CH 2.2

“Oh! I almost forgot about this.” Andrew slapped his forehead.

“We should throw a welcome party for you, I promise you Zheng, that way you’ll get to know all of us and all of our embarrassing stories in just one night.”

“What do you think, Garcia?” Andrew got excited at the mention of a party. He was a party animal.

“Well, that’s a good idea. What do you think, Zheng?” Garcia asked for Zheng Wei’s opinion. She was a smart and beautiful lady, and it was hard to refuse her.

“Uh, okay, I like parties.” Although Zheng Wei knew that the party was definitely not going to happen in such a short time, he felt that he should celebrate with a party if he could really complete the task in such a short time.

“Okay, it’s settled then. Let’s meet at the restaurant at 10 pm tonight, and I’ll let everyone know,” Andrew made the appointment as if he was afraid Zheng would change his mind.

“Okay.” Watching Andrew’s enthusiasm, Zheng Wei was also infected by his emotions.

“Ding.” The elevator made a soft sound as it reached the 17th floor, and Garcia and Andrew got off.

“Zheng, are you going to the 18th floor?” Garcia asked as she noticed that Zheng Wei didn’t seem to be getting off.

“Oh, yes. I have some questions to ask Professor Rodriguez,” Zheng Wei replied. Professor Rodriguez’s office was on the 18th floor, and he was a well-known psychoanalyst in the industry, with a particular interest in autism and schizophrenia. Of course, Zheng Wei didn’t know him and had only found out about him from the map provided by the system.

The map provided by the system was quite detailed, clearly indicating the room distribution on the 18th floor, as well as any notes to be aware of.

“Is that so?” Garcia looked at Zheng Wei and smiled, her slightly raised eyes carrying a hint of unknown meaning.

Zheng Wei felt a bit uneasy under her gaze, he chuckled a few times and lowered his head. He felt like Doctor Garcia could tell that he was lying.”Oh, that grumpy old man.” When he heard that Zheng Wei was going to see Professor Rodriguez, Andrew’s face twisted into a knot, probably thinking of some painful past experiences.

“Why are you so pessimistic, Zheng?” Andrew looked at Zheng Wei, seeming to be distressed.

“Okay, Andrew, Professor Rodriguez is a respected scholar. You can’t have a bias against him just because he failed you in his class.” Garcia looked at Andrew’s appearance and shook her head with a smile.

After finishing speaking, Garcia looked at Zheng Wei again and winked at him. “If you can get some information from him, I guarantee you will become the star of the party.”

Garcia smiled and emphasized the word “him”. She seemed to be very clear about who Zheng Wei really wanted to see on the 18th floor.

Zheng Wei immediately became nervous, but fortunately, Garcia did not continue to dwell on the topic. She just nodded gently at Zheng Wei and said with a smile, “Good luck to you.”

“Thank you.” Zheng Wei smiled awkwardly and nodded to them, “Goodbye, Andrew and Dr. Garcia. It was nice meeting you.”

“Goodbye, Zheng, don’t forget about the party.” Andrew reminded him not to forget the evening party.

He added, “If you still feel like it after meeting Professor Rodriguez.”

“I will go, Andrew.” Zheng Wei looked at his mockingly frightened expression and said seriously, “Maybe by then, we’ll have more to talk about.”

“Alright, take care, Zheng.” Andrew winked at him and waved goodbye. “Goodbye.” Zheng Wei smiled at the two of them and then pressed the elevator door.

The elevator doors slowly closed, and Zheng Wei’s smile quickly disappeared. He unbuttoned the first two buttons of his shirt to let himself breathe. He wasn’t good at interacting with people, even with warm-hearted people like Andrew and Dr. Garcia.

Moreover, there was a more important thing weighing on his mind right now. Zheng Wei stared at the pulsing screen and unconsciously reached for the surgical knife in his pocket.

“Ding,” a light sound, the elevator arrived on the 18th floor.
