Chapter 136 Liam, The Alchemist

The situation was a little awkward until they returned back to the underground shelter.

Liam was not really bothered about Felicia's actions, but he had been a little surprised. It was not normal that someone touched him that freely.

However, since Felicia had been too focused on tending to his wounds, Liam shrugged it off.

Back in the underground shelter, he was frowned upon. Nobody expected them to return so soon. Felicia reunited with her parents once again while the others began to put aside a few things to give Liam enough space to start brewing the potion.

"The Phasma Lavitas Potion is a highly potent potion with mystical effects. It can only be brewed by somewhat experienced Alchemists and Witches. I never brewed this kind of potion, though I created more complicated potions already. However, my strength is much lower as it had been at that time.

That being said, don't ask any questions, and remain silent until I finished the potion!" Liam explained in a calm and composed manner.

He retrieved a few tools from the Keychain of Miniature Tools which he expanded in size. There was a beaker, a tripod, and a few more tools he would need soon.

There was no time to waste sitting around idle. The sooner the Phasma Lavitas Potion was completed, the easier it would be to dispel the poison in the surrounding as well.

The creation of the Phasma Lavitas Potion was already enough to do this. The fume and exposed liquid of the Phasma Lavitas Potion would be more than enough to cleanse the air in an area of more than 50 meters. That was enough to cleanse the underground shelter and the dojo.

Preparing his working space didn't take long. After ten minutes he was done. Thus, he could start retrieving the monster carcasses. Liam had to extract the most potent cells within their blood, preferably the cells with the strongest life force. This was not an easy task, but it was something that could be done with Liam's proficiency.

He drained several liters of blood from the Vermin Rats and other monsters they had hunted in the underground sewers before he started the extraction process. With his low amount of Arcane Power, it took a while to extract the blood, but he detached one blood droplet after another from the big buckets he had used as a deposit for the drained blood.

Extracting the highly potent blood required half an hour. However, once he was done, a beaker was filled with 300 milliliters. That was more than enough to create a total of 30 Phasma Lavitas Potions. Liam was allowed to make some mistakes that way.

Not that he planned to fail, but it was always better to be prepared for the worst.

"Each Phasma Lavitas Potion required 10 milliliters of highly potent source-infested blood, 5 grams of moon crystal, 30 milliliters of Arcanale water that has a 7 to 3 ratio of Amalanale water to Arcane Power, a few petals of the Gingansen flower, and 3 grams of the herbal mixture 'Sun God's Majesty'."

Liam mumbled silently to himself as he purchased the goods. He bought only twenty sets of each, though he was ready to buy ten more sets. He was fortunate to have enough Arcanium to spare.

Once all ingredients had been prepared accordingly, Liam started the brewing process of the Phasma Lavitas Potion.

The first step in making the potion was to grind four grams of moon crystal and the petals of the Gingansen flower together in a mortar until they form a fine powder. Liam finished this quickly before he added the ten milliliters of highly potent source-infested blood to the mixture before he began to stir it well.

The highly potent source-infested blood acted as a binding ingredient in the potion. It would also be extremely sour once finished. Of course, the unique properties of the blood would slowly be altered once the other ingredients were added.

Liam stirred the mixture until a sour smell reached him. It cleansed his nostrils and caused a strong itch. That was when Liam added the herbal mixture, Sun God's Majesty, into the mortar.

The herbal mixture 'Sun God's Majesty' was a creation of the Dragoon Empire that worshipped the Sun God. The Dragoon Empire had a Dragon God, who reigned the entire Empire since millennials, but even the Dragon God was said to be worshipping the Sun God.

That was a little weird, but it was not directly related to the herbal mixture. At the end of the day, it was only important to know that the Blessing of the Sun God was said to be in the herbal mixture 'Sun God's Majesty', as well as the Dragon's Authority. That was also why the herbs in the mixture were so unique that nobody could replicate them.

It was also the reason why the Sun God's Majesty's herbal mixture was the most expensive among the ingredients he had to purchase for the Phasma Lavitas Potion.

The mixture was first diluted with five milliliters of Arcanale Water, and heated up in a test tube until the desired reaction would occur. The Sun God's Majesty's herbal mixture expands, turning into a sponge. The Arcanale Water would disappear inside the herbal mixture which Liam put in a different mortar once he saw that the 'sponge' turned green. He crushed the sponged, extracting the essence with all its nutritions and magical properties that had been accumulated in the sponge.

The essence was put in the other mortar, and add the last gram of the moon crystal into the mixture. The Moon crystal was believed to have a powerful connection to each of the Ten Great Realms since ancient times. There was only one moon in each of the Realms, but nobody could reach it.

Oddly enough, the moon that ought to be eerily close seemed to never get closer, no matter how long one traveled in a straight line into the sky.

Finally, once everything was completed and the ingredients would slowly mend together, Liam had to wait for the perfect moment to add the remaining Arcanale Water into a round-bottomed flask which would be heated up to 40 degrees before the mixture in the mortar would be added to it.

After all, the ingredients had been added to the flask, Liam stirred the mixture well and let it simmer for a few minutes over a low flame. As the potion simmers, the ingredients started to react with one another, and the mixture began to glow in a faint reddish-green light.

The final product was green in color and it smelled sour.

Everyone in the room frowned a bit, except Liam who was fully aware of what happened.

Once the potion was ready, he poured it into a vial and corked it tightly. The Phasma Lavitas Potion was now ready to use!

When drinking the potion, one would feel a sense of disgust and incredible sourness for a few seconds, before one would be cleansed thoroughly.

It was also possible to experience a heightened sense of awareness and may even have vivid dreams. The latter was something that was often used by Succubusses and other Demons who wanted to infiltrate the dreams of their opponents, breaking their will from within.

Of course, that was also why one had to be extremely cautious. The potion was highly potent, after all!

"If someone wants to try it out first, here you go. I will finish 20 complete potions, and won't help out more than that. Break the potion, and you will have to suffer. Don't trust me, and you will die, and probably drag everyone else with you to death.

It's not tasty and you may hate it, but if good taste is more important than your life, you might as well kill yourself."

Liam's words caused the others to frown. Only the small group belonging to Liam was already fully accustomed to his hot and cold, treatment. He was a kind man but also very cruel and unforgiving when someone crossed the lines.

Over the past few weeks, Olivia and the others got to know a lot about Liam's personality. With his background, it made sense to act as he did. With that in mind, Olivia, Jennie, and Felicia reached out for the potion, intending to drink it immediately.

They wanted to show everyone that there was nothing to worry about and that it was fine to trust Liam.

The three girls looked at each other as they moved at the same time. Faint smiles blossomed on their lips as they halted in their tracks.

"I guess, the three of us are ready to drink it. Who's going first?" Olivia asked, still smiling.

"I can," Felicia said, while Jennie nodded her head as well.

"I don't mind either.

Liam looked at the three before he cleaned his tools properly. Before using them again, they had to be cleaned to remove all remnants the ingredients might have left behind. This was pretty important because Liam didn't want to mess up with the follow-up potions. It could end pretty badly if the ratio of ingredients would be messed up.

The antidote might actually end up turning into a highly potent potion.

That was not something anyone want to happen. Thus, it took quite a while before Liam could start the second brewing.

'I really need to learn how to mass-produce potions, or buy an alchemy set with a cleansing function!'

Meanwhile, Olivia swallowed the content of the Phasma Lavitas Potion.

Her face turned paper-white and she looked like she was about to vomit at any moment.
