Chapter 69 - 69 A Visit

69 A Visit

The Spring Festival was approaching, and the New Year’s atmosphere was getting more intense. Qu Zhi planned to start preparing New Year’s goods, so she would go shopping during the weekends to avoid being too rushed in her preparations.

Liu Hui walked with her, pushing Sisi’s cart with one hand and holding Chuchu’s hand with the other. She and Qu Zhi chatted and laughed along the way, looking like a mother and daughter.

Qu Zhi first bought a new set of clothes for Chuchu before looking at Sisi’s clothes.

Chuchu was elated. Liu Hui even bought her a new doll! She said it was a gift for her. At first, Qu Zhi felt embarrassed and felt that it wasn’t appropriate to let the housekeeper buy things. However, she soon realized that it was inappropriate not to accept the gift now. The two children had long treated Liu Hui as their grandmother, and she herself also treated Liu Hui as family.

Looking at Chuchu’s glowing face and the loving Liu Hui, Qu Zhi endured it and didn’t say anything.

“Thank you, Grandma!” Chuchu stuck to Liu Hui like a little tail and was extremely excited.

When she was choosing clothes for Sisi, Liu Hui also gave her an idea. She didn’t want any material that wasn’t good or soft. Liu Hui even tried to bargain for Qu Zhi, but she couldn’t persuade her no matter what. She said that these clothes would not be able to sell for half the price in her hometown. How could they be so expensive in Jiang City?

The two of them strolled around. Seeing that the sky was getting dark, they still felt that there were things that they had not finished buying.

Chuchu’s legs were sore after walking for a whole day, so she followed the two of them slowly.

“Is our Chuchu tired?” Liu Hui bent down and looked at her with a smile. “Come, let grandma carry you.”

Qu Zhi was stunned.

Liu Hui was so skinny, but she could actually carry Chuchu without much effort.

“Ah, Aunt Hui, you don’t have to carry Chuchu. She can walk on her own.” Qu Zhi was afraid that Liu Hui would not be able to bear her weight. Although Chuchu wasn’t fat, she still had some weight. She knew it best in her heart.

However, Liu Hui shook her head at her. “The child has been walking all day. She’s tired. She patted Chuchu’s back gently. Grandma is very strong. Grandma is a Hercules, right, Chuchu?”

Chuchu giggled as she lay in Liu Hui’s arms. Indeed, Liu Hui was hugging her very steadily, just like the Hercules in the cartoon. Her legs were not sore at all now!

They took their bags and hailed a taxi, talking and laughing along the way back.

Liu Hui was good at telling stories. Whenever she told Chuchu about the silly things her daughter had done when she was young, she would laugh until tears rolled down her face.

In the end, when she arrived at the corridor of her house, Qu Zhi found someone standing at the entrance of her house. That person was very thin and small and just squatted at the door.

When she turned on the lights in the corridor, Qu Zhi finally recognized her.

Isn’t this Huang Qing?

She didn’t even say a word before coming.

The old lady’s eyes were bloodshot when she saw Qu Zhi. She used her bloodshot and lifeless eyes to stare at Qu Zhi for a long time, but she didn’t say a word, as if she wanted to identify her.

“Grandma…” Chuchu grabbed the corner of Liu Hui’s clothes and hid behind her.

“Hey, hey, Grandma is here!” Huang Qing immediately leaned over, the wrinkles on her face wrinkled, and she looked like grandmother wolf!

Chuchu retreated. Liu Hui protected behind her.

“Who are you?” Liu Hui sized up this strange old lady and then looked at Qu Zhi. It seemed like Qu Zhi wasn’t very familiar with her.

“I’m Qu Zhi’s mother!” Huang Qing stood up, a proud smile on her face.

“What are you doing here?” Qu Zhi didn’t even look at her. He was thinking about how to send Huang Qing back.

“Oh, I’m here to see you…”

“What’s there to see about me?” Qu Zhi opened the door and let Liu Hui bring Chuchu and Sisi in before closing the door.

“Look, you bought so many things, but Mom and Brother have nothing. Isn’t that too bad?” Huang Qing gritted her teeth as she said this. However, she knew very well that she couldn’t use vulgar words, and couldn’t control Qu Zhi anymore.

“Yes, it’s my fault.” Qu Zhi agreed with a smile.

“Yes… but we can’t go empty-handed.” Huang Qing was a little scared, afraid that she had gone too far. Qu Zhi crossed her arms and looked at her, not looking like she was easy to bully.

She was asking for money again. Of course, Qu Zhi knew.

She stuffed a large bag of stir-fried food she had just bought into Huang Qing’s arms. They had just bought it today, and it was originally used to entertain guests, so it was not impossible to give it to Huang Qing.

“It’s not empty now. Please go back. We’re going to sleep.”

Huang Qing hugged the large bag of stir-fried food and watched as Qu Zhi closed the door.
