Chapter 223 - 223 Truth About The City

223 Truth About The City

Among the people in the dining, Raphael was the only one who didn’t receive a notification message from his M-watch, and as he stared at the people around him, he couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

Devon was about to put another food into his mouth when the message came in. And upon reading the message, he lost all appetite instantly.

“Well, it’s not like we didn’t know what we are getting ourselves into,” Bane said as he stared at Aiden and the others around the table.

“I guess, you’re right, and besides we have the system has our aid. So, life won’t be that difficult, I’m sure of that.” Aiden replied.

As for Melinda and Becky, they had a grim look on their face.

Even though they knew the experience in the new-age city was going to be dreadful, they still hoped it wasn’t going to be as cruel as it was said to be.

But, after seeing the first quests they were assigned as silver students, they realized that this was going to be a hell of a drive.

Melinda took a deep breath, she held onto Becky’s hand, “We will survive this.” She said in a reassuring tone.

The truth about the new age city was that it can’t just be a place that flocked around with metabeasts, it was created as a training ground by the academy for the beasts.

.....

While the purpose of the academy creating the city had yet to be discovered ever since it had been created, several metahumans had been thrown into the city to temper the beasts in there

The beasts in here were deadly and ruthless, and the majority of them viewed humans, as the scorn of the world.

For some reason, they seemed to believe that they were the only existence that should exist in this world and that all other beings were inferior to them.

“The two-headed eagle has laid its first egg, you’re to steal its egg…” As Bane went behind Devon and began reading the message on his M-watch, there was shock written all over his face.

And as Bane read it out loud, those around the table reacted upon hearing the task that Devon was assigned.

“A two-headed beast! That’s no less than a B-Rank metahuman, and now that she is of adulthood, I can only imagine, how strong she would be.” Becky muttered.

“I knew the academy hated nominal students, but I didn’t expect the hatred to be this deep,” Becky added.

Responding to Becky, Aiden shook his head, “Even though the nominal student has it harder than some of us, I don’t think the academy hates them.”

“There’s likely going to be a clue around the two-headed eagles, once you figure it out, then getting it egg won’t be difficult.” Said Aiden.

Bane, who had remained quiet suddenly hit the table and said, “Devon will do just fine, I’m sure of that.”

“Or have you forgotten that he has a trump card?”

After Bane spoke, it was suddenly all eyes fixed on Devon. Everyone’s eyes were all glued to him, causing him to be a bit nervous, but after a few seconds, they moved their gaze away from him.

“So, what’s your guy’s task, mine is to train the assassin caterpillar,” Bane said in an excited tone.

As the image of the assassin’s caterpillars emerged in the other’s heads, they couldn’t help but shake their head at Bane.

“I have to open a portal that will send two A-Rank meta-beasts to the outside world,” Aiden answered a second after.

“I’m told to draw something that will fascinate the apes and elephant at the square garden in the city,” Becky said.

Becky had only just spoken when she recalled what Aiden said.

She turned to the others, wondering if she had heard wrong, but upon seeing them staring at Aiden, she turned toward him quickly.

“Did… Did you just say that you’re able to create a portal that can send us out of here if you want?” Bane blurted with a tinge of excitement present in his voice.

“Yes, I can,” Aiden answered.

Those words had only just come out of Aiden’s mouth when he realized the weight of what he had just said.

“No, no, no, no, no… The academy has warned me not to use my powers in that way for any of the students here.” Aiden said, “Except if it is absolutely necessary, meaning for the right course.”

“The punishment for the crime is expulsion!”

As the first points he gave didn’t seem to confuse those around the table, Aiden quickly stated the penalty in place if he were to break the rule.

“It’s alright Aiden, we won’t ask you to create any portal for us, as we still want you here,” Bane said.

“But, I can’t certainly say the same about a week from now,” Bane added.

“Hahaha!”

The atmosphere in the dining soon returned to the lively state it had been before the notification message came in.

Elisa, Melinda, Becky, and Aurora said what the task they were assigned was, and the group discussed it for a while before moving past It.

And among them, the person who seemed to have the most satisfying work was Aurora. She was instructed to create an attack as well as a defense-based gadget for a group of meta-beasts.

Usually, upon seeing a human or metahuman in the city, the beasts would have chosen to attack instantly, but there was an image on which once the beasts laid eyes on, they would be restrained instantly.

As the message to create gadgets for the beasts came, she also received the image as well.

“I can’t share the image!” Aurora exclaimed once she saw the look on the people around the table.

After a few minutes, they were all done with the dishes in front of them, and one after the other they began leaving the dining room.

“I wish you all the best of luck! And try not to die on your quests.”

Bane, Aiden, and Devon were the first to leave the mansion, followed by Melinda, Becky, and Aurora.

As for Elisa, she pecked Raphael on the cheek gently before walking out of the mansion.
