Chapter 249

249 The surprise visitors

“And even if you went back, do you think Viscount Demel Blackheart will let you search for your lady as if it’s another day?”

“If you, who he believes to have become as his most trusted men’s slave, suddenly appeared before him without being in chains or at least a salve, what power do you possess to fight your way out of the mansion and report what happened?”

*Sigh...* “You don’t even have class.” Vincent stated the harsh truth he thought off after reading many stories of betrayals. He believed his explanation contained more than truth than lies.

Maid Xu became shocked. She didn’t know how her name was revealed to Vincent, nor did she ever mention being classless. Maid Xu became worried because Vincent didn’t look like a mage. Thus, he shouldn’t know about this information without external help such as items.

As second after the other passed, Maid Xu realized how Vincent’s words made a lot of sense. She was powerless, and only a horrible life or death awaited her.

The fear-stricken maid fell on her knees and started crying. It seemed Maid Xu wanted someone to say the negative things she tried to ignore out loud and begin to believe how horrible the situation had become.

[My, my, what a savage man you are. However, This maid needs to learn not to ignore the dangers of this matter and face the truth. She can’t keep charging headfirst and forget of the uncertainties around her.]

“Stop crying and get up!” Vincent angrily exclaimed.

[Huh? What are you going to do to this poor maid?]

.....

“Get up, collect yourself, grab a stick and start drawing the layout of the mansion. Draw all the floors and the location where the guards like to stay guard as well. ” Vincent suddenly ordered with a glint of bloodlust in his eyes.

Maid Xu looked at Vincent with a pair of hopeful eyes. “Sir Vincent, will you rescue my lady? If so... please take her with you. And, and... you don’t have to worry about my lady and me tagging along. We won’t interrupt your time with your women.” She requested.

[Vincent. Don’t tell me you plan to gain two new women in our... ahem, your harem? And I thought you wanted to...]

“I will kill Viscount Demel Blackheart and make your lady a widow. She won’t have to worry about her husband ever again.” Vincent said with bloodthirsty conviction.

Ester and Kazumi worryingly gazed at Vincent. They thought about how much Vincent changed after what happened in one day. How he saw many goblins, he knew and saved killed brutally, and how he had killed to people. Although they were inhumane and trash, they were still added to Vincent’s conscious.

[You hotheaded idiot! It would be best if you had a plan like... like. Like poisoning that illegal slave trader by his own hands, or else your name will appear as the murder on the Inspection Gemstone.]

[They will issue a warrant for your arrest, and the Blackhearts might even place a bounty on you. Don’t talk about doing something as dangerous as this.]

-I thought long and hard for an answer, And I found it. Iris can help me make a deadly poison with the red flower.-

[You mean... ]

Maid Xu stared at Vincent. She couldn’t believe what her ears just had heard. She was about to ask if he really meant what he said, but Lupa looked at the forest and asked with her head tilted in confusion, “Goblins?”

“God!”

“God!”

Two child-like voices loudly shouted from behind the cluster of trees, interrupting the flow of the current subject. Shortly, two goblin children appeared. They were frightened and had a couple of scratches on their bodies acquired after an intense long run.

The two goblins saw Ester and ran over to her while holding each other’s hands. “We. Sorry. We. Lost. Human. Cloth.” The two apologized by helping each other say a word each.

“Why are you here? We saw the cloth I gave you two in the hands of a goblin. Iris and I thought you were... passed away.” Ester felt happy and relieved to see the two goblin children Iris considered as rascals because of their curiosity still alive.

Vincent approached and asked, “Why did you stay here after I told everyone to leave because of a situation like this?” Vincent felt relieved.

Vincent checked their age, and it was displayed as two. They should be around eight human years old or slightly above. Vincent went in front of them to hide the unsightly view and patiently waited for an answer.

“Become. Hobgoblin. We. Stay.” They answered with difficulty.

[How about you give them their wish? Tula could use some friends to play with. They might be able to talk without difficulty as well and answer our questions. It should also raise a smile on Iris’s face.]

“Ester, Lupa, do you think? I think Iris would be happy about this.” Vincent asked for input.

Lupa shrugged her shoulders, “I don’t mind. ”

Ester nodded and answered, “We can’t leave them all alone. It’s the only way. I also think Iris would be delighted.”

“There you have it. Overheat.” Vincent activated Overheat with little time left.

Best

Vincent poked his arm with his pointed gauntlet-covered finger. A bead of mutated blood collected in his finger.

“Here, who wants to go first?” Vincent asked.

The male goblin raised his hand and said, “Me. Oldest.”

Vincent smiled at the idea of the oldest protecting the youngest. Vincent lowered to his knee and raised his finger. “It’s hot, but it won’t be hot anymore after you become like Iris.” He tried to reassure the two children.

*Gulp* The male goblin child mustered his courage. He carefully approached his lips and drank the bead of hot mutated blood as quickly as possible.

The goblin’s eyes turned green and a small horn poked out from his forehead at the same side as Iris’s horn. The green skin showed a reddish to a pinkish hue, making the goblin look more human.

The goblin grew a few inches taller, and his hair became dark green. Lastly, the goblin’s facial features changed. The goblin’s face became more human-like and better looking than the previous acceptable-looking goblin child he was.

Vincent, Ester, Lupa, Kazumi, and the female goblin became surprised. Iris took far longer than less than a minute for the change to initiate.

Maid Xu had never seen a goblin awaken before because the Lionhearts never liked to buy or mistreat slaves. However, they have a few slaves working on their property after the slaves themselves asked to change their owners.

The slaves came from a good and kind friend of Leonis Lionheart. His friend has a business with well-treated legal slaves. The slaves his friend employs are mostly low danger criminals that need rehabilitation.

There are very few low-class fallen nobles that his friend tries to give a second chance in life as ordinary workers. And lastly, poor people that are forced to sell themselves to be able to live a better life.

“The strang... the hobgoblin needs clothes. I am the only one who serves my lady, which means I do all the sewing. If you have clothes for the goblin, then I can make them fit one way on another.” Maid Xu said. She immediately took out a needle and a small roll of thread.

“Yahoo! I can talk human good now. Me happy, haha.” The energetic demigoblin said.

Maid Xu almost dropped the needle after hearing the child speak. “Impossible! I heard it takes at least a few months for a hobgoblin to say their first word. How can this newly awakened hobgoblin speak so much and so well? Were they lying?”

“Vincent is the only one in the world who can awaken a goblin into a new race variant he called demigoblin. The horn, the voice, and it seems the eye and hair colors are what makes a demigoblin different than the other variants.” Ester answered as she took out some spare clothes Yula provided at the time Vincent was unconscious in the bedroom.

The female goblin child became excited. “Me. Too!” She jumped frantically.

Vincent chuckled and repeated the same process. After the third demigoblin was awakened in the world, Ester and Maid Xu dressed the two children in plain, heavily stitched clothes.

Vincent was brushing the two children’s hair when they energetically insisted, ” God, name us. We want a name.”

*Sigh* “Then how about this? I will only give you a name if you call me Vincent. Don’t call me god anymore, okay?” Vincent was afraid Maid Xu was already questioning why they were calling him a god in her mind. It might become problematic if the two sleeping adventurers woke up and constantly heard Vincent being addressed as a god.

Unexpectedly, the two demigoblins nodded and kept their mouths closed. They patiently waited for Vincent to name them.

-Any thoughts? I can’t think of good names at the moment. Iris is on my mind right now. –

[I understand. Hmm... I think Olive is a cute feminine name for the cute little goblin we have in front of us.]

-I like the name. What about a boy’s name?-

[Hmm... I think the name Lian matches with this male goblin. Try and ask if they like the names.]

Vincent looked at the two demigoblin children. Previously, it was difficult to tell them apart unless one took a good look at them.

However, after becoming demigoblins, their gender’s facial features became more apparent as the girl had a cute face while the boy had a cheery smile, unable to leave his face.
