereffects of the blow made the two curtains spread into two different directions.

But this didn't reduce any damage. The energy from the spear spread into the two smaller meshes and they created massive explosions in the curtains.

Even though the curtain and spheres are not very close to the army this time, the explosion effect still made them take a lot of brunts and residual force.

The only thing reduced is the elemental energy corrosion to their bodies.

Apart from that, the damage really remained the same.

"Is there no way to get away from this?" Grivon asked. For some reason, he is a bit nervous.

"There is actually. But I am not telling you this now."

Sam said with a smile and sat on the wall.

"You are that calm that they wouldn't be able to reach here?"

"Even if they do, there are many things that are waiting for them. It would be a long time for us to attack. Trust me on that one."

Giyon thought for a moment and sat down. Grivon followed suit and they spectated.

"So, when are those sphere cannons going to be useless? Only when they come near isn't it?"

"Yes. When they are too near, it is way too much of trouble to use the cannons in such close range.

They will destroy themselves. That is the time when the domes kick in. The other product you thought was useless is going to be of help at that time."

"I am really looking forward to seeing it after all of this destruction. I just hope it helps uncle and Saran."

"Just wait and see."

Sam said leisurely.

The army marched forward and the old men leading it realized the damage the cannons are doing at the long-range and led the group at full speed.

Soon, the cannons are useless and they are retracted back into the walls. The operators of the cannons went back into the city and took up their other positions meanwhile, Gamin got ready to jump into the battle.

At this moment though, a communication device on him got an alert.

"Hello Gamin, this is Sam."

"Yeah."

"How many people can you and Saran handle without any trouble?"

"Five? Why are you asking?"

"Try to lure five people forward first on my cue. There is a circular line out of the gate ten meters away."

"Yes, there is."

"On my cue make sure the five people are within that line and the rest are behind it."

"Okay."

Gamin explained what Sam said and Saran agreed.

Both of them stepped forward and picked the five people at the forefront. They tackled and the rest of the old men who are in the same league as them tried to march forward. But right when Sam signalled Gamin, things changed.

The domes that are dormant until then suddenly glowed with different elemental energies and the small metal puppets that looked like a cross between bats and eagles were launched from those domes.

As they are shot towards the city walls, the domes activated some of the hidden nodes within the city and a large crystal dome appeared all around the city.

It is formed with many translucent colours and they are shifting non-stop.

Just as the dome was being closed, Saran and Gamin ran back from the encirclement and jumped into the dome. Along with them came the five people that they are tackling.

The rest of the people are out of the dome and they were stunned by its sudden appearance.

"The dome looks so thin, is it going to work against these people? I mean, it is hard to find formations that work against people of that cultivation."

Giyon asked back on the city wall.

"Of course not, maybe it will be able to take three blows at most and it will collapse. But the dome is not the thing that is going to hold them all off. It is mostly for the rest of the chump change.. For big dogs, something else is awaiting them."
