Chapter 125 Heart

Max appeared behind Liam and he pierced his dagger forward with a terrifying velocity.

He was in Liam's blind spot and his surprise attack was fast enough to stab him once or twice before the monster of a Devil would be able to react.

At least, that was supposed to be the case.

Max was already imagining the feeling of his dagger cutting into Liam's flesh and reaping his life when the sound of metal colliding with metal rang through his ears.

His movement came to a halt all of a sudden, and he found himself unable to continue his attack.

Looking down at his blade, he found a levitating Kunai blocking the dagger with the flat side. The Arcane Kunai was vibrating and it shot at him all of a sudden as Max began to move, trying to initiate a second attack before it was too late. He tried to stab again, just to hear the sound of his dagger's blade shattering to pieces.

The Arcane Kunai pierced the dagger, breaking it easily.

"Wha–..." Max shouted out loud, just to freeze in his tracks as Liam turned his head around. Swirling vortexes of darkness had manifested in the pupils, wanting to devour the young martial artist inside them.

He blanked out and stared at Liam, whose darkness vortex-like pupils seemed to seal away the abyss, while the hazy shade of purple and black, created the diffused glow of a galaxy that hypnotized Max with the help of the speckles of white dots in his royal purple iris.

"Don't do it!" Felix shouted out loud all of a sudden, but Liam didn't listen. He smiled lightly at Max, whose body shuddered and erupted in goosebumps as Liam's right arm shot out.

Splash

Crack.

"Arghh!!"

A scream of terror tore through Max's throat as Liam's claw pierced into his chest, cracking his rib cage before digging deeper inside.

With a gleam in his eyes, Liam tugged at something in Max's chest which caused the young man's eyes to widen in shock when Liam showed the young martial artist what he had just retrieved from his chest.

Everyone grew tense and nobody moved a muscle as the sight of a wildly thumping heart came into their view.

Max collapsed on the ground all of a sudden. Liam looked at the limply lying body for a moment and he held Max's heart above his head before he squeezed hard.

A sickening squelch later, Liam's claws dug into the heart, puncturing and tearing through it, turning it into a mangled piece of flesh that didn't resemble its original appearance at all.

Blood gushed out of the mashed heart, running down Liam's hands as it poured down on Max's head.

The frightened women who had been with Liam before screamed in terror, but nobody was in a condition to pay them any attention. Their screams were nothing but the sound of a breeze in their ears at this moment.

"You…"

Felix was flustered. The moment Max attacked Liam with killing intent, he knew that it would be very hard to solve this issue on good terms. Liam was not someone who would just accept an attempted murderer with a 'Oh, you want to kill me? That's fine, I won't retaliate. Go for my neck, buddy!'.

Liam was the type of person to repay kindness with kindness and hatred with even more hatred.

This was something he demonstrated once again, quite clearly at that.

"Do you have a problem with what I just did?" Liam asked, his Devil's Eyes staring deep into the soul of the flustered men and women on the plaza.

Nobody dared to utter a single word as Liam's gaze traveled through all the people.

"As I thought."

The Livral Orb materialized in his hand and a huge maw made of white shining fangs shot out of the ground, devouring Max's corpse.

A second series of screams rocked the plaza and the shock on the face of Felix and his group of people was apparent. Even the women who had already known about the Livral Orb were shocked. Once again, something grotesque had happened right in front of them. How could they not scream out loud?

"We will leave then," Liam said, motioning to the people of his group to follow him. The screams of the women were likely to attract some monsters, and he wanted to avoid fighting when he was not sure what kinds of monsters their screams attracted.

"Ah, by the way… Did her parents come by, by chance?" He asked, halting in his tracks. Liam pointed at Felicia while adding, "Was someone asking for Felicia Jual?"

Felix didn't answer at first. He was still too shocked about the incidents that had happened and needed some time to take a deep breath or two and recover. It was not that easy to digest Liam killing someone in cold blood, after all!

"I don't know her family, and nobody asked for her."

Felix figured that if he didn't answer Liam's question, things would get only more difficult for them. And given Liam's temper, he did not want to irk him moments after he had killed Max. The death of his comrade and friend pained him, but he had the responsibility to protect and lead the residents of the gymnasium. That was his mission, and he intended to fulfill it.

Even if he wanted to fight Liam for his murder, it was a fact that Liam had merely defended himself against Max. Killing Max might not have been necessary, but Felix knew that Liam wouldn't spare someone who attacked him.

That was not the type of person Liam was.

"Alright. Bye then."

Liam turned away and he dashed out of the plaza without another backward glance. There was no need to stay longer in a potential danger zone.

Olivia, Felicia, Jennie, Hellen, and Derek got back to their senses and quickly rushed behind Liam.

Hellen and Derek were still reeling from the aftereffects of the shock of witnessing how brutal and cruel Liam was to his enemies, but it was not as if it was the first time they had seen Liam kill another human.

It scared them a little, but there was not much they could do about that.

They needed strength and they could tell that Liam was the strongest.

If they wanted to learn from the best, they had to make some sacrifices.

Furthermore, it was never bad to face the bitter reality sooner rather than foolishly living in a dreamworld that didn't actually exist.

"Felicia, lead the way!"
