Chapter 512

512 Unleashing magic bullet

A gust of wind quickly dispersed the large fire. Vincent appeared in the middle of a gust of wind swirling around him.

In his arms was Ester being carried. She looked tired, yet the pair of Wind Sigils appeared to be working in full potency.

Vincent lowered Ester to her feet. “Can you stand because of the poisoned arrow?” He asked.

“The numbness from my leg is now gone. I only feel tired, that’s all. ” Ester responded. She tapped the foot of her previously poisoned leg with numbing effect to show how Vincent didn’t need to worry, even if he could see her status window.

“Wait for me here while I take care of things. Kazumi has survived the area, and no more assassins are hiding.” Vincent patted her skirt and continued, changing the mood, “It looks like Maid Xu is going to be grumpy again, hehe.”

“Yeah. ” Ester said with a smile because her maid outfit was more singed from fire than Vincent’s. She knew Maid Xu would spend a day frowning on every stitch.

But fortunately, there wasn’t the slightest burn on their skin. If there was one, it was so light that it healed. Vincent and Ester were healed without a scratch on their skin.

Vincent clenched his fists and apologized for always bringing danger to those he loved. However, Ester hugged him and shook her head.

“My strength is with you. Leave me here. I will be fine. I can still fend for myself. I haven’t trained in my dancing and magic for months to fight this little.”

.....

Vincent gave Ester a gentle head pat. “My charged gauntlet with some of your mana will end this commotion quickly.”

“Don’t take too long. ” Ester said with a warm smile. She released the hug and saw Vincent dash to Aceon’s carriage.

Ester lowered her gaze and looked at her hands. “My dance isn’t over yet. I am tired, but I still have about a quarter of my mana left.”

Ester saw Zefine looking at her. She reassuringly smiled and started running towards Zefine to take her to a safer place until the danger subsided.

Ester acted as if she wasn’t in the middle of a blood and death fest. After surviving Aero Forest, Ester had become less influenced by fear and despair. Only a truly desperate situation could shake her soul now.

Vincent arrived near Aceon, but the earth wizard didn’t need help protecting his daughter. He saw him shoot a couple of earth shards and force the assassins to defend themselves.

Vincent looked inside the carriage. He saw Tiffi lying on the old maid’s lap with her ears covered. After checking their stats, both were only affected by fear.

Vincent jumped on the carriage’s roof. He took a deep breath and raised his voice, “It looks like all the rats have come out. Aren’t you here to kill me? Then why are you attacking everyone but me?”

Many turned their gaze on Vincent. Those on his side were too preoccupied to see the fire suddenly extinguish. They became happy to see him with few injuries.

On the other hand, the assassins became confused about how someone could survive being inside a raging fire for a minute or longer. Not to mention how his uniform was only singed.

An assassin not too far from the carriage decided to attack Vincent from behind. The assassin threw his dagger laced with numbing poison at Vincent.

But as if Vincent had eyes behind his back, he turned around with a smirk on his face. Vincent held his index finger with his thumb. He flicked his finger with great force, and a green light appeared.

The small ball-shaped green light shot like a bullet. Steam escaped from the charged finger as if it was a cartridge of condensed mana being used.

The magic bullet accurately collided with the dagger. The dagger had less strength and momentum. It lost the point of collision and was knocked away by the stronger projectile.

The magic bullet became smaller the more distance it traveled. However, this problem didn’t stop the short-ranged projectile at half the size from landing inside the assassin’s shoulder.

The assassin fell to the ground from the pain. He felt as if the magic bullet took root inside his shoulder and expanded chaotic ripples for a few seconds until the mana died down.

Vincent saw another assassin running to a tree. He might have wanted to flee and report how Vincent wasn’t as weak as everyone thought he was.

“Where do you think you are going?” He murmured while dashing toward the assassin.

The assassin was about to escape when Vincent raised his hand with a smirk. “Eat this.” He said while flicking his finger with all his strength, shooting a projectile of green condensed mana like a bullet from a different charged finger.

“Argh!... how did you...” The assassin muttered his final words before falling down. The magic bullet penetrated into what seemed to be a vital area as the notification window told Vincent he did from his attack.

Vincent moved his gaze at another assassin about to flee. Vincent believed they intended to make a run for it or possibly call for reinforcements.

Vincent ran up the tree in front of him. He jumped on the branches until reaching the top. Beside the tree was a house. He jumped on the house’s roof and later intercepted an assassin with a magic bullet.

Vincent inhaled more air than humanly possible, and his lunges expanded, filled with steam and air. “Surrender!” He loudly shouted with an intimidating rough voice. The radiant soul-piercing gaze made the assassins feel a chill rush down their spine.

The assassins soon realized that their assassination plan failed the moment Plan A mysteriously didn’t light a fire inside the carriage, and Plan B mysteriously didn’t work because the Molotovs vanished right before their eyes.

The target on their hit list was far stronger than the information they were given. Furthermore, the information they gathered before initiating the assassination plan never revealed Vincent was this strong.

After they gathered dozens upon dozens of information regarding Vincent being around the power range of a D Ranker, they ignored the fact he was hiding his true power.

A couple of assassins could now understand why Vincent had the rising star title in his Adventurers Guild Card.

It was now that the assassins disregarded feeling there were too many assassins for one target by calling it overkill.

However, this was about Vincent and not about the strength of his reinforcements.

The assassins never thought five soldiers, a captain, three mages, and a mysterious white wolf with patches of her opponent’s blood would arrive to help their target.

Not to mention such a brutal and violent red-headed maid killing and breaking nuts while moving as if she was dancing with her skirt fluttering like a butterfly of death.

A few assassins threw their weapons on the ground. They appeared to have surrendered. However, that wasn’t the case. They bit a fake tooth filled with poison and collapsed on the ground. They chose death over an unpleasant interrogation.

Only a few others chose to continue desperately fighting.

Zefine was in the middle of the street with her hands holding her chest. Zefine was looking at everyone she knew with a worried expression.

One mage was hiding behind the assassin’s companions, that chose to remain fighting. He noticed Russo sometimes glanced at Zefine while fighting and defeating assassins.

The mage assassin believed she was someone dear to Russo. It was the perfect weakness to take advantage of and distract him.

The mage assassin smirked and said, “Your one-armed lover will be burnt to crisp, haha.” Before shooting a fire ball at Zefine.

Russo angrily threw his sword burning with fire at the mage, killing and lighting him on fire. He turned around and prepared to dash as fast as he could to save Zefine, yet he knew deep in his heart it was too late.

A figure dressed in black moved at an extraordinary speed on all her limbs, with gusts of dust following with a brief whistle. Whenever one of her limbs touched the ground, a burst of air pushed her momentum at higher speeds.

Ester was doing multiple gymnastic-like movements at extraordinary speed. Be it when touching the ground or in mid-air, Ester gave the impression of being in complete control of her body, free from any mortal limitations.

Ester barely touched the ground and her body contorted beyond the normal standards of human limitations. The speeding Ester soon reached the fear-frozen Zefine before the fire ball did.

Ester ended the dance with a long, spinning jump. The temperature lowered while one leg, as cold as ice, swung at the fire ball.

The leg with the trail of the winter temperature following it kicked a fire ball, and a bust of vapor erupted around time. A large cloud of mist now hid the two.

Russo extinguished his burning body and used the wind to disperse the mist. In front of him was Ester on the ground and Zefine on her knees, crying while shaking Ester to wake up.

“Did she...”

“Ester is okay.” Vincent interrupted after he rushed to check on Ester.

Vincent took one glance behind him and stopped using Overheat. No one was fighting anymore. All the assassins were defeated or killed.

Vincent lifted Ester and continued, “Ester has used all her mana, and she fainted from mana fatigue. The redness on her leg is a little scald. It is nothing that can’t be cured.”

Lupa arrived and became glad to hear Ester was going to be fine. Her ears twitched at the sound of multiple footsteps.

*Woof!* [I hear more humans approaching.] Warned Lupa.
