Chapter 37

When Bian Yi woke up, it was a bit late. By the time he and Kou Li returned home, Xiao Shu had already prepared to go to school.

Seeing him and Kou Li coming back from afar, the child’s previously expressionless face immediately fell.

Bian Yi was really afraid that he would cry, so he quickly went over and squatted in front of Xiao Shu, nervously looking at him, “Sorry Xiao Shu, Dad came back too late.”

Xiao Shu was only unhappy for a moment, and soon forgave Bian Yi: “Then Dad will also take me to school today, and after school, he will buy me my favorite cake!”

“Okay!” Bian Yi immediately agreed, relieved, and couldn’t help but kiss his family’s most obedient Xiao Shu.

Xiao Shu, afraid of blushing, dodged timidly and urged Bian Yi and Kou Li to hurry up and have breakfast, while he waited for them to finish.

Bian Yi didn’t dare to delay, and went upstairs to change clothes before coming down to eat.

Kou Li, on the other hand, was not in a hurry. He walked to the sofa where Xiao Shu was sitting, smoothed the sleepy child’s hair, and then went upstairs to change clothes.

The two adults were really fast when they needed to be. Eating breakfast only took a few minutes, and they didn’t make the child wait long.

There were still about ten pieces of puzzle pieces in front of Xiao Shu. He looked up and saw that the two adults had finished eating. He quickly and anxiously placed the remaining pieces in their proper positions within about ten seconds.

When Bian Yi walked over, some of the puzzle pieces that Xiao Shu had put in his schoolbag were still exposed.

He took a quick glance and judged that it was probably a puzzle of about a hundred pieces.

Xiao Shu had already put the puzzle completely into his schoolbag, and he was not sure if the last ten or so pieces he randomly put in were in the right positions or not.

But no matter whether they were correct or not, to be able to complete a puzzle of over a hundred pieces in such a short time- Bian Yi didn’t know what other children were like, but if he were to do it himself, he would not be able to complete it in ten minutes, especially since the picture was so small.

Bian Yi thought that what the system had told him in his “novel” was right.

Their Xiao Shu was indeed a super genius.

As a father, who wouldn’t want their child to be excellent? Bian Yi was naturally very happy, and he was not at all ashamed of the title of “super genius”.

Their Xiaoshu was just like that!

Bian Yi didn’t hesitate to praise Xiao Shu generously. When Kousen got off the school bus, his face was all flushed. Seeing his appearance, Bian Yi felt particularly happy. He caught the little one and kissed him on his red cheek.

There are teachers at the entrance of the campus who greet the students every day. Although the child is only three years old, he is also shy. After being kissed by Bian Yi, he kept swinging his little legs and wanted to get down from Bian Yi’s arms.

Bian Yi can hold Xiao Shu now, but don’t underestimate the child, even if he is only three years old, he can be quite strong. Bian Yi had to put him down, and he immediately ran away from Bian Yi and hid from the teacher. Only after he got into the school, he waved goodbye to Bian Yi.

The teachers at the entrance all smiled and teased Kousen, “Oh, Kousen is shy.” They laughed, and Xiao Shu ran even faster, making the teachers laugh even louder.

What a group of naughty adults, the little guy must have thought so.

Bian Yi smiled and watched Xiao Shu’s back at the school gate until he completely disappeared before leaving.

After sending off Xiao Shu, Bian Yi didn’t have much to do. In the morning, he went to the gym to work out, and at noon, he went to the lab to have lunch with Kou Li. The lab’s cafeteria offered a variety of dishes, and the presentation, taste, and nutrition were all very good. At least Bian Yi was very satisfied after exercising.

When he was almost finished eating, he suddenly realized that the chef in the lab seemed to be his own hire, and he was hired for a high salary.

Bian Yi couldn’t remember the specific year, but he could recall the reason.

It was probably the year when Kou Li just built the lab, and he was too busy with the project that he spent almost half a year in the lab.

During that time, Bian Yi had a movie of his own to act in.

When he returned, he found that his good husband had shrunk directly and lost more than 20 pounds.

Bian Yi scolded him severely, and after returning, he went to the lab with Kou Li without much rest.

After tasting the lab’s food, he started looking for a chef.

The food that was originally made was not bad, but it was not delicious enough to attract those hungry researchers to come and eat on time.

In the end, it took Bian Yi several days to dig up a chef from a certain hotel, and then everyone in the lab could eat on time. However, these people were still ungrateful and even complained that delicious food only affected their research progress. Bian Yi was so angry that he immediately retorted, “What are you complaining about? He wasn’t hired just for you guys!”

When he said that, the whole cafeteria was engulfed by a chorus of “Oh~” cheers. Then someone pushed him, and he stumbled right into Kou Li’s arms.

Even though they were already married at that time, Bian Yi blushed when he was pushed into Kou Li’s embrace.

Finally, Kou Li half embraced him, carrying two plates of food, and took him back to the lounge to eat.

Now, Bian Yi was in Kou Li’s lounge.

He had finished his meal.

Kou Li was eating while looking at data, so was a bit slower than him.

This scene coincided with many scenes from this experiment in the past.

Bian Yi frowned and picked up a spoon, tapping Kou Li’s plate with the handle. “Eat your food properly!”

Kou Li was clearly stunned for a moment. He looked up at Bian Yi, whose face showed displeasure, and placed the plate on the table. Silently adjusting his posture as Bian Yi requested, he began to eat properly.

After a moment, both of them laughed lightly and briefly, but they could hear each other clearly.

…..

Jiang Shi was practicing hard in the training room.

The day for recording the program was very close, and he didn’t want to just coast by. For the first performance, he naturally had to show his best form and ability.

Jiang Jie was standing outside the training room, her eyebrows furrowed as she prepared to ask Jiang Shi to stop. However, when the words reached her lips, she hesitated and closed her mouth.

For the past few days, Jiang Shi had been doing nothing but sleeping, eating, and practicing singing and dancing.

It hadn’t even started yet, and the first round wouldn’t directly eliminate anyone. They would just be placed in a danger zone, and the people in the danger zone in the second round would only be unable to decide their own performance order. Besides, “making a comeback” was a particularly popular move.

In the previous seasons, there were a few contestants who made a successful comeback, but perhaps because they did it too many times, the audience was not stupid. Later on, some people failed in their comebacks, and the “comeback” storyline was not played out in every season, or at least not as prominently.

Although that was the case, there was no need to work so hard!

Jiang Jie looked at Jiang Shi and really felt like she was about to break down.

Xiao Shitou was working too hard. As his agent, seeing such a hardworking artist naturally made her happy.

But she also felt sorry for him.

She began to wonder if she shouldn’t have taken on this program, but the thought only lasted for a split second.

That was impossible. She and Xiao Shitou had to take on this program no matter what. It was such a good resource, such a rare opportunity.

Jiang Jie watched for a while longer and no longer thought about how to make Jiang Shi rest.

Young people who were willing to work so hard were rare.

Talent plus strength plus effort, Xiao Shitou had a promising future!

Using all his strength for each performance was a good thing.

…Although she would still worry that Jiang Shi wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Sweat dripped from his forehead into his eyes. Jiang Shi blinked several times forcefully, causing the skin around his eyes to turn slightly red.

At this moment, he didn’t think about anything and dared not to.

The system was still talking in his mind.

“Why do you have to endure this hardship? There are so many skill cards in the mall.”

“Isn’t it tiring to practice for so long?”

“Although you haven’t earned any points yet, I can allow you to go into debt.”

“Don’t you really want it? Even if you perform poorly with the equipment, you can still get some rewards.”

Jiang Shi completely ignored the system’s voice.

The system had said these things yesterday, and in fact, it was about to give up persuading Jiang Shi to use points.

It stopped, cursing without any reservations: “You won’t take advantage of any benefits, you fool!”

This time, Jiang Shi replied to it. He gasped with his hands on his knees and said to the system: “To me, those things are not cheap. Why should I rely on those elusive things that can be achieved through hard work?”

The system was too lazy to argue anymore.

Take it or leave it, just go and complete the task.

Soon, the recording of the program “Dazzling Star” officially began.

The stage of this program was very large and had a strong sense of design. It could be divided into multiple small stages or combined into one large stage.

As soon as Bian Yi was cued in by the host, he noticed this distinctive stage at first sight after entering.

Before this, he had never watched this show. He was an actor and had no relation to this stage. Gou Xi also did not participate.

Bian Yi also didn’t have much interest in this type of show. He preferred adventure shows and some high-quality movies.

There was a rehearsal last night, but Bian Yi was only a special guest and didn’t play any substantial role. He was just there to join in the fun, so there was no need for him to participate.

He walked up to the host’s position and greeted the audience below, saying a few common phrases such as “I’m looking forward to their performance” before following the host’s instructions and sitting in his assigned seat.

His seat was next to the judges, and he could definitely say that it was the best view.

After the judges had all taken their seats, the first contestant quickly came up.

The pace of the whole show was tight, and the host didn’t waste any time with unnecessary talk. The judges were also normal people, and there were no operations that Bian Yi couldn’t understand.

Although it was the first round, even in the first round, Bian Yi could feel the professionalism of the stage, and he could also feel the nervousness of the contestants – they were all participating in this show for the first time, and probably didn’t expect the atmosphere at the scene to be so serious.

Bian Yi waited for a long time before Jiang Shi came on stage.

One of the judges next to Bian Yi knew that he and Jiang Shi had participated in a variety show together, so he turned to ask Bian Yi what his impression of Jiang Shi was like.

Just then, Jiang Shi on stage also looked over at Bian Yi.

Bian Yi looked into his eyes, holding the microphone in his hand, and replied, “Lively and cute like a little koi in the river, and as hard as a stone on the riverbank.”

“I’m looking forward to his performance.”

The lights dimmed, and only Jiang Shi was left on the stage.

Bian Yi’s face was smiling, but his eyes did not reflect any joy.

Jiang Shi was acting strange, very strange.

When he looked at him earlier, there was a hint of determination in his eyes.

And Jiang Shi’s performance that followed only confirmed Bian Yi’s suspicion.

Jiang Shi’s act was a story, and in Bian Yi’s eyes, he performed better than any other contestant that night.

The protagonist in the story was trapped in a dire situation. He had a way out, but it would harm others. He struggled, resisted, and didn’t want to take that path, but he also didn’t want to be trapped in that situation forever.

So, he picked up a knife and ended his own life.

Jiang Shi inserted the prop knife into his heart.

Bian Yi suddenly stood up and fumbled for his phone in his pocket, looking panicked.

The audience behind him, the judges beside him, and the host at the side of the stage all looked at him in astonishment.

The judge who had spoken to him earlier pulled him aside and reassured him, “Mr. Bian, don’t worry, Jiang Shi is just acting.”

The other judges also whispered, “It’s just an act.”

They all knew about Bian Yi’s past and thought that his emotional outburst was due to his own experience.

Bian Yi’s fingers moved away from the speed dial button. He looked at Jiang Shi, who had stood up and bowed in his direction.

Bian Yi also picked up the microphone and said, with an embarrassed smile, “Sorry, I got too excited.”

His eyes moved away from Jiang Shi, and there was still no smile in them.

Jiang Shi, this silly child.

To him, was freedom more important than life?

Fortunately, he knew how to ask for help and didn’t do anything stupid.

To solve problems, one must live.
