The Boss’ Loyalty (3)

Weird. What happened to this guy today? Why did his gaze at Qin Yuan look fishy?

The waiter’s loud voice suddenly came up again. “The vegetable skewers are here! Enoki mushroom, roasted rice cake, fish cake, roasted oyster mushroom.”

Fu Songhua moved closer and straightly took the plate over, turning to hand it in front of Fang Li. “What do you want to eat? Pick several skewers first.”

Fang Li took one roasted oyster mushroom skewer and whispered, “That’s enough. Hurry and give it to the others.”

Fu Songhua unceremoniously said, “Your class is like the reincarnation of starving ghosts. The dishes will be gone once it’s placed on the table. After this, you won’t be able to snatch anything else, okay?”

Huang Ya’s mouth was full of oil. “Pick, pick. Fang Li, you should choose first! You’re the great hero in our Class 9, getting so many points. You even get two broadcast drafts for yourself.”

Fu Songhua’s face almost turned green*.

*T/N: Green face symbolizes courage, tyranny, fierce, irritable (in this context, Fu Songhua’s face almost became irritated.)

Two pieces of articles were only worth two points. He would never have imagined that their overall scores would come to light today.

Fu Songhua resentfully poured a full cup for Ruan Qingmu and said to him, “Here. Here. Let’s have a toast between us, two sports representatives.”

Ruan Qingmu squinted at him and let out a “heh.” “Defeated general*, I’ll drink half a cup and you can drink one full cup.”

*T/N: Defeated general: someone who was defeated by himself.

“Enough!” Fu Songhua couldn’t help but say, “Your class could win because our Boss helped you…”

Qin Yuan, who had been silently sitting, suddenly raised his head and calmly looked at him. His gaze was very sharp at this time.

Fu Songhua went silent and angrily shut his mouth.

He meant that the class monitor helped Ruan Qingmu kick the obstacle, but Ruan Qingmu didn’t know of this. He looked at him in suspicion, then at Qin Yuan.

Qin Yuan lowered his head and took a bite of the grilled fish that had just come out, refinedly spitting out the fishbone. Looking from the side, his handsome, straight nose bridge and eyebrows were as cool as distant mountains.

Bai Jing suddenly stood up eagerly at the side, lifting his cup again. “Boss, thank you. I thank you on behalf of our Class 9!”

Ruan Qingmu looked at him and suddenly reached out to drag him. “Go. Come to the bathroom with me.”

Cramming inside the boy’s bathroom in the small restaurant, Ruan Qingmu closed the door. “What happened to you?”

Bai jing sighed. “Ruan-ge, promise me one thing first. After looking, don’t rush out to hit people.”

Ruan Qingmu’s slightly red face from being tipsy became cold right then.

He glared at Bai Jing. “I won’t guarantee it.”

Bai Jing was helpless and silently took out his phone, clicking open a video. “Ruan-ge, at least finish your meal before you have a fit. Don’t ruin our party’s atmosphere, okay?”

On the shaky screen, several girls’ soft giggles could be heard. They were obviously the people recording the video. “Both of them are so handsome. One black and one white overtaking each other… Ah, they’re going to sprint!”

Some people in front of the person recording the video suddenly swayed. The viewer had no idea who bumped against her, but her screen suddenly shifted down.

Lin Hua bent down just a few steps away and his face surprisingly came out on the screen. He raised his head and threw the cola can in his hand.

Not a slip of the hand, not dropping. It was clearly seen that he had thrown it.

Looking from this angle, the position of that cola can wasn’t toward Qin Yuan’s track but his.

… A pair of long legs suddenly appeared on the camera from the gap between the crowd, abruptly speeding up and kicking that cola can hard off the field. Then, it swayed for a while before falling hard.

Ruan Qingmu closed his eyes before opening them again after a long time.

He looked at the video again, saying in a calm voice, “Where did it come from?”

Bai Jing whispered, “During your competition, many junior-year girls came to watch you guys race and crammed in toward the back. I went to the junior year’s group and asked if anyone had a recording of the event today, saying there would be a reward. In the end… a primary student who was a girl contacted me.”

Ruan Qingmu nodded. “How much is it? I’ll give it to you.”

Bai Jing hastily waved his hand around. “No. No. The primary student didn’t want any money. She said she liked the two of you.”

He didn’t know why but when that younger sister said she liked the two of them a lot, her expression was strange, looking shy and mysterious.

Ruan Qingmu reached out and forwarded that video to himself. Standing beside the sink, he suddenly asked, “Oh right. Tell me, if he didn’t come up to kick that thing for me, between me and him… who would be in first place?”

Bai Jing sincerely sighed. “Ruan-ge, I genuinely don’t know. I feel there’s not much difference between the two of you. Anyone of you could’ve been the winner.”

Ruan Qingmu was dazed for a while. “Oh.”

“But I’ve mulled it over. If Boss Qin is the winner, there would be four points difference between them and us with the calculation. Adding one point with this event’s broadcast draft, you see –”

Ruan Qingmu smiled. “Understood. Our class would lose.”

“Right…”

Ruan Qingmu lazily raised his head to size him up. “So, you were incessantly attentive to him for the whole night?”

Bai Jing embarrassedly scratched his head. “Yeah! The Boss is the boss after all, so loyal. It’s no wonder everyone in their class obeys him. I’m feeling moved, really.”

After thinking for a while, he whispered again, “Did Fu Songhua want to mention t his just now? Boss Qin didn’t even let him say it… He’s a living Lei Feng*.”

*T/N: A living Lei Feng means someone is like Lei Feng, who is willing to help others without expecting anything in return; describing someone who is kind and helpful.

Ruan Qingmu silently laughed. There was a strange pride in his dark eyes. “Yes, ah. He’s a nice guy*.”

*T/N: A guy who always thinks too much about others and ignores their own self-interests.

Bai Jing was unhappy. “Who’s a nice guy? He’s usually cold like an iceberg. I see he’s only good toward you… our class sports representative!”

Ruan Qingmu quietly stood on the spot. He suddenly turned on the faucet and splashed a handful of water onto his face. When he looked up again, the smile was gone from his peach blossom eyes, looking gloomy and harsh.

Bai Jing took a look at him, heart jumping, and hurried to say, “Ruan-ge, there are several little brothers always around Lin Hua. If you have an idea, let’s go at it together!”

Ruan Qingmu straightly cut him off. “Shut up.”

He grabbed Bai Jing’s collar, his dark eyes looking like there were floating fragments of ice in them. “Listen well to me. This is my matter.”

My matter alone.
