Memories (2)

The external teacher invigilating the exam finished passing the exam papers to the students and strictly spoke from the podium. “Hurry up and write your name and student number. We will start to play the listening audio after three minutes. Keep quiet!”

The students quickly wrote their names down on their exams. After a while, the small speakers inside the classroom started to broadcast the English audio.

Everyone pricked their ears and tried their best to identify the words, whether they didn’t understand or only half-understood it. Unconsciously, several minutes had passed in this way.

The sophomore year’s corridor was quiet and only the English audio uniformly came out of each classroom.

Ruan Qingmu held his school bag and ran upstairs in one breath.

As he ran to the side of the classroom’s window, his footsteps startled several students sitting beside the window and they involuntarily looked in his direction.

When Ruan Qingmu met their gazes, he suddenly halted in his steps.

The invigilator inside the door saw him, frowned, silently made a gesture of “Be quiet!” and pointed at the back of the classroom, making a gesture signaling for him to go quickly to his seat”

He was actually seven or eight minutes late. Did he still want to take the exam?

Ruan Qingmu, who was still in the doorway, didn’t enter the room. He lightened his footsteps and quietly retreated to the corridor, leaning back against the wall.

The invigilator felt a bit strange and tiptoed to the doorway, revealing a questioning look on his face. Ruan Qingmu looked at him, pointed at the students listening to the questions in boredom, and waved his hand.

The invigilator froze and understood his meaning.

He was afraid that he would affect others in completing their exams if he entered the classroom, took his exam paper, and walked to the last row. Although he was an underachiever, it still did not make him inconsiderate.

When the audio from the small speakers finished speaking, Ruan Qingmu finally entered the classroom, grabbed his exam paper, and sat down in his seat.

Many students inside the classroom looked at him in astonishment, feeling a little lost. He dared to be late on the monthly exam and missed out on all the listening questions?!

Not long after that, Fang Li stealthily leaned backward and threw a small paper in his hand.

Ruan Qingmu quickly did the questions and he froze upon seeing the piece of paper. When he unfolded it, he couldn’t help raising his eyebrows.

It was all the answers to the listening questions written in crooked words. There wasn’t a sign on it, but it wasn’t from Fang Li.

Huang Ya, who sat on his oblique front, proudly winked at him when Ruan Qingmu raised his head again.

Ruan Qingmu couldn’t help but laugh a little. He silently mouthed a “fuck” and gave a thumbs up to Huang Ya.

Afterward, he tore the paper and threw it away.

In the front, Huang Ya’s smile froze on his lips. Liu Jun, who was secretly watching and was about to report the cheating to the teacher, was also dumbfounded.

Huang Ya helplessly turned back. The hell! Ruan-ge even ignored the cheatsheet he gave him! Even though he was not the top student, didn’t he still listen to the whole audio? It was at least better than not to have heard anything at all.

The bell finally rang and the papers were passed to the front.

Bai Jing and the others quickly rushed to the back. “Ruan-ge, want to go to the bathroom together?”

Ruan Qingmu stood up and walked with them to the bathroom.

The next exam was also for two hours and they couldn’t go to the bathroom midway.

Huang Ya bitterly asked, “Ruan-ge, why wouldn’t you look at my answers? I felt I excelled in the exam this time.”

Ruan Qingmu walked into the bathroom and looked for a urinal. “I felt it was more reliable to select C for all questions.”

“Ruan-ge, you’re breaking my heart by saying this!”

Bai Jing, who was beside them, asked. “Ruan-ge, why are you late for the monthly exam? You were also absent during the morning exercise.”

Ruan Qingmu let out a big yawn. The sleep-induced tears inside his eyes poured out and he sleepily said, “Mm, I woke up late.”

After helping the little mute take a bath yesterday, Xiao-Yun held onto her brother and was reluctant to part with him. After a long while, she finally sent the little mute into his room.

After that, she still felt guilty and grateful and she continued to cry and thank Ruan Qingmu for a long time. When he could finally sleep, it was almost two o’clock in the morning.

Once he slept, he was doomed. He thought his mother would wake him up in the morning while Mu Wanli thought he had already set his own alarm.

First of all, she was equally tired. Secondly, their ‘Beautiful Blind Massage’ store never opened in the morning and they didn’t have the habit of waking up early. When he woke up, the sky was already bright and it was already past seven o’clock.

Ruan Qingmu didn’t even have the time to eat a warm meal. He grabbed his school bag, ran outside, randomly bought breakfast at the alley entrance, and hurriedly called a taxi.

With traffic jams on the way, the exam had already started when he arrived at Experimental No. 3 High School.

Huang Ya rushed to say, “Aiyo, those several people from the disciplinary committee were extremely strict. Qin Yuan was even sharper. After taking a glance, he asked why were you not here?”

Ruan Qingmu was silent for a while. “He asked for me?”

“That’s right, ah. He has already asked several times.” Huang Ya slapped his thigh. “I thought that since our two classes were already so close and you guys were card partners, that he would  help cover you!”

Ruan Qingmu modestly answered. “That’s normal. Could he not have pointed that out with so many people watching?”

It would be weird if he publicly showed favoritism.
