Chapter 22

The next afternoon, she went to Moritz’s mansion to join him for dinner. Moritz, who had not yet finished his work, was in the study.

“Is this kind of clothes okay?”

As she entered his study, Lily asked.

She posed to show off her clothes. She wanted to hear him say that it was the perfect fit for seducing the Emperor.

“Ah, these are the clothes I bought. You didn’t wear them before I thought so I thought it wasn’t to your taste.”

“It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s that my chest is a little open…”

The answer sounded like it was made up. Lily gazed into his eyes, her voice fading at the strange guilt. Moritz, on the other hand, looked at her with dry eyes, and then concentrated on his work again.

Seeing his reaction, she went to his desk, leaned her body slightly, and glanced at the papers.

“You must be very busy.”

“Because harvest season is coming. There are things related to taxes…”

Moritz peered through the documents and glanced at Lily’s chest, which was exposed as she leaned her upper body down.

“Ha. It’s good that the clothes fit well, though will you let me focus on my work for now, Lily?”

His forehead was filled with frowns as he spoke, so Lily quickly got up and covered her chest. Her cheeks burned hot as she thought of how she would have looked from his angle.

“Ah, that… This isn’t on purpose…”

“Wasn’t you actually going to say you did it on purpose?”

With a mischievous smile, he teased Lily.

Displeased with his mischief, she glared at him once and left the study.

While Moritz finished his work, Lily waited for him in the parlor.

After a while, he finished his work and went to the dressing room. He pulled out the dark red suit that Lily had put together as a set and stared at his appearance.

It may be difficult to find clothes that wouldn’t fit a sculpturally handsome face, but those clothes particularly suited him. Still, no matter how well it looked on it, he couldn’t wear it. It was crazy to wear the same shade of clothes as the woman who was going to seduce the Emperor.

Moritz took out another dark blue suit and went to the parlor.

“Wow, Moritz. You’re really handsome.”

He held out his arm without saying a word at Lily’s praise. Although not noticing why he held out his arm, Lily sprinted out of the parlor first.

“Haa…”

He was not in the mood to enjoy the dinner. Moritz sighed at his neglected arm and followed Lily.

The Kneis mansion was close to the Imperial Palace. The two arrived at the Imperial Palace not long after they got on the carriage. Moritz didn’t say a word until their arrival.

When the carriage stopped, he got off first and then extended a hand to her.

“Ah, thank you.”

Holding his extended hand, Lily grabbed his hand and got off the carriage. Then, the corners of Moritz’s lips finally rose slightly.

The officials of the Imperial Palace, who had come out ahead of time and were waiting, led the two to a small dining room where the Emperor usually dined.

As Lily opened the door and entered, Matthias jumped up from his seat.

Noticing this, Moritz furrowed his eyebrows and glanced at Matthias up and down. When the hell did he ever get up like that to greet a guest? It was amazing… for his attitude to change like that just because Lily was here.

Matthias always behaved arrogantly, even to Grand Duke Moritz, who was second only to the Emperor.

Matthias approached Lily and asked for her hand. Lily hesitated before carefully reaching out her hand. For a 21st century person, it was a very embarrassing etiquette.

“Lady Lily.”

Matthias took her hand lightly and kissed the back of her hand softly, before gazing up at Lily.

Seeing the two of them, Moritz sat down first with a crooked smile. With his long fingers, he picked up the knife of unblemished silver.

“You were too late, and the food has cooled down. Though I hope you enjoy it.”

“What excellent guest hospitality. That’s why I was looking forward to the dinner.”

While Matthias and Moritz gave each other sarcastic remarks, Lily glanced at the many dishes on the table. How could Matthias eat like this every day just because he was born with an imperial spoon? Life was so unfair.

As the meal began, she used her knowledge to show courtesy. Tableware was used starting from the outside. The fork and knife should be placed in I-I position to signify that she was done eating.
