Chapter 5 Status (1)

Ethan woke from a deep sleep, his eyes bleary but filled with anticipation. He told Nyx to show him the screen, excitement building in his chest at the thought of the interesting suggestion Nyx had made before he went to sleep.

Customization had been made while Ethan slept, and he couldn't wait to see the changes. Nyx had told him that, just like the late Ethan Chase, he could use fragments of Obsidian to make his wishes come true.

If he desired something abstract like luck, it could be increased. Or if he sought self-development, like Ethan Chase had, the fragments would give him the most effective way to achieve it. Nyx herself was also a part of this wish.

The interesting aspect of Nyx's suggestion was that Ethan didn't have to think about what he wanted. Humans had many wishes after all. During his deep sleep, if he allowed, Nyx would be able to sense his deepest wishes and make use of the fragments of Obsidian accordingly. The sense of mystery amused him, but he didn't let it cloud his judgment.

Ethan didn't know how many fragments he had, and according to Nyx, it was unknown how many of them would be consumed for a single wish. Taking his future into consideration, he told Nyx to fulfill at most four wishes.

Ethan finally looked at the system screen, and was pleased with what he saw. Nyx had done a good job in keeping it simple yet good looking. The main page displayed Ethan's stats, a picture of his face, his features sharp and striking.

Ethan had a well-defined jawline and a sharp nose, which gave him a confident and charismatic look. He had snow-white hair that stood out against his pale skin, and his eyes were a vibrant blue that were hard to ignore. His face was attractive and his eyes even more so, drawing one in with their intensity. All of this was prominently displayed on the main page.

The screen also had options to navigate to separate categories, including 'Abilities', 'Harem', 'Tasks', 'Shop', and 'Martial Genius'. Each category was clearly labeled and easy to access, making navigation smooth and straightforward.

The font used for the text was clear and easy to read, and the overall design was visually pleasing. Ethan felt satisfied with the simplicity and functionality of the status screen. Then Ethan focused on the numbers in front of him.

Ethan glanced around and saw Sasha present doing something on her phone, her legs crossed as she sat on a chair nearby. Sensing his gaze, she looked up and smiled. He smiled in return and shook his head, indicating he doesn't need anything. She nodded and went back to focusing on her phone.

Ethan gazed at her sexy legs for a few moments before closing his eyes again. He told Nyx to explain the things on the status window from top to bottom, except the name, title, level, and health.

[Okay!] Nyx replied, a hint of enthusiasm in her voice.

[To understand arcane points, you need to first know about astral energy. Astral energy is the lifeforce in all matter. As such it is present everywhere. You don't have to know more about this for now as it is complex and currently unneeded.

All you have to know is that everything absorbs Astral energy from the surrounding to produce arcane. The arcane thus produced is basically an energy that can be used in many ways like for example cells power its metabolism using this energy. The system has converted a certain amount of arcane into arcane points for you to use. As for the exact amount, i don't think you will want to know that but if you do, then do tell me.]

'Yup, I don't need such details.' He didn't expect the stats to be so interesting. At first he was a bit biased, thinking that it would be just those typical stupid game-like stats.

[Stress and charm doesn't need to be explained as their meaning is obvious. But I want to tell you that the high charm is one of your wishes. At first the charm was around 30. The key point is that with one of your new abilities, you can increase your charm to a whopping 100. You will understand more later when you view the abilities.]

Well it wasn't that big of a surprise that he wanted to be charming. In his past life, he was fit and all. That was cool but his appearance was a bit… ferocious looking. That was what his friends used to say to tease him. Of course they received a nice beating after that.

He suddenly missed them. But he knew that wherever they were, they would still be goofing around and being idiots like they were. They would live on. He also had to do the same. Not like they could meet again. He had to live on and not repeat what he regretted.

He took a deep breath and asked, 'Charm was 30 just because of my appearance?'

Nyx suddenly said, [I also have a wish.]

'Huh?' Ethan was a bit surprised.

Ethan suddenly had a feeling that he shouldn't look at the 'prices' of 'products' in the shop category.
