Chapter 35.2

Chapter 35 – Part 2

I looked at Frey again and stopped Lisandro, who was rushing to the giggling Frey.

I didn’t know if this should be all right, though I didn’t feel any sense of discomfort, let alone hatred, even though Lisandro was this close. I didn’t even notice that until now. I couldn’t imagine how well he managed his expression and endured it.

I told him that I wanted to go to the place where I met Regina, so Frey allowed it, but Lisandro caught up again.

…I’m sorry to tell him lies, but wouldn’t he go after me if I told you the truth?

What should I do?

Well, let’s ask Frey first… After picking the right words that Lisandro wouldn’t understand so that only Frey could, I opened my mouth.

“I would like to go back for some recuperation. What do you think, Frey?”

I took my eyes off the book and look at him, taking a glance at Lisandro. Frey exclaimed softly and opened his mouth when he noticed me winking.

“I would love to. The air is nice there.”

Okay, I got it.

That was probably where Regina was before our return.

“Noonim is going to recuperate? Are you sick? Do you want me to go with you…?”

“No, no.”

I stopped him at once and waved my hand.

Since Frey had to go, I had to ask my mother to approve my plan. Of course, I had to stovepipe the temple as well.

[ T/N: Stovepipe = tell lies ]

After everything went smoothly as planned, I decided that I was going to confess to Lisandro that I was actually going on a short trip with Frey.

Even though I could lie, he would doubt it if Frey disappeared with me. There was no way he wouldn’t be able to predict that I went on a trip together with Frey. In addition, he would check the villa with that personality of his and see if I was there.

Instead of making that aftermath, I would tell him that I was going on a trip with Frey.

While the reason for the trip was a secret, I would make Lisandro left out of it as much as possible. That way, it will be easier to talk. I didn’t know if that stubborn man would be obedient.

“It’s because of them, right?”

“Huh?”

“Those b*stards who spread the rumors that noonim is possessed by an evil spirit.”

There really wasn’t a single thing that I found out from the commoners who had been captured. He said that he punished and imprisoned them because he couldn’t even get a small clue. Since they said that they would respond strongly, there was a probability that such rumors would circulate again if they were let out without receiving punishment.

To be honest, speaking out wasn’t a crime. The more you blocked a rumor, the more likely it would spread. Locking and punishing them may look like the tyranny of the upper classes, though those people agreed with this punishment as they were on the verge of being burned at the stake as witches.

When I woke up in the temple, the people who felt sorry for a long time were just keeping their mouths shut.

“Do you think I was shocked by that rumor?”

I could be hurt and lied that I was going on a trip with Frey, but from Lisandro’s point of view, he couldn’t understand why I was going on a trip with Frey instead of him.

Rather, I was going to tell him that I didn’t want to see the people, so I went on a trip to get some air. So, he had to figure out how and why I was going with Frey. We would pretend to go separately and meet in the middle.

Since the knights would be coming as well, even if it was not much, I also needed to have personal safety –even if I was with a great saint Frey, who had a contract with the King of Spirits. Even though I have Tino, a divine beast, he was stay-at-home. It would immediately appear when I pray, and there might be a dangerous situation where it might be impossible for me even to pray.

The knights were usually kept one step away behind us, so it was highly likely they didn’t understand what we were talking about. They wouldn’t ask even if they were curious.

However, Lisandro was different. If we whispered, there was a high possibility that he would rush to us.

“It’s not.”

You’re adamant.

“Then, why did you say you’re going to recuperate? And, to him?”

“I was just asking him if he happened to know a place with good air and good water because he’s a spiritual saint.”

“Hmm.”

What do you think I am supposed to do when you look at me with doubtful eyes? It’s not like you can read my mind.

I snorted at Lisandro, who was pretending to be sharp and turned my head.

“If you are going, take me with you.”

“Where?”

“You’re going somewhere, aren’t you?”

I asked, tilting my head before continuing, “I never said I was going anywhere.”

“Noonim isn’t the kind of person to make a sound. I will follow you no matter what.”

“Am I a child? What will you follow me for?”

He shrugged his shoulders and grinned, though it annoyed me when he warned me that he would be following us.

“I am a child, noonim.”

“If you are a child, stay at home.”

“I am a child who can’t live without noonim.”

“Can I hit you once? You can think of this as self-defense.”

It was cute when he followed after me when he was a child, but he couldn’t be cute when a fierce-looking bear was chasing after me. I didn’t know if he knew he was cute but scary with his crazy build.
