A Huge Display (1)

The morning announcements for every Monday were always different and it would usually take up half of exercise time.

In the end, there was nothing to be done about it. The announcements included weekly news, criticism by name, and a warning from the Dean of the Educational Administration Department. In fact, the Dean wanted to get all of that out of the way at this time. If there was a lot to discuss that day, then every segment needed to be adjusted accordingly in order to make room for the other sections.

And this week, the criticism announcement was incredibly crowded.

The voice of the Dean of the Educational Administration Department through the loudspeaker was as loud as a bell and resonated across Experimental No. 3’s big sports field.

“The sophomore year Honors Class’ Qin Yuan and Fu Songhua, sophomore year Class 9’s Ruan Qingmu, Liu Jun, and Li Zhiyong; the several students mentioned above fought during the physical education class and have proved to be a bad influence. Given that this is their first offense, there aren’t any grave consequences this time. They will be criticized by name and won’t have to undergo any disciplinary punishments. I hope that the students that I have named won’t repeat the same mistakes. Other students should also take this as a warning, strictly keep this in mind, and absolutely avoid committing the same mistake in the future!”

“Wow!” There was a buzz coming from the crowd of students on the sports field.

Fuck, so amazing. He had announced the names of three class officials all at once – Oh, wrong. Liu Jun had been removed; he was the former class representative.

However, this was also something unprecedented in history as the first one being called happened to be the big top student, ‘Three Good Student’ Qin Yuan!

Besides Qin Yuan, Fu Songhua also frequently got the ‘Three Good Student’ award and his grades never fell from the top ten during the whole year; he was also a God when it came to sports.

Just moments ago, Qin Yuan stood straight in front of the raising national flag and Fu Songhua led the exercises on the central podium with a smug appearance.

The neighboring classes’ students stretched their heads one by one and turned to look at the line of Class 1 and Class 9’s students.

Qin Yuan calmly stood in the crowd as if he didn’t hear anything. He stood tall as usual with a grave and stern expression on his face.

Besides him, Fu Songhua was the only one not ashamed. Taking advantage of the fact that the teacher at the side didn’t pay any attention to him, he quickly extended his hand and cupped his hand in salute to the peeking students all around; his expression seemed to be particularly arrogant.

On the other side of the sports field in Class 9’s line, Liu Jun and Li Zhiyong’s faces were a bright red. They hatefully turned their heads away and focused their gaze on the school building in the distance.

They were the ones receiving criticism here, but someone who was pretending to be disabled hid in the classroom and didn’t need to parade around here shamefully!

The loudspeaker continued to blare the announcement, “Next, we will announce the result of the blackboard evaluation for the first term. The art teacher chose five extracurricular art members last night. After a careful evaluation and voting process, they’ve come out with the top three in every grade. They are –”

The rustling sound of paper being unfolded came through the loudspeaker. “The senior year: Third place goes to Liberal Arts Class 2…”

This class regularly placed in all the blackboard evaluation events. The students all around weren’t surprised and stood there while lazily listening.

“The top three in the sophomore year. Third place goes to Science Honors Class 1. The second place, Liberal arts Class 2.” The Dean of the Teaching Department paused and suddenly raised his voice.

“Next, I would like to praise the first place winners. This is the very first time this class has received such a high achievement. The theme is new and original, and the shape is lively; the artwork garnered such great glowing compliments from the art teacher! I also hope that they will persist in the future and maintain their good results – The winners of first place goes to the sophomore year Science Class 9!”

The serene sports field was suddenly in an uproar. The students applauded while looking at Class 9 – Aiyo, the sun had risen from the west*.

*T/N: A metaphor for something impossible.

This class never got any praises on any previous bulletin evaluations before and in fact, they would do moderately well. How did they suddenly soar up to the sky?

Class 9’s former publicity representative, Liu Siyuan, stood in the liberal arts class line and her face turned beet red. They never got any rank when she was still a student there. Now that she was gone, her former class got first place. Didn’t that mean she occupied the position but couldn’t get any results…

After the morning exercises, her best friend felt indignant. “I didn’t expect Niu Xiaoqing to hide such a skill. She is truly insidious.”

Liu Siyuan looked at the classmates passing by in the distance; the tears in her pair of pretty big eyes nearly falling.

What did this mean? She was obviously diligent before too!

Ruan Qingmu lazily leaned on the desk and listened to the announcements. Suddenly, a round of chaotic running footsteps sounded in the corridor.

Class 9’s doorway and windows were instantly full of heads. Each of them curiously looked at the blackboard in the back.

“Wow –”

“Oh!”

“I’ve never seen something like this. It’s a bit cool!”

The general class blackboard would usually follow the same pattern, mainly with flowers and plants with characters to complement the picture and some drawings of dragons in the sky. The main sentence that would usually be an inspirational heading about education would be placed in the middle, such as “The Blooming Youth” or “New Semester, New Atmosphere,” etc.

They only needed to pay particular attention to some things, such as not using color chalks to draw, using the watercolor paint recommended by the art teacher, and drawing something slightly different; that in itself would already be considered something quite rare.

But what was the fucking drawing on the blackboard in the back of Class 9?

The entire blackboard was filled with Chinese freehand-style landscape paintings!
