Chapter 327

327 Three thugs block my way

Vincent gently lay Iris on the grass and her head on his legs for a pleasant rest. He noticed one of her hands remained closed.

“I wonder how many seeds there are.” Vincent thought out loud.

[Ten seeds, I say. How about you?]

“I would like to say three, but Iris became tired from overusing a skill she isn’t proficient in. So...”

[I, the great Kazumi, say ten while Vincent says three. The bets are closed. Please reveal the winner.]

*Sigh*Vincent shook his head at Kazumi’s excitement to play the guessing game. He gently opened Iris’s hand and revealed who the winner was.

“Ten Magic Seeds. ” Vincent said with ten mini seeds dangerously close to getting blown away by the wind. Each seed was challenging to see. Furthermore, the ten Magic Seeds would appear like dust to a person standing one meter distant.

[Condition] Enchanted Lasting Freshness, Subdivide [x10]

[Grade] Rare

[Description]

A seed given the chance of rebirth by a Druid’s touch and became a Magic Seed with the ability to grow in any kind of soil or shallow water.

[Maturity]

*Subdivide effect increases growth by ten times. Four thousand days to mature in soil or shallow water

.

“F-f-four thousand days!”

[Over ten years!]

Both Vincent and Kazumi became surprised silly by how much growth impeding each subdivision causes. The price to acquire an additional seed changed from a little over one year to over ten years.

“At least Iris can increase the growth rate of the seed a little each day.” Vincent brushed Iris’s hair and continued with a worried expression, “But I hope you will not push yourself like Ester. I don’t want to see you suffer from mana fatigue.”

.

[10x Golden Dew Lily Magic Seeds (Rare Quality) gained.]

.

Vincent stored the seeds and relaxed under the shade. In the meantime, he and Kazumi chatted about the uses and profits they could make with Seed Rebirth.

Later, Iris woke up, and they ate the sandwiches. Iris stared at Vincent while hearing about the new skill she acquired and its potential uses. ‘The ideas of the chosen one always surprise me.’ She thought highly of Vincent.

“In other words, my dear Iris. Both Kazumi and I will call you the goddess of nature.” Vincent teased, yet he didn’t feel calling Iris with this title wasn’t too far off from her capabilities as she can duplicate plants, make them grow quicker, and create nature golems.

“I will do my best to grow them.” Iris was determined to meet Vincent’s expectations.

However, her cheek was gently pinched. “Don’t go overboard. Furthermore, there is a tree I want you to grow from the seeds of a fruit that saved Ester’s life.” He said.

Iris became interested when she heard of a tree that saved Ester’s life. She loved meeting with gifts provided by nature. A beneficial fruit caused Iris to gaze on Vincent attentively, and she couldn’t wait to see the seeds.

“Kazumi and I discussed how turning the seeds into a Seed Guardian, take the Sage Apple from it, and hopefully it can be turned into a Magic Seed since they aren’t magic seeds. But maybe it will work since they are seeds that contain mana in them.” Vincent opened his hand, and green light materialized a pile of seeds.

.

[66x Sage Apple Seeds (Exotic Quality) summoned. x0 remaining.]

.

“These are the Sage Apple seeds but don’t start now. Your body is tired, so do it tomorrow. One of these days, I will also leave some Ani Bananas with you for a variety of trees to plant and care for...”

[Have you forgotten about the Noble Academy? We will be stuck there for an academic year, and if Lilith succeeds with the request, then we can only visit the mansion once every week.]

“Kazumi reminded me of the Noble Academy, so don’t go plant too many. We suggest planting one or two seeds and taking them with us in pots.” Vincent said, yet he doesn’t know if there will be a place to plant a tree near their accommodations. “We will think later on what to do and leave it in the hands of the future Vincent, Kazumi, and Iris.”

Iris felt it was irresponsible to mistreat plants. ‘But Vincent and Kazumi are knowledgeable. They must know something I don’t know.’ She thought while placing her trust in the future versions of themselves.

After spending some time on the edge of the forest, they decided to return. Iris looked happy to walk in the forest. The wild grass and clusters of trees made her feel at home.

“I feel better now, and the word date...” Iris raised a beaming smile and continued, “I love it.”

Iris didn’t think visiting outside the city and returning to the wilds for an hour, or two would make her feel at peace with the life-changing decision to accept life instead of death and become Vincent’s retainer.

“I am glad my no existing dating skills made you feel good. Haha.” Vincent said before he laughed and teased Kazumi.

-I bet you want a date too.-

[Nah~]

[I will be the one taking you out on a date and offering a perfect date. One which will make you beg for more, hehe.]

Kazumi bragged as she could see moutans of knowledge at will.

The south gate soon welcomed their sight. The soldier noticed Iris looked tired. He blushed and let them enter.

‘One woman is enough for me. I hope he doesn’t let becoming a noble go to his head. ‘ The soldier thought while watching Vincent and Iris leave hand in hand.

After passing the market and approaching the fountain, Kazumi noticed a set of tall clothes. It was a thick brown leather sleeveless blouse with laces on each side. The long pants were made in a similar style.

Both items looked cheaply made, yet Vincent and Kazumi knew leatherworking was done by magic. Pieces of leather held by laces might be the best tailors without a class could do. All in all, the set looked revealing, alluring, and protective at the same time.

Vincent approached the stand. “How much for that set?” He asked.

“Welcome, the customer. This is a set for female half-giants. This set will fit and tall woman because it’s easy to customize with the side laces.” The clothing vendor looked at Iris and added, “I am sorry, but it will not fit your woman.”

“I know a half-giant, and I thought it would make a fine gift. I like how it has the adventurer feel to it. I think she would like it.” Vincent said before he remembered the little money left and praising the clothes would make haggling more challenging to succeed.

“I acquired magic processed leather, but I found out the production quality wasn’t sufficient enough to make human clothes. A few days later of contemplation, I remembered the half-giant protecting the princess. This is the result of the inspiration... but it is rare to see a half-giant in this city and one that isn’t a slave... ” The woman looked sad after explaining how the clothes might not find an owner in months or years.

[Shall we start haggling for this set of heavy-duty alluring clothes?]

-Yes. Let’s begin.-

Vincent and Kazumi readied themselves for a long hagging war... the set of clothes was sold for one silver coin less than half a minute later. The woman looked happier with her clothes sold to be worn rather than thrown away.

[This was unexpected.]

“Can I ask to see these clothes worn? I will be happy to see the first original design I made worn. As you can see, my clothes are made to fit the current trend.” The woman asked with a smile on her face. She looked pleased, as if she knew Vincent would agree.

“I won’t make any promises, but I will see what I can do. You see, she is a shy woman.” Vincent scratched his cheek and tried to come up with a believable excuse.

Vincent stored the clothes. He felt a bizarre malice-filled gaze looking at them from his intent perception adaption. He held Iris’s hand and walked away quickly.

“Ahem!” A bulky man covered in scars stood in front of Vincent and Iris. He loudly cleared his throat and glared at Vincent to intimidate him.

[This thug is asking for trouble.]

-I felt a malicious intent directed toward us. That’s why I tried to leave. But we didn’t manage to leave this area and find a place to hide.-

Iris became frightened and huddled against Vincent’s back. She was brave when facing death, yet the thought of humans enslaving goblins clouded her determination.

Two more thugs approached, and they had a mean glare. It was obvious they were trying to rob Vincent in broad daylight.

“Leave the monster with us, and you will not get hurt.” The oldest thug threatened.

“Huh?” Vincent looked at the three thugs and later asked, “Then why aren’t you three letting us go if the goal was to leave the monsters here? All I see are three monsters, me and my woman.”

“This rich little boy thinks he is hotshot, eh?” Another mocked.
