You’re Nicer to Me (2)

Ruan Qingmu flagged a taxi at the alley entrance, taking the little mute with him to go to Qin Yuan’s house.

He gave the address given by Qin Yuan to the driver and the vehicle drove away. The little mute was shocked and curious as he leaned on the window, looking around outside.

The taxi arrived at Qin Yuan’s business district entrance and came to a stop right in front.

Ruan Qingmu struggled to get out of the vehicle, holding crutches in his left hand, a lunch box, and the braised beef in his right hand, with his school bag slung behind his body. The little mute blindly followed behind him and clutched the back of his jacket.

He looked at the white roman pillar in the luxurious district and clicked his tongue at the richness of the area. It was indeed a far cry from his house’s small, rundown alley.

He approached the security office and politely knocked on the window. “Hello, I…”

“Hey, right over here.” A voice sounded from not far away.

Ruan Qingmu turned his head in shock.

Inside the vast district, there was a large green belt of grass on the front side. The evergreen lawn was dotted with dark-green neatly trimmed bushes with small, unknown beige flowers on top.

There was a beautiful fountain in front of the lawn, with crystal water droplets that rose high above the ground and fell. Beside the water fountain, Qin Yuan stood quietly, wearing a flowy and casual dark blue sweater and looking toward the front entrance.

An outstanding boy with a handsome face with the sun shining down on him.

Ruan Qingmu was dazed for a moment before taking the little mute to run over. “You didn’t have to come down here to greet us. We could’ve found your house on our own.”

Qin Yuan faintly smiled for a moment. “It’s really boring in the house with nothing to do. I came down to throw the garbage and decided to wait here for you after I was done with that.”

A smartly-dressed grandpa at the side brought his little grandson to play by the water fountain, warmly inserting himself in the conversation after hearing that. “Young man, did you just move here? There is a special rubbish passage behind the stairs. You don’t need to come all the way down here!”

Qin Yuan: “…”

Ruan Qingmu: “…”

Qin Yuan’s handsome face was stretched taut. He suddenly came to his senses after seeing the little boy behind Ruan Qingmu. “This is the little mute you mentioned last time?”

This person had stood him up once because of him. He would never forget that.

Ruan Qingmu was flustered and handed the crutches to him. He finally got his hands free and dragged the little mute from behind, gesturing, “Look, a big brother!”

The little mute raised his head and glanced at Qin Yuan before suddenly turning away and frowning. He hid his face between the seam of Ruan Qingmu’s legs and didn’t bother to look at Qin Yuan anymore.

Ruan Qingmu clicked his tongue and stared at his on-guard expression, whispering to himself, “Sure enough, you don’t like him, don’t you?”

He sighed, pointing his finger at the little guy. “He’s deaf. He can’t hear, so he can’t speak either. He can’t call out to others.”

Qin Yuan looked at the little mute. “Has he been like this since he was little?”

Ruan Qingmu walked alongside him inside the district, one hand holding Xiao-Zhuang’s. “Yes, ah. He’s born like this. The villagers didn’t pay attention to these things. It was already quite late when they realized he had a handicap.”

Qin Yuan carefully looked at Xiao-Zhuang, seeing the old wounds on the child’s arms. He recalled the matter Ruan Qingmu told him last time and his brows slightly rose due to anger. “Nobody thought to report the child abuse?”

“Someone did, ah. Someone told his sister and my mom found people to take him back from his hometown. He lives in my house now.”

Qin Yuan silently looked at the little mute again.

The little mute stumbled on his feet as he followed behind the two people and happened to raise his head, seeing Qin Yuan staring down at him at this time.

The two people’s eyes met, one big and one small. The little mute wrinkled his nose and actively turned his head away again.

Ruan Qingmu faintly looked, watching Qin Yuan’s expression from the side. “I’m asking you, ah. Do you feel he looks familiar?”

Qin Yuan was stunned. “… Should I know him?”

Ruan Qingmu smiled, not saying anything.

When he returned to the school, this person also seemed to have asked this question when he met him for the first time in the corridor. “Should I know you?”

As expected, he didn’t remember anything anymore.

He didn’t even remember him and couldn’t possibly remember the little attendant beside him.

But he thought it would be a little different. After all, the little attendant suddenly was able to speak again with a husky voice after he died in his previous life when he saw Qin Yuan traveling from afar with a sword in his hands.

Obviously, he had lost his voice for so long and deeply hated Qin Yuan, who had been hunting him, but this child could actually tell who was this person who wanted to do his benefactor harm.

Honestly speaking, when his soul drifted around after he died and he saw this child stuttering through tears to explain everything, he could only feel annoyed in his heart.

All those things he didn’t care to explain and all the pride he was so proud to uphold were suddenly poured out by someone. He didn’t feel happy at all when he saw Qin Yuan’s stupefied and sad expression.

He would rather that this righteous Shaoxia was like the others, believing that he was ruthless and deserved to die. At most, he would sigh and lament a few times or think about him in passing on a moonlit night and go on with his promising life.

He absolutely didn’t want him to confront those people for him and fight for his life. In the end, one life was exchanged for six lives.

It would be fine if he died alone. There was no need to take another person’s life with him.
