Chapter 87 [Liam's Playground]

Using all of his remaining Arcane Power at once, he drove the Arcane Kunai into the chest of the Shedim Champion. It slashed at Liam with its huge claws in retaliation but missed him as he jumped back the moment the entire Arcane Kunai had been buried into the flesh of the Shedim Champion's chest.

Liam's attack had been issued at the uppermost area of the foul spot that he had targeted and cut earlier already. It was the wound he had inflicted with the Black Steel Halbert he had thrown at the Shedim Champion at the start of the battle.

A Shedim Champion's heart was located in the center of its chest rather than tilting slightly to the left. Liam's Arcane Kunai disappeared in the long and deep gash before the most potent version of the Petrification Poison was unleashed, petrifying the Boss Monster's chest.

The Shedim Champion roared out and it attempted to get up from the ground. However, its movements were sluggish as the poison took effect and it fell back to the ground.

Liam's eyes glimmered with hope when he realized that the Shedim Champion's heart must have been petrified a little.

That was what he had hoped for, but it was still unexpected and too easy to see that things were actually going as he had planned. After all, the Shedim Champion was a Boss Monster that created quite a bit of trouble for him.

His arm was broken, his hand was cut more than twenty times and he was bleeding profusely from the massive wound in his chest.

Fortunately, his right claw was still fine. He rushed forward again the moment he sensed the opportunity and pierced his claw deep into the already existing wound.

His claws felt some strong resistance, probably from the petrified flesh, but Liam pierced through it, ignoring the pain he felt from getting cut once again. The edges of the petrified flesh that chipped from his impact were quite a nuisance to deal with, but the pain was nothing in comparison to the gains he was bound to make.

His right claw met some resistance but he drove them deeper into the Shedim Champion's Chest. The Boss Monster was still struggling but it was not able to muster the strength to lift its arms and slash at Liam to remove the lethal threat forever. Moving became harder with every passing second, and it was only a matter of time before the Shedim stopped moving altogether.

Its movements stopped and so did the wildly beating heart that was filled with unwillingness and the desire to kill the invaders. The Shedim Champion was not ready to die yet, not ready to give up. It wanted to pursue its dreams, become a valuable member of its race, fight for the honor of the Shedim and become a pillar of its race. It had wanted to make its family proud, not die miserably at the hands of a single ant that was supposed to be much weaker than he was.

However, life is cruel. Reality is harsh.

Only the strong will survive.

As for the weak, they could only pray to be spared, hide where nobody could find them, or become stronger…strong enough to defeat everyone who wanted to kill them!

Liam ended up becoming stronger. He twisted his claws as they pierced the Shedim Champion's heart, ending the Shedim Champion's life. The last remnants of life in the eyes of the Boss Monster dispersed with a last teardrop that trickled down its cheeks.

Liam saw this but he couldn't give a single fuck about the tear. He was exhausted, in pain and his vision was clouded by with azure holographic screens that notified him about his victory against the Shedim Champion.

Liam was dead-tired and bleeding severely, but he was still able to take note of the underground tower's name.

"This bitch…" He cursed out while his claw kept rummaging through the lifeless body of the Shedim Champion's chest.

Liam was looking for the Arcane Kunai which he found a minute later. He looked at the Boss Monster's Corpse for a moment with his blurred vision and sighed deeply.

Once the Arcane Kunai was clean, he put it back on its scabbard. Afterward, he touched the corpse and stored it in his Small Shop, where he offered to sell it for 150 Arcanium.

The Shedim Champion Boss Monster was probably worth a lot more but he was pretty sure that not many were able or willing to pay a higher price.

After all, only the Dwarves could make the most use of the organs or other materials that could be harvested from the Shedim Champion. Its hide, fangs, and claws could be turned into B-rank Weapons and leather armor as long as it was used properly.

Thus, Liam didn't bother to lower his price. It was already a steal deal with his listed price!

Liam walked over to the heavy harpoon which he offered for 100 Arcanium. It could be molten and reforged into more than thirty weapons as long as one was willing to spend some time and effort to do that.

Liam was too tired to bother about anything else other than the Arcanium he could earn. He was tired, wounded and he was in need of some more Arcanium to buy a bunch of potions to tend to himself.

However, even before he was able to access the Arcane Shop, Liam felt that he was growing weaker. The Adrenaline that had surged through his body dispersed. His movements were getting more sluggish and he found himself falling to the ground not long after.

'I deserve a few hours of sleep…right?' He asked himself, without receiving an answer as his eyes closed and his mind shut down.
